We are a casual tea room - while we are delighted when guests dress up or don hats, it is certainly not required.
We're happy to accommodate you! Please note any and all dietary restrictions or food allergies in the "OCCASION/REQUEST" box when making a reservation! Gluten-Free and Vegan or Dairy-Free tea service is available for an extra $2/person. Please note: while we are happy to offer Gluten-Free items, our kitchen is not a gluten-free environment. We urge all guests with serious food allergies or dietary restrictions to get in touch personally with a manager before dining with us.
We require credit card information upon booking to help us prevent no-shows and wasted food / reservation space. Any cancellation up to 48hours prior to the reservation date incurs no penalty. Cancellations within 48 hours of the reservation date that are unable to filled by the waiting list incur a $10/person fee. No-shows are charged the full price of tea service, per person.
We are located in an old stone house, set back from the road a little bit at 1854 Brevard Road (Rt. 191) in Arden. We are about 15 minutes south of downtown Asheville, about 10 minutes north of the AVL Airport, and about 2 miles south of the NC Arboretum.
Of course! Well-behaved children are welcome, and we offer a children's tea service for half price. They receive a pot of tea (or lemonade, or hot cocoa, etc.) plus scones and shortbread cookies, but just 2 finger sandwiches and 2 desserts instead of the usual 4 each. Please indicate the number of children below 10 years of age in the "REQUEST" box when making a reservation!
Of course! We welcome bridal showers, baby showers, bachelorette parties... or any sort of celebration, really! Please e-mail [email protected] with a date and approximate number of guests for more information!
For the most part, yes. However, we admittedly and proudly have thrown a few southern "twists" into what is known as traditional tea service. We promote a laid-back, relaxed atmosphere that is not stuffy or too prim-and-proper, so as to maximize the enjoyment of an afternoon savoring tea and homemade treats.

Fantastic spot for a family afternoon tea: we loved the funky vibe of Ivory Road, and we had wonderful service. It was a great hybrid of Asheville energy, southern influence (pimento cheese and tomato sandwiches!), and English classics, including some of the best scones we've ever had. Very extensive tea list + they serve full pots to each person, which, for dedicated tea drinkers, was great and eliminated the need to ask for hot water multiple times. Highly recommend for an afternoon with family or friends.

The food is excellent and creative, the servers are efficient and friendly. Inside the restaurant is cozy but it is wonderful to be able to sit out on the deck or in the side yard. Everything is clean and all safety protocols are adhered to. My favorite place to eat.

I am 100% in love with Ivory Road! I’m so thankful I found this perfect little gem tucked away in Arden. We had a bridal shower afternoon tea and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The staff/owner are so accommodating and friendly. The food and drinks are delicious, and the place is adorable. Thank you all for helping me make my niece a very happy bride to be! I really enjoyed having afternoon tea at Ivory Road Cafe. We went on a Tuesday so we had the tea room all to ourselves and the Ginger Orange Peach Black tea was so delicious. Our waitress was really friendly and took good care of us checking on us a couple of times of make sure we were enjoying everything. All the desserts were yummy as well and I really loved the chocolate mint scone with some clotted cream on top. We never felt rushed and with the food and ambiance it was definitely worth it booking here! We even got a to go box because we couldn't finish everything.

We enjoyed a wonderful experience at afternoon tea yesterday at the Ivory Cafe. Service was prompt & efficient, our view was beautiful & the savories & sweets were AMAZING! We recently went to tea in a major U. S. city & found the Ivory Cafe’ to be superior. The price is the most reasonable I’ve ever heard of for an afternoon tea (so you may tip your server extra well!). If you’ve never experienced afternoon tea, try this charming establishment; you won’t be disappointed! Thank you, Ivory Cafe’!

We went for tea on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated in the front room where all other customers came through, so there was not much ambiance. The service was fantastic. My biggest complaint was that my tea was not hot-I don’t know if it was the pot or the water was not that hot to begin with.
