A lively tapas bar situated in central Newquay specialising in fresh, local seafood. Taste the very freshest of fish direct from our own family boats and local fishermen to your table! We also cater for vegetarians, vegans, carnivores and all dietary requirements. We offer a full bar stocked with a variety of local beers, ciders and juices and selected international wines making The Fish Bar the perfect venue for a relaxed meal or a sociable drink and a nibble with friends.
Feel free to bring your dogs along with you - they are very welcome!
We are available for private functions or large groups- please contact us directly to discuss your requirements.
For a more casual Fish Bar experience small parties are welcome to visit our bar which serves a fantastic range of drinks and a daily changing tapas Platterboard menu - we don't take reservations in the bar - first come first served!

Our maximum party size is 6 people at busy times due to difficulties in moving tables when we’re busy - sorry! If you book separate tables please be sure to arrive at the times you have booked for each. At other times contact us directly to organise larger parties.
Our tables are mostly bar height - we do have a limited number of low tables - if you require a low table please let us know on the booking form, we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Frequently Asked Questions- Do you have parking?
- Yes, we are situated in a private car park with free parking for our guests but you must enter your car registration details into the portal at our reception desk
- Are dogs allowed?
- Dogs are very welcome!
- Do you have a children's menu?
- Children are very welcome - we have a couple of specific kids tapas dishes but we find that most children enjoy the tapas experience and sharing dishes from our main menu with their parents
- Do you have a gluten free menu?
- We don't have a specific gluten free menu but many of our dishes are naturally gluten free and, if you speak to our staff, we can tailor a lot of dishes to your requirements as our food is cooked fresh to order.
- Do you serve meat?
- We do indeed! Whilst we specialise in fish, we know that not everyone likes it and make sure that all other tastes are catered for.
- Do you cater for vegetarians and vegans?
- We absolutely do! You'll find some great vegetarian dishes on our menu and these can all be adapted for vegans too.
- How long will you hold my booking if I'm running late?
- We will hold your booking for you for 15 minutes after the time you are due to arrive. If you're going to be longer than this you can modify your booking by going back to the bookings portal or you can call us to re-schedule if possible
- How do I modify or cancel my booking?

- We do have both wheelchair access and an accessible toilet but please contact us directly by calling 01637 874152 or emailing [email protected] to make your reservation and we can make sure that we book you onto a suitable table

- Absolutely! Let us know the occasion and we can decorate your table and make arrangements for cakes, bubbly or whatever you might like!
- What is Tapas?
- Tapa (or Tapas for plural) means small plate in Spanish. The actual concept of Tapa varies greatly depending on where you are and can be anything from a little taster with a drink or a mix and match style meal to share with friends. At The Fish Bar you can treat our Tapas exactly how you want! Whether you fancy a little bite with a bottle of wine, a table full of mixed Tapas to share with friends, making a meal out of 2 or 3 dishes or ordering a dish or two at a time and see how it goes!
- How many dishes should I order?
- As a guideline we find about 2-3 dishes per person works well. But this obviously depends on your own appetite, how much you've eaten through the rest of the day and which dishes you order - some are much more filling than others! Why not do rolling tapas and just order a couple of dishes at a time until you're full!

Tiny portions (I live in Spain and I know how big a ración should be). Dried out hard meatballs (albóndigas) tapas. Server carrying child around on hip. Didn’t know difference between ale and larger. Ran out of skin-on fries at 7:30pm.Didn’t have fresh calamari (frozen only, so didn’t order). Overcharging error. On the plus the staff were friendly, but overall a very disappointing last meal of our holiday.

Nice vibe and ordering system but food was a bit lacking. Bland flavours, lots of fried options and patatas bravas was plain diced potatoes with a topping of bland tomato sauce rather than flavoured potatoes.

The Fish Bar gave us a fabulous experience. The staff were as attentive as we wanted them to be - neither pestering us, nor ignoring us. The light system worked really well. The food was wonderful - tasty and lots of variety. Also,fairly quick food service - giving us time to enjoy a glass of wine. It was a birthday celebration and we'll worth the visit. Our waitress Emily was brilliant, she was so tentative, knowledgeable and really happy to help, she advised us on what to have and how many portions to have. Lovely restaurant, made an effort by putting up some birthday bunting for us and bought out a cake we had supplied! Lovely waitress and the food was delicious, what I would say is there doesn't seem to be enough difference between the tapas bowls and the racioʻn bowls which are supposed to be a larger portion, next time we visit I would probably just order the tapas bowls but more choices.

what a lovely restaurant. I really appreciate the wonderful staff. they were kind, nice, helpful and not at all pushy. my only suggestion is that your menu lack healthy food and it is all fried which makes food unhealthy. really my only choice, was just one. that one option was a grilled one and it was absolutely delicious. Why not one more healthy choice like a haddock and clam chowder or something like that? People are getting health conscious and you need to review your menu to give more healthy options. but I really had a great time and hopefully see you in my next trip!

Very good all round. Props to our waitress who made it all work just fine. Menu could be a bit more varied and comprehensive - that being said, the patas bravas were the star of the show. Just wish it were in a more salubrious area of Newquay, preferably with a lovely view....
Will return next time we rock up in Newquay.

Only problem was that although we had a table reservation we had to wait in the bar for 15mins as our table wasn’t ready. On my booking we had a strict time limit and I assume that others were told when they needed to vacate their table too. We weren’t given menus when we were asked to wait otherwise we could have used the time to select our food. Once actually at our table all good.

Was looking forward to eat at The Fish Bar as we had positive comments about it but it didn’t really meet our expectations when we were there. Food was VERY slow. The kitchen was absolutely not coping. We expected quick service as it is a Tapas restaurant but from the time we got seated at our table, the first food came nearly an hour in. Their excuse was they’ve only just reopened after the lifting of the Covid restrictions and had new kitchen staff. They had all this time to train and make sure things run smoothly but it didn’t look like it at all. The food was average too.

We had a fabulous meal here last night, staff were very helpful and friendly and a waitress called Cerys was brilliant so helpful!! Will certainly be back when we’re in newquay again superb!! The bell system on each table was also an excellent idea!!!!
