We have not eaten at the 5 Bells for a few years because of previous service problems, but now they are under new management it is a totally different story. The food we had was exceptional indeed, in fact the steak was the best I have every eaten and I am in my 70's. The dessert was again exceptional indeed. The service was friendly, polite and quick, and the price was not cheap but well worth the cost. I sincerely hope they keep up this high standard because I am looking forward to returning!

A beautiful little pub from the outside & a warm welcome from the young female waitress.
Food was served quickly and the presentation looked great, but that's when it went downhill.
We both chose roast beef and the slices that came were very thick and very hard to cut through. The roasties were tasteless and the horseradish had a chemical taste to it.
The veg was fine and a great Yorkshire pud tho. We were not asked how it was until we had finished.
When the landlord came over, I said that neither of us had enjoyed the beef, but that I would take it away for my friends dog. There was no real apology or concern shown. We declined dessert and just had coffee.
Disappointing all round & a real shame, as they have a lovely pub there.

I have already emailed Revived Inns, giving my (negative) views on the Table Agent booking system. In fact we nearly didn't make a booking, as when trying to book, it appeared that the Pub/Restaurant was exceptionally busy. In fact we were the only people eating. There were only about another two people with a drink in the bar area at the time.

Lovely old pub with lots of parking, bags of character and each little area having a slightly different ambience. Very friendly welcome and service timing about right. The lunch time menu at just £12.50 is excellent value and the portions for us were just right (I find most mains far too generous to cope with). The liver and bacon was tasty, good texture and flavour. The cheesy garlic bread starter was enough for us to share. Very good, but the cheese topping masked the garlic somewhat. My 'mini' cheesecake with coffee was certainly good value, but I wondered if I was served a normal size one, as it was huge! My glass of Shiraz tasted better than a normal house red, and my husband was delighted with his tomato juice, as he was offered all three of the additives to enhance it to his liking (many places only have a ready mixed version). We enjoyed our lunch at the Five Bells very much.

Still bedding in after long shut down and new management. Good portions but roast beef too much connective tissue. Kale underdone but red cabbage great. Lovely staff but need better training. Well done though and good to have you back in the village

The steaks and chips were beautiful, didn't think much of the rocket garnish, supposed to be a salad.
The desserts were a discrase, banoffee pie was just a pile of crushed digestive biscuit thin squirty cream and a few slices of banana no proper toffee sauce centre.
The waffle was un cooked and some of the fruit on top was rotten. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Lunch on a Tuesday for 4 adults plus 2yr old . Such a good choice as so much seating room in the 5 Bells . Charming lady running the place and enjoyed beef bourguignon , plus excellent apple crumble and hot custard . Easy parking and will visit again

Went on steak night, upgraded , one was perfect other was sinewy. Offered deserts to overcome disappointment. Table was very sticky, not all chairs had cushions.

Unfortunately, we were the only table eating on a Monday lunchtime but the meal from the Christmas menu was really good, well cooked and so much food that we couldn’t tackle dessert. Maybe so much on the plate wasn’t necessary, however delicious.
