My friend and I went to the Half Moon for Sunday lunch. It was a warm day so we didn't want to order any of the roast mains. We instead ordered 2 starters which were delicious but very small. They cost £8 each so we paid the equivalent of a main course. We were disappointed that the portions were so small. There was nothing on the mains menu that was suitable for those not wanting roasts or fried food.

Lovely host, good food. Background music a bit intrusive although turned down when we mentioned it I don't really see the need for it at all especially as it wasn't a party but dinner where we wanted to talk. Would overall recommend and will definitely go again.

Lovely to sit beside open bi-fold doors on a hot summer evening. Enjoyed the charcuterie board to start and everyone enjoyed their main courses. Great that there was a mini dessert with coffee, but would be good to have a choice of a few others. Service was very good.

Attractive surroundings. The staff were very friendly but slow service. Most of the food was very good - steak, desserts, but the vegetarian pie was almost inedible - no taste of cheese and just a rather glutinous consistency and no flavour.

The pub is lovely inside and out and the staff friendly. We ordered the kids fish and chips which was fine but also the steak and ale pie of the day which was honestly terrible. The meat was unpleasantly tough and stringy, the gravy watery and the potato tasted like it came out a packet. Really not ok to charge £16 for this. I couldn’t finish the meal which has never happened to me before! Such a shame as I really wanted to love this pub- hopefully the kitchen was just having an off day but not sure I’d risk going back.

Whilst the waiter was very attentive, we had to wait over half an hour for our food even though the restaurant wasn't full. I appreciate some dishes take longer than others to prepare but we all three had burgers. Nevertheless we will go again as we still enjoyed ourselves there.

The Half Moon is a lovely pub with lots of character, good beer and friendly service. However, we were disappointed in the food: my pork loin was tasteless and the burgers and fish/ chips were soggy. I was also surprised that the default service %'s on the credit card machine started at 15% and went upwards, which is very unusual in the UK. You had to do a "custom tip" to change it to a more usual 10% or 12.5%

From car park, the rear entrance is dangerous as poor lighting and steps not marked and handrail rotting.
Interior was dingy and lacked comfort, however the young staff tried hard and the steak was delicious, but the salad was a bit limp. We will return as the steak was lovely.

Had Sunday lunch. Food was well cooked and nicely presented. We both had the lamb. My lamb shoulder was more bone than meat but it was very tasty.
Unfortunately there was a power outage just after the food was served so not sure what the ambiance and service would be like under normal conditions.

Setting is amazing, lovely beer garden and great for the kids. Love the idea of the pizza bar outside but it just didn't deliver. The staff were underprepared for the amount of guests, and the food was sub par. We even heard the guy serving us saying to another member of staff that came to help him - 'have you any idea how to make pizzas?' to which the reply was 'nope'. I'd go again for the gorgeous setting but I probably wouldn't eat there. Such a shame.

We had a delightful waitress who couldn’t have been more helpful.
I was in a group of four and although they all enjoyed their meals, my fish was absolutely full of bones, that could have been removed before I got it and my potato’s were not fully cooked, they were very hard. The other vegetables were lovely. Apart from this it was a very pleasant meal.

Lovely outdoor area for the kids to play and easy car parking. Food was pretty good with a good menu, but service was very slow and staff communicating with one another by endless shouting made it very noisy when there was hardly anyone there!
