Great food, staff attentive, very helpful and welcoming, nice bright and airy restaurant with good views of the golf course. We visited for the 50% off burger deal which we have done on previous occasions, they were excellent as always. Will definately be back, have heard good things about Sunday roasts and breakfasts so plenty to choose from. Definately worth a visit.

Overall an enjoyable meal. We were unable to use the restaurant due to a ladies golf presentation lunch but were happy with the alternative arrangement, although the room could have been a little warmer!! Food and service were excellent and extremely good value for money. We look forward to our next visit.

Our second time at 1896 and the food was just as good as the first time, service was friendly and efficient. What a shame that we were the only people in the restaurant, it didn't affect our evening but felt sorry for them as the food is really good, great value with a good range of beer on tap. There is plenty of room and all COVID rules are adhered to - give them a try you won't be disappointed I'm sure.

We booked to have a meal with friends. Everything was lovely and the food great but for portion size against the price, it was a bit of a let down. The portion sizes were fairly small with high price tags. Other places do bigger portions and some lower in price also. But i am not sure if this is because of Covid and trying to claw some money back, which is understandable.
But i dont want this to come across as a horrible review as it is far from that, lovely service, lovely surroundings etc. Just portion size against price didnt sit well.

We came for breakfast which was delicious but the one thing that I didn’t like was what the mushrooms were cooked in .... very very greasy ... it filled my plate with oil which I needed to dab with a napkin

Fantastic food which was clearly freshly prepared and cooked to order. Unfortunately the service was poor, taking 2.5 hours to get 2 courses out to us. We will definately visit again as maybe the poor service was a one off.
