Frequently Asked Questions- What is your dress code?
- We are a casual restaurant -- you're welcome to dress up or dress down!
- What is your cancellation policy?
- We require credit card information upon booking to help us prevent no-shows and wasted food / reservation space. Cancellations within 24 hours of the reservation date will incur a 50% ticket price charge to the credit card on file. Same day cancellations or no-shows are charged the full price of service, per person.
- Where exactly are you located?
- We are located in an old stone house, set back from the road a little bit at 1854 Brevard Road (Rt. 191) in Arden. We are about 15 minutes south of downtown Asheville, about 10 minutes north of the AVL Airport, and about 2 miles south of the NC Arboretum.
- Can children attend?
- For tea service: Yes - we offer a children's tea service for half price. Kids receive a pot of tea (or lemonade, hot cocoa, etc.) plus scones & shortbread cookies, but just 2 finger sandwiches & 2 desserts instead of the usual (adult-sized) 4 each. Please indicate the # of children 10 or younger when making a reservation! For other special events: Certain events are kid-friendly and others aren't -- we'll always make note of this in the event details.

- Is your tea service a REAL English-Style Afternoon Tea?
- For the most part, yes. However, we admittedly and proudly have thrown a few southern "twists" into what is known as traditional tea service. We promote a laid-back, relaxed atmosphere that is not stuffy or too prim-and-proper, so as to maximize the enjoyment of an afternoon savoring tea and homemade treats.
- What if I am Gluten-Free, or Vegan, or have a food allergy?
- We're happy to accommodate you as best we can! Please note any and all dietary restrictions or food allergies when making a reservation! A delightful restaurant. And the food is always superb. Nate and Jill did an amazing job with the lobster dinner. Marge had the broccoli soup which was superb. I had the salad with a light dressing that was excellent. The lobster Mac & cheese was so creamy and delicious and no skimping on the lobster. Marge and the chocolate cake and loved it. I had the pan a cotta which was super creamy and rich with blueberries. An absolutely divine evening. Thank you Jill and Nate.

My daughter had her bridal shower at Ivory Road Cafe, and it was fabulous! Michael and the staff were over the top! Delicious sconces and tea biscuits and choice of tea for each guest. Highly recommend visiting Ivory Rd. for an experience that’s relaxing and a step back in time.

Very nice experience for an afternoon tea! We had a choice of at least 10+ teas! They served the tea with a few scones and butter cookie. A little later we were served an assortment of tea sandwiches, petite firs and tarts. We had a great table by the window and overall the atmosphere is perfect for tea!

I loved sitting by the window and looking out to the ivy and the sweet path up to the back room. The teapots on the mantle was a homey touch. I had the Giner Tumeric tea complete with a touch of Black Pepper, which came in a huge pot. The lavender shortbread and the chicken curry salad and egg salad were my favorites. I even took home some of goodies for the next day!

Fantastic spot for a family afternoon tea: we loved the funky vibe of Ivory Road, and we had wonderful service. It was a great hybrid of Asheville energy, southern influence (pimento cheese and tomato sandwiches!), and English classics, including some of the best scones we've ever had. Very extensive tea list + they serve full pots to each person, which, for dedicated tea drinkers, was great and eliminated the need to ask for hot water multiple times. Highly recommend for an afternoon with family or friends.

I really enjoyed having afternoon tea at Ivory Road Cafe. We went on a Tuesday so we had the tea room all to ourselves and the Ginger Orange Peach Black tea was so delicious. Our waitress was really friendly and took good care of us checking on us a couple of times of make sure we were enjoying everything. All the desserts were yummy as well and I really loved the chocolate mint scone with some clotted cream on top. We never felt rushed and with the food and ambiance it was definitely worth it booking here! We even got a to go box because we couldn't finish everything.

I had a great tea time experience at ivory road and can not wait to go back! The staff were all friendly and very sweet to my 8mo daughter. They had a great tea selection. It was an adorable tea time setup. The food we got was amazing and I can’t wait to try more. I look forward to my next visit!

The soup was not great but the rest of the dinner was wonderful. We were unable to get a table outside but will think to reserve one next time. Wine, Chardonnay, was very good especially for the price.

The wine server was not very professional and we were not given enough wine for a complete tasting. Also half the table was given twice as much as the other half. You had 6 customers who couldn’t figure out why that was. It honestly was the smallest serving I’ve ever received from a wine pairing. At past dinners servers would explain what each dish was, which would have been nice/helpful especially with the dishes that were served raw. We were also told that the last pairing was chosen because it went will with chocolate. Our dessert was not prepared with chocolate which made the dessert although very good a bit of a disappointment at first.

We went for tea on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated in the front room where all other customers came through, so there was not much ambiance. The service was fantastic. My biggest complaint was that my tea was not hot-I don’t know if it was the pot or the water was not that hot to begin with.
