Quite an adventure getting to The Countryman due to the roadworks which has closed the road but we got through OK and it was well worth the visit. The bollards closing the road will be moved to allow access so don’t be put off. Excellent service, lovely decor and the food was delicious so we will definitely be returning.

Great first visit, but definitely needs some extra ambiance when quieter at lunch time maybe suggest candles or similar, only a thought, would also suggest extra smaller portion options as I'm sure there are others who are also not huge eaters especially as main meals are very generous, otherwise lovely first visit

My only issue was,and it's just a personal thing, there were just too many dogs! I know everywhere now is dog friendly I just don't like it when I'm having a meal.
Perhaps you could have an area in the pub for dining that is dog free?

My husband and I were travelling thru the area and were looking for somewhere to have Sunday lunch when we just happened upon The Countryman.
We both had the Roast Beef which was plentiful. Asked for more gravy and were given a large jug without any hesitation.
We had to wait a wee bit for our lunch as our order had got lost in the kitchen. Waitress was very apologetic and the lovely meal more than made up for our wait. Would definitely recommend and if in the area again will pay another visit.

The food was fantastic, all of the Sunday lunches were delicious, I had the Scampi which was also delicious, everything was cooked to perfection - thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be back. Couldn't have been more happy with our meal and experience. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and genuinely concerned when our dessert took a bit longer than usual. I loved the outdoor area where there were tables to sit at on a sunny day.

Excellent food - if I had a complaint it would be that Sunday lunch with no mash seemed odd but definitely did not take the shine off our food. 3 Sunday lunch and 1 nut roast which my daughter said was the best she had had - 3 desserts - I pint of beer 2 pints of coke and a glass of wine and bill was £101.00. More than worth it.

Hi loved the place!! really beautiful inside and the sofa and fire where a lovely feature, staff were brilliant took time to talk with our granddaughter
My only point is I would have preferred my pie as a slab pie and the gravy served separately
Definitely be back and would 100% recommend
