Frequently Asked Questions- Can I have a private table for 2 guests?
- Yes. Private dining for 2 guests is available in at $125 per guest (+ Tax and service fee). Seating is limited. Please make your request for a private table of 2 guests at the time of your reservation. All requests are honored on a first come basis.
- How do I make a reservation for a large party?
- Tables can seat a maximum of 4 guests. If you have a larger party, you will need to break up your reservations into numbers of four (4) or less. Although tables can NOT be moved, your group may be seated at adjoining tables. Just make a note in the "Special Request" seated box at the time of the reservation and we will do our best to accommodate you and will confirm your request by email. - What dates are available for the Wine Train?
- We are offer wine dinner excursions usually the third Thursday of each month. Some months have more dates. Our 2024 schedule is posted on our our website Private parties are available for other dates. Please email or call us for inquiries on booking a private Wine Train excursion. - Can I book a private Wine Train excursion for my company or group?
- Absolutely. We have blocked a number of available dates for private wine dinner excursions. Please email or call us to inquire about booking your next party or event. [email protected] 423.370-2559
- I am trying to make a reservation for 2 but the system says there are none unavailable.
- Some of our tables are arranged for parties of 3-4 people. Parties of 2 are not available at these tables. If you are unable to book a table for two (2), it is likely because they are all booked for that date and we only have tables for 3-4 available. Solution: Invite your neighbors or best friends and make it a party of four!
- Can I bring my kids?
- Yes, if your kid is 21 years old. Per TN Law, no guest under 21 is permitted on the Wine Train.
- Do you offer Gluten-Free or Vegetarian Options?
- The roast beef may be served without sauce to make it gluten -free and the vegetarian lasagna is offered for vegetarians. We do not have vegan options. Please make a note in "Request/Occasion" box when making reservation.
- What sights will I see from Dinner Train?
- As a key route for passenger and industrial service in the early and mid-20th century, this historic excursion line begins on a pre-Civil War route crossing four bridges and through the Missionary Ridge Tunnel. As the train makes its way past East Chattanooga, additional sights that can be viewed from the train include the Chattanooga Zoo established in 1937 and the Warner Park fields, previously called “Olympia Park” near the turn of the 20th century
- Is there a dress code for the Wine Train?
- We do not have a formal dress code for the dinner train, but most passengers seem to enjoy dressing up a bit. We do ask that gentlemen remove their hats while dining on the train.
- Is the Wine Train accessible for wheelchairs?
- Historic rail cars and stations were built before the advent of technology accommodating people with special needs. Our rail cars were not designed to accommodate wheelchairs safely. The ADA recognizes the limitations of such historic rail equipment and expressly exempts these trains and stations from accessibility requirements. Though we cannot accommodate wheelchair access within our historical passenger cars, all persons who can board the train themselves are welcome to ride.
- Where can we stay in Chattanooga?
- Chattanooga has many options such as campgrounds, bed & breakfast locations, and hotels. See the Chattanooga Area Convention & Visitors Bureau website for more information: www.visitchattanooga.com. Click here for information on planning your stay.

- Is there room for a camper truck or trailer in the parking lot?
- The TN Valley Railroad has a large parking lot with plenty of room. Only on the busiest of days there might not be convenient parking for over-sized vehicles such as Day Out With Thomas or other special events. Please note: No overnight parking is permitted.
- Can I smoke on the Wine Train?
- Smoking is prohibited on all trains and in all stations by State law.
- If we are running late, will you hold the train for us?
- Unfortunately, as much as we try to accommodate all our visitors, we generally can’t delay a train full of passengers. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment. Note that Chattanooga is in the Eastern Time Zone.
- Is the Wine Train air conditioned or heated?
- Our rail cars are air-conditioned and heated. A few cars have adjustable windows which are raised to allow airflow.
- Can I get up and walk around the train?
- Depending on operating conditions, passengers can move about on the train.

We so enjoyed Bob, the Maitre de. He was the perfect host. We would’ve enjoyed it if John had given us a little bit of the history of the trains while we were riding in the box car. The food was very good. But the plain baby carrots somewhat ruined the lovely entrees. The desserts were nothing special. But overall it was a lot of fun!

Everything was perfect for our crazy and loud group of 17…smart idea to place us in the dining club car alone. We had a great evening in a really cool, moving venue. Wine was good and plentiful. As expected with fine dining, our entrees were prepped well and served at the perfect temperature. Desserts-yummy! Bob, our server, was prompt, fun and very informative. Moving moment passing the Chattanooga National Cemetery at dusk. Everyone agreed, it was well worth our drives from BHM, ATL & Springfield, IL. We all spent the night, having made a long afternoon, evening and night of it.

We enjoyed the experience. Appreciated the greeting and guidance getting aboard. The decorations were beautiful. Wine service cordial and informative. Table service was top notch. Table setting was very fitting the era of the dining car. JJ and his crew did a great job. The food was middling at best. We expected a bit better. We would rate it 2 star. Chicken breast had lots of bones. Beef was well, well done. Beans were either over done or from a can. Would like to have known were we were in Chattanooga. Maybe the Conductor can make announcements. We will not return for the food. But will for the experience of the Wine Train. Maybe do a Wine and heavy Charcuterie Board Train? Selection of wines, cheeses and more.

Wine Train was a Christmas gift from our son. When we arrived for the Wine Train, our son and his girlfriend surprised us by being there to make the trip with us! Wine Train immediately accommodated us by rearranging everything so we could be a table for 4 instead of two tables of two. It was a magical experience with the people we love, great food, great wine, great service, great experience —on a train! You’ve simply got to see Gage pour coffee on a moving train!

Food was good, but need a different type of green beans (tasted tinny). Salmon was just okay.

We absolutely loved this experience! The train was beautifully restored. The staff were very knowledgeable about the history of the train. The table settings were adorable. The wines were very good choices. And the food was delicious. John did a terrific hob! And we really enjoyed talking to Bob. He was entertaining with his train knowledge. The service was above and beyond what we expected. We would love to take this trip again in the future!

Our party of six have not stopped talking about the experience. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable. The food was 5 star and the atmosphere was delightful. The wine pairing was on par with Napa or any of the finer Wineries. We highly recommend the Wine Train to you and all of our friends. We will be back!

Thank you for a wonderful experience. It was really neat. The food could have been better. The soup tasted like tomato water, not bisque. The green beans were not fresh. The dessert was not homemade. The wine was excellent!!!! I own a bakery in Nashville so I picked up on these things. Details matter and homemade (from a good cook!!) is always the best way to go!!!!

I thought that private dining for 2 would not be in the crowded dining car. Everything was good except that there were a couple plus tables that were extremely loud. I will say that John moved us to another car after the main course because it was so loud. Our waiter and John were excellent and provided excellent customer service

Was a fun experience. Loved the dining car and the big band music. Food sides could have had more variety. More creativity with the vegetable side. Two people pouring wine would have made this experience an overall 10.

1) Wish we knew there was open bar prior to getting on train, would of arrived earlier...zero alcohol was there when we arrived 20 mins early to train departing
2) last 30+ mins of the train ride there was zero wine given out
3) dont think we received all 4 portions of the wines:/
4) Some didnt like the sauce on the salmon (maybe consider putting sauce on side and folks can pour if they like it?)
5) Overall still enjoyed ourselves and neat experience. Could have potential to receive 10 on everything.

The food was great. Service was great except everyone got a refill and they forgot to come back to me when the wine bottle was empty. The term "private dining" is a little misleading for the Pullman car. Overall it was a nice experience.

Overall experience was wonderful. I rated lower than a 10 in two areas. The food was excellent for a convention style setting. Serving large amounts of people is never easy! Also the ambience received a nine rating because it was a little loud with a car full of people plus loud music.

The food was excellent. Our waiter would not come to our table and was a little rude. It was a neat experience. For over 350 and requesting (paying) the higher fee, we were put in the end with less ambiance...so I would verify which car you will be in. I would give it a 10 if not for those two items. Best part was unique ness and food. Improvements would be staff and uniform seating. The wine was delicious (when the waiter would come pour) I had 2 glasses :/
