Welcome to AJ's Kitchen & Cocktails! Located at the King & Bear clubhouse designers call this space "Southern Coastal with a Low Country Charm." A functional space with an open concept will have a relaxed atmosphere with large communal tables. There will also be small intimate tables and a private dining room, helping make for a more pleasant dining experience, whether it is dinner for two or a group. The bar area will be expanded to twenty seats with the addition of three mounted TVs on the wall. Outside, the patio will have covered and non-covered seating and fire pits with a cozy, relaxing area on the lawn overlooking the 9th and 18th greens.
AJ's will serve lunch daily, dinner service Tuesday through Saturday, and Sunday brunch. The menu is comfort food with a local twist that will feature tasty big plates, and small plates will hit the spot. Whether you want something light or hearty, this menu has a variety of dishes ranging from smaller plates perfect for one, to larger plates to share with friends. Specialty drinks, beer samplers, and a wine wall will be available for enjoyment as well.

Initially, I was disappointed as I had made a reservation online that was confirmed. We were celebrating my friend's 85th birthday, as noted on the reservation. When I arrived with the birthday girl, we were told that the restaurant was closed because of a special event. However, I showed a copy of my confirmed reservation and was asked to wait while they checked to see what could be done. We were quickly seated on the outdoor patio (our preference) and introduced to our server (Cece) who took great care of us. We ordered from the regular lunch menu and really enjoyed having the patio to ourselves along with the delicious food. We were treated royally, including a complimentary dessert to honor the birthday girl. We were very pleased with our experience and will definitely return for more amazing meals and outstanding service! Thank you!!

We had a delightful evening, from start to finish. Our service was top-notch, as usual. Always love seeing that Stephanie & Cecile are still on-board. All four of us ordered different items from the menu and we were all four completely happy with our choices. Would love to see Chef Tiago bring back that wonderful chicken stroganoff I had the pleasure of eating when he was at Hangar One. The stroganoff on the current menu is red sauce based and not nearly as wonderful.

Melinda seems to be making a difference already. Swordfish was outstanding and nice to be offered a special for dinner. Wine served chilled and in correct glass. Service - could not ask for better! Although many golfers in the room, they were controlled and not yelling….whoever is responsible for that deserves a medal.

You would have to really search to find something wrong with this lovely restaurant. From the friendly greeting at the entrance to the "Come see us again" as we departed, the evening was top notch. Big 10! John the bartender mixed a wonderful drink so I could adhere to my diet-who does that! Jordan packs bread for our son because we don’t eat it-who does that?!? Chris lets my husband try tequila to see if he likes it. We love AJs. Beautiful setting, excellent food, professional staff who know their job and take great pride in doing that job well. Best place in Saint Augustine.

It is always a “10” experience at AJs. Food well prepared, fresh and innovative; service over to top perfect-professional but friendly; best value. The restaurant itself is chic-upscale with beautiful views. But what we love most is the obvious pride each person takes in doing a far exceeds job!
Guess only thing we’d like is to see a changed menu-not because we have not enjoyed current menu, but we’d like to try some new items. But hear that is coming!

Our server, Cecilia made the experience exceptional. Love the new menu but my ratatouille was undercooked (the dough wasn’t done in places) and needed more seasoning. I did not share this with Cecilia). The chicken stroganoff has a wonderful flavor but we felt it should be chopped and served over pasta, or on a bed of rice with more sauce. It was warm in the dining room and would have been so nice to have some music. It feels like AJ’s is caught between a lunch golf/sports club and a nice place to dine. It could be both but it needs definition from day to evening. We are great fans of AJ’s and want very much for it to succeed. We love having you in our neighborhood and will continue to support you. Thanks for asking our opinion.

I ordered the turkey wrap; wish I had ordered the chicken salad. Another mistake I made was asking for the mayo to be separate, forgetting it was a wrap and not a sandwich. Consequently, I didn’t enjoy my meal as much as I could have. I don’t usually make chicken salad, but yours looked delicious. I would love to know what you put in it.

This was the first night for the new chef. Overall everything was very good. The service and presentation of the food was flawless. Only thing missed was we asked for the filet mignon to be butterflied and it was not so it was a little rarer than expected. However it was corrected immediately after we notified the server. It was still tender and juicy. We will be back to try other menu items.

First and foremost: Cece provides the BEST service...always!
The Gumbo was great...how about adding a little andouille sausage to it?! Love it! The salmon was a bit bland and the pork chop was good but maybe a bit tough.
If a salad or a cup of soup was included with dinner that would improve the value of the dishes.
The bread is good but we liked the old one a bit better.

This spot is great for a nice, quiet dinner on the golf course. Beautiful views and outdoor fire pits. The service was great but the food is really why the rating is lower and mainly because we were told that the head chef was in the house preparing the food. This may have set a higher level of expectation that wasn't met. The Beef carpaccio was decent but the pretzel charcuterie was not good. Our meals ranged from steak to pasta to shrimp. The shrimp plate and lobster ravioli were fantastic but the other plates were over done or over spiced. Still a great little spot in world golf village to get a meal away from the hustle and bustle.

Food and Drink excellent again. Newer server, Anthony, hustled and complied with all requests. He will improve when he anticipates requests. Steak Knife with steak, bread/rolls earlier, anticipation of refills on cocktails, etc. The 'Stroll' setup at the entrance was a little off putting clogging entry to restaurant. That said, we will be back!

Ambience was amazing and we had a wonderful time with friends. Drinks at bar before dinner and a friendly bartender. Fireplaces going inside and out. Our table was ready and we were greeted by our server promptly. After we placed our orders (a few of us ordered the special) were told they were out of it. Our steak was over cooked but flavorful. Prices were average and there were a good amount menu options. The staff was great from the minute we walked in. Overall we enjoyed our time and food and will try them again.

Overall our experience was good. But, on my reservation I indicated it was my husband’s birthday, so it would have been nice to have been offered a free dessert or something. We had a group of 10, and we stayed after our checks. It wasn’t crowded at all, and it would have been nice if the server had brought us more water. The food was good, but the portions are pretty small for the price. Overall, nice change from the usual crowded, loud restaurants.

I am giving an honest review. I don’t know if they were understaffed or not but the service was extremely slow. My wife and I dined there for the first time so I don’t have a comparison. All of the servers who stopped by our table were extremely pleasant and apologetic. One server made a point to say it is not normally like this. They took our salad off of our bill as a courtesy for the slow service without our asking them to do so. We will try AJ’a kitchen again and we hope to see a much improved process.

We picked this restaurant because of the menu, but half of the items were not on the menu we were presented, and even on that menu, they were out of some items. Order a filet mignon medium rare and it came out so rare that even with a sharp knife you couldn’t cut it.
