The Birdcage was created as the ultimate ode to Bermudian cocktail culture while honoring our local flavors, the environment and Bermuda’s unique history. We love and respect our island and draw inspiration from everything around us from fresh natural ingredients to our namesake landmark (just look out on Front Street!). The Birdcage was created in the 1962 by Bermuda’s first city engineer, Geoffrey 'Dickie' Bird, who constructed “the cage” to protect policemen directing traffic. Like the Birdcage itself, we are interested in protecting nature and our people, keeping it simple, all while having a lot of fun with good vibes only. With that in mind, we welcome you to The Birdcage!

Booking Notes:

Please be advised that we do not take reservations past 6PM nor do we take reservations for party sizes smaller than 4 guests. If you can't find an available time or if you are less than 4 guests just come by and we will do our best to get you a table. FYI, We do not reserve all tables to allow for this walk in business. Also, our Largest table can hold 10 guests so multiple tables may be needed if your party size exceeds 10. Private event rental is needed for group sizes above 15.

We open at 1pm and are only open until 10pm so only take reservations until 6:00pm so that tables do not sit empty for too long.
Our Largest table can hold 10 guests so multiple tables may be needed if your party size exceeds 10. Private event rental is needed for group sizes above 15.
No it is not required to wear a mask!
If you can't book the time you want try and earlier time. More tables are available at earlier times. The last reservation time is 6:00pm.
We only take reservations for group sizes of 3 or more guests. We take walk in business for groups of all sizes, so please feel free to come up and be served. Come early to avoid disappointment but we will do our best to accommodate.

Great spot for drinks. Staff friendly and professional. Adding another head covering to the mid would be help shield the afternoon sun. Music was very cool.

Good vibe, beautiful views, excellent service. No food or snacks (popcorn machine not working). Vinyl record DJ was great but only played reggae while we were there. Nice variety of drink but very expensive. Strict booking policy meant we had to drop two ppl from our reservation as they could not be there at the exact booking time. Latest booking 6pm, minimum 4 ppl.

Myself and my party had drinks. We stayed for a hr or 2 for a meeting! There was a fairly large group that walked in. And I figured they had reservations. There was a young waitress that came over and said hi ladies we have a group that came in are you pretty much done with your table. We said no. She said well are you drinking! We said YES! And then she walks away. I was blown away. Because why do we need to drink in order to retain our reservation. The waitress was completely out of line and it kind of made it seem very unwelcoming.
Business Response:
Hi Shakira, We have asked staff to politely ask for tables back once guests have finished thier drinks to make room for new guests. This is especially needed on our busiest days and times (like after 5pm on a Wednesday during Harbour Nights when we have a dj or live music on a Thursday). This entertainment costs us money and as we are a seasonal business with limited seating and can only open in good weather, we want to allow room for guests that want to spend money so that our business can succeed and staff can earn a living. Covid was especially difficult for our industry and staff and this season has had 5 weeks of constant rain where we have had many days that we could not open, so we appreciate your understanding with this and maybe you will see that there is a better time or, better yet, better place to host a meeting. This is common practice in many parts of the world but we will work better to communicate this to guests going forward so that it does not come off unwelcoming. Thank you for your business and we look forward to hosting you again.

The swizzle was not good, didn’t look or taste like a swizzle The margarita tasted like mixer only, no liquor. Stop pre mixing/making large batches of your drinks. Came last summer and the drinks were great, what happened this year??
Business Response:
Hi Hillary. The swizzle is a little different than the typical found around the island. Ours is what swizzle would have been like when it was invented (i.e. there was no Pinapple juice back then). We use fresh juices, homemade syrups with cane sugar and aromatric bitters instead of canned juices and corn syrup. It might not be what you are used to but it is loved by many. We have always batched our Margarita so nothing has changed and we use fresh lime juice and agave (not a mix). We are the only place putting in this effort on Front Street and as a result It is our top seller (btw we go through so much that it doesn't sit for more than a couple of days). Feel free to order the classic margarita which is made fresh and is a little less sweet. We appreciate the feedback.
