We took a look back and figured out that the loud conversations at the bar were a few guests that had been in the night before discussing a birthday celebration that was held at the restaurant. it probably sounded like a staff conversation, however. Regarding the pots and pans in the kitchen, we had a convo with the kitchen team to try and be a little more careful with the steel pots back there! Thanks for letting us know! My Husband and I really enjoyed this restaurant.
Very cozy and we enjoyed the way they Celebrated people that had Birthdays that night.
The staff was very friendly and the food was very good.
We will definitely be going back to this restaurant next time we are up in Collingwood again.

I had heard many great things about this restaurant and was so looking forward to a wonderful meal.
However my husband and I both had schnitzel which was over cooked and dry (glad we had the lemons) as were the rosti potatoes. Vegetables were great as was the bread and butter. Atmosphere was wonderful

Hi, we love the Alphorn, and hosted two very good friends that night, but unfortunately all four of our schnitzels were very over cooked and dry. Because we had friends with us I didn't want to make a big deal about it during dinner. Our server was very good and friendly, the atmosphere was great, and our appetizers were very good. It would have been perfect if someone in the kitchen had noticed that the schnitzels were very dark brown before sending them out. My cell number is 416-450-9646 if you'd like to discuss further. The Alphorn has been the most important restaurant family tradition for the 15 years we have been summer vacationing here. We have introduced some of our friends and other family members as well. We truly enjoy our server , Wanda. She is friendly, great sense of humour and always happy to accommodate any special requests. The ambiance and charm, is like no other restaurant. We enjoyed our food and the server did a good job.
It took several minutes to be seated despite a few staff making eye contact as we waited. It wasn’t busy and we had a reservation.
We had a German student with us who recognized the music playing. With music as accessible as it is today, more contemporary music would be a suggestion.
We had a corner bench and a couple family members found the distance from the bench to the table less than ideal.
Despite all this, we did enjoy the food and will return.

Our first time at Alphorn. Booked the table ahead of the time for our trip to Blue Mountain not knowing what to expect and we are happy we did!!! The food and service were excellent! Mostly Swiss, German cuisine as per my knowledge. Big portions. You won't leave the place hungry for sure. I recommend to book the table ahead. The place gets very busy. I've been a customer for about 30 years, I like that the vegetables are now fresh and that you've added spatzle. The dressing on the hearts of palm has changed, I preferred the previous version. The Beef Borg and Italian Schnitzel meals were fantastic. Carefully prepared and served piping hot. A rich, flavourful taste in both cases with well balanced seasoning. I had Flaedlisoup …. Very salty broth and Flaedli should be cut in to smaller pieces for easier handling when eating soup. Chicken broth would be a better choice.
Bratwurst with Roeschti was good, but, beans need to be cooked a bid longer. Almost raw.
Charcuterie platter …… was expecting more Buendner Fleisch, the sausages represented German high fat sausages. Suggestion ….. Landjaeger, Genova Salami,
Proscutto. Presentation was lovely.
The home made bread was excellent and much enjoyed by my guests.
Wish you would have the Hungarian Gulasch back on the menu. Still on your website. Fortunately I called ahead and could inform my guests that this was no longer available.
Certainly an interesting Restaurant I can take my guest to when visiting this area.

I booked to celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday. We had the most wonderful welcome from the lovely (and amusing!) server and her recommendations were spot on. A lot of restaurants are difficult to access with a wheelchair but the Alphorn has plenty of space and easy access. Perfect for what we wanted. All the staff very friendly and surprised us with a lovely birthday cake and candelabra of candles to blow out. Can’t recommend enough. Hope to return one day when I am next back in town. They have destroyed what used to be with Mark and Bill and excellent Schnitzel what the new owners are serving is simply the crappiest schnitzel ever. How to destroy a restaurant that been there forever in one fell swoop. No more Alpenhorn for me.

I am surprised by the pricing of fondue. The table next to (8 adults) wanted but couldn’t afford. We splurged and got both cheese ( that was generous but pricey- good for 4 as a share) and meat.( Meat portion was very tiny for the price). Would love a hot pot veggie option ( they have pots that hold 2/3 liquids).
Caesar salad was good.
Funnel cake. Terrible. Gotta fry fresh if offering on the menu! ( was barely warm and spongy) ice cream saved it ( and it was cheaper than the salad.. so we didn’t send back.
House wine was delicious and reasonable.
Next time I’ll go back to schnitzel ( although a bit too expensive but filling.

Overall, it’s got a great vibe and atmosphere. Great servers… just need to fix some pricing/ portions/ and only offer deserts you can do well. ( we expected that to be $8. So … could up that and create a desert menu)

It’s was so hot in there we were eating our dinner with literal sweat running down our faces. People like to come in on a hot day and have a chance to cool down. It’s a courtesy that you would provide a comfortable temperature. Our waitress started out down right bitchy for no reason. The Diet Coke is disgusting! When sending it back the waitress says ya we get a lot of complaints about our Diet Coke. Ok so nobody wants to do anything to fix it? Food was just alright. Schnitzel was flavourless and the Caesar salad was flavourless. It was disappointing because we always wanted to try this restaurant. We would not come back and we also would not recommend to our friends unfortunately.

Meats were dry. Schnitzel was fried in an oil that has passed its max usage amounts and it was dry. The Black Forest cake does not come to black forest. Only good things was our server

The reservation process was insulting. They would not take a reservation over the phone. To reserve on an American site and to have to leave a credit card on the site was insulting. The emphasis on the fact that if we were 10 minutes late or we did not cancel at least 24 hours before our time was insulting. The schnitzel was over cooked as were the Rosti potatoes. The service was great. We will not be back as there are at least two places in the area serving better schnitzel.

DISAPPOINTED, I have been celebrating occasions in your restaurant for so many years, but this time it was very disappointing. Everything was as usual but the food was bad, very dry schnitzel, mashed no taste , salad yuk,, but at least the beer and service was good. Hope you improve your kitchen.

I have beef stroganoff and the beef pieces were tough and chewy.
I noted in my reservation that is was my daughter’s birthday and I had to tell them when I was getting my bill that they forgot to recognize her birthday.

When you asked on your site, I would rather make a reservation and talk to a human, it asked if it was an occasion or event. I answered birthday.
The candles and song was a surprise. However, I had purchased an expensive cake to celebrate with guests for a surprise back at the house.
When a piece of cake arrived at the table, not having been ordered by anyone, we were both surprised. When the bill came and it was $12 plus tax and tip we were shocked.
I find this practice quite inappropriate especially when there is no previous disclosure. The bill was paid with no discussion but it will never happen to me again and I certainly will tell people.

Walking in at first it felt like the heating was not working. People kept their coats on!
I'm was embarrassed for my guest I invited for what I thought a nice dinner.
The Schnitzel were dry and hard as if someone forgot them in the deep fryer,
the vegetables were hard as well and they looked like typical frozen vegetables.
Over all it was a sad food experience! And way over priced for what it was!
