I was very, very disappointed with the food. Bland, Bland. I thought we could order fondue with different sides. Not available. We had great food all weekend visiting Collingwood and on our last night it was a huge disappointment at the Alphorn. The seats are very uncomfortable, there is a smell when you walk in. Server did not know the menu that well, but was very pleasant. It had such a hype online , but it was a complete waste of money. We did not feel well after eating our meals. I had such high hopes. Will not recommend or ever go back again. I never write negative reviews, but this experience was so disappointing.

We had a pretty disappointing experience this time. We came to the Alphorn for the first time December 17th, before we went to see the Nutcracker in Meaford. It was lovely, the food was amazing, the service was amazing. We have been dying to come back. Were supposed to come Friday for my birthday, but had to cancel due to weather. We re-booked for Valentine's Day, for our family of 3. Rushed around all day, and made a point of driving from Sauble Beach to get there for our 5pm rezo. I had asked for a booth in my rezo. We didn't get that, which was fine. Our server was one of the worst servers we've ever had in our life. She never checked on us, didn't bring out our food herself (likely cause she forgot), our drinks were all empty for like 20 minutes, she kept passing us by. The food was totally different than our first trip. It almost seemed like maybe it was leftovers kept from the weekend--or a vastly different cook. The steak my husband got was really poorly and barely cooked, the fondue we had tasted like it was bland cheese and nutmeg with no wine in it, the bread that came out for the fondue was literally cold, so we wondered if it had just been defrosted, the stroganoff I had sauce tasted the same--but the austrian pasta stuff was hard, almost hard chewy and again, and had the texture of maybe re-heated stuff from the weekend. When we first ordered, I had asked our server to make sure I had a second order that I could take home with me--cause it was my favourite meal. Lucky for me she didn't even remember that, so I didn't have to take one home and pay for another one that was not good. It was pretty obvious we weren't eating all of our food, she never even asked if everything was okay. We ate part of our plates and then to be honest, it was so gross that we decided to call it a night and asked for our bill. We had to chase her to ask for the bill, as she was too busy attending to everyone but us. After 20 minutes I had to chase her again

we enjoyed ourselves, but we did find the schnitzel to be somewhat over cooked. Also our friends (who are snow birds could not join us )- ordered a bottle of wine to be delivered to the table , and prepaid - it didn't come . i know they are very disappointed and i know they will be in touch with you directly, hope they aren't too "difficult" about it - as mistakes happen. Love the Alphorn so don't take this too harshly. Love the additions to the new menu and the much better vegetables and bread and whipped butter. Thank you

The Beef Borg and Italian Schnitzel meals were fantastic. Carefully prepared and served piping hot. A rich, flavourful taste in both cases with well balanced seasoning. Desert Strudel and ice cream with Swiss chocolate sauce was the perfect finish. The staff were friendly and attentive. The Alphorn continues its well earned reputation as a perfect place for any celebration or casual meal.

My first time to what I understand is an iconic Collingwood restaurant. Go for the decor alone, but stay for generous helpings of German style cuisine. Staff were great, bringing out a free piece of Black Forest Cake when I told them it was my wife's birthday. My spatzle was a bit chewy, but my wife loved her schnitzel. Definitely worth going to.

Was looking forward to having schnitzel, it was really really overcooked and the “fresh” veggies were also well overcooked!!!! The rosti was the only good part of the meal.. might try restaurant again and try the onion soup and fondue but will definitely not have or suggest the schnitzel to anyone………

Jordan was an attentive server.
The restaurant could use a refresh, seating and carpeting very old.
Raw meat for the fondue should be kept separate from the raw vegetables, they were served touching each other which is a health concern.

Our first time at Alphorn. Booked the table ahead of the time for our trip to Blue Mountain not knowing what to expect and we are happy we did!!! The food and service were excellent! Mostly Swiss, German cuisine as per my knowledge. Big portions. You won't leave the place hungry for sure. I recommend to book the table ahead. The place gets very busy. The interior design is unique. You can admire every single piece of memorabilia there for hours!

I’ve been going to the alphorn for over 25 years. I love everything about it. I was disappointed though to see that the ambiance has been affected by the lack of music in the main room. I’m not sure that I would return because of this. I asked our server about it twice but to no avail.

It’s was so hot in there we were eating our dinner with literal sweat running down our faces. People like to come in on a hot day and have a chance to cool down. It’s a courtesy that you would provide a comfortable temperature. Our waitress started out down right bitchy for no reason. The Diet Coke is disgusting! When sending it back the waitress says ya we get a lot of complaints about our Diet Coke. Ok so nobody wants to do anything to fix it? Food was just alright. Schnitzel was flavourless and the Caesar salad was flavourless. It was disappointing because we always wanted to try this restaurant. We would not come back and we also would not recommend to our friends unfortunately.

When you asked on your site, I would rather make a reservation and talk to a human, it asked if it was an occasion or event. I answered birthday.
The candles and song was a surprise. However, I had purchased an expensive cake to celebrate with guests for a surprise back at the house.
When a piece of cake arrived at the table, not having been ordered by anyone, we were both surprised. When the bill came and it was $12 plus tax and tip we were shocked.
I find this practice quite inappropriate especially when there is no previous disclosure. The bill was paid with no discussion but it will never happen to me again and I certainly will tell people.

I was there two weeks ago and food was very good. Last night the schnitzel was awful!
I asked my guests and no one enjoyed the food . The spatzle was very underwhelming too ( dry/ crisps… most likely too long under a heat lamp). Sorry. I won’t come back given the food last night. Service was great / fun server . Thanks for asking.

I booked to celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday. We had the most wonderful welcome from the lovely (and amusing!) server and her recommendations were spot on. A lot of restaurants are difficult to access with a wheelchair but the Alphorn has plenty of space and easy access. Perfect for what we wanted. All the staff very friendly and surprised us with a lovely birthday cake and candelabra of candles to blow out. Can’t recommend enough. Hope to return one day when I am next back in town. (I live in the UK.)

As usual - the whole experience rates an 11 - We were a party of 6 celebrating 1 b'day person who had never been there before. We love to see all the skiers and the children and the noise and the ambiance is so fun as well. The staff are all wonderful and fun-loving. The restaurant has a live pulsing beat to it and we go there a lot and I can't wait to go again. The experience is lovely every time.

escargot were delicious. also had the cheese fondue. fondue itself was great, except bread basket that came was hard bread. they had clearly cut up the bread earlier to prep and it all got quite hard as a result. for a fondue, bread is a key ingredient, so needs to be fresh. this definitely impacted the fondue experience. would have been top notch if bread served was fresher and soft.

This is so difficult to write because we have a fantastic time and a lot of fun as a group of 6. Our Servicer Susan was incredible, from taking our orders, delivering the food and drinks and making such a special effort.
The only problem was the pork schnitzel was terrible and most of us got it. We tried to pretend that it wasn't terrible because we didn't want to complain but it really was.

However my husband and I both had schnitzel which was over cooked and dry (glad we had the lemons) as were the rosti potatoes. Vegetables were great as was the bread and butter. Atmosphere was wonderful

Hi, we love the Alphorn, and hosted two very good friends that night, but unfortunately all four of our schnitzels were very over cooked and dry. Because we had friends with us I didn't want to make a big deal about it during dinner. Our server was very good and friendly, the atmosphere was great, and our appetizers were very good. Always enjoyed going to Alphorn but this time the food was very disappointing. The pork schnitzel was paper thin and overcooked, tasted like cardboard. Our waitress took back both my wife’s and mine and replaced the pork with a better piece on the same plate. Ordered the Collingwood whiskey cream sauce which was very watery and tasteless with 2 slices of mushroom, I guess they were running out of sauce and just watered it down. Certainly not worth the additional $4.50.

I have a fan of the Alphorn for over 40 years but this is the first time I have been since the new owners took over. My 5 pals and myself thoroughly enjoyed the experience, food & service. The only small complaint is from me - being charged $9 to have a small side order of Caesar salad instead of fries to accompany my delicious burger was painful especially since it was very small - so I won’t do that again. I still find the seats a tad uncomfortable as they don’t have a lot of padding. However, we will be back as back !

I am surprised by the pricing of fondue. The table next to (8 adults) wanted but couldn’t afford. We splurged and got both cheese ( that was generous but pricey- good for 4 as a share) and meat.( Meat portion was very tiny for the price). Would love a hot pot veggie option ( they have pots that hold 2/3 liquids).
Caesar salad was good.
Funnel cake. Terrible. Gotta fry fresh if offering on the menu! ( was barely warm and spongy) ice cream saved it ( and it was cheaper than the salad.. so we didn’t send back.
House wine was delicious and reasonable.
Next time I’ll go back to schnitzel ( although a bit too expensive but filling.

Overall, it’s got a great vibe and atmosphere. Great servers… just need to fix some pricing/ portions/ and only offer deserts you can do well. ( we expected that to be $8. So … could up that and create a desert menu)

Hello, We had a fun night with good friends ( who are also Clients) . The service was great , yet , almost too fast. We rushed to order drinks and food. We booked the table for 1.5 hours , yet we were finished the main course in 20 min. Bea was polite and professional as a server and the birthday candles were a nice surprise. The Manager at the bar was cordial. Schnitzel was good and big portion. Green beans were hard. The asphalt driveway near the handicap parking was broken and not level. My Client struggled in the dark , with his senior walker and almost fell. I recommend resurface. Sincerely , Ed
