We have enjoyed two evening meals at the Black Bull in the past week. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and efficient and we loved the authentic atmosphere of the pub including the historical press articles and photos of the people of Gartmore in the Red room. In all, our visits have been highly enjoyable experiences and when we return to Scotland in future we will go back to eat at the Black Bull. Thankyou.

I have to rate it at a 10 all round, it's a lovely small hotel/pub in a particularly pretty village that has great views of the countryside. Lovely warm welcome, nice large dining room with smaller rooms available, well priced pub style food that was properly prepared and tasted great on piping hot plates, service was cheerful and personal, bar was cosy and the beer well kept so it hit all the boxes for this class of venue.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal at the Black Bull during our one night stay The staff provided an excellent, friendly, efficient service. We both ordered the Chef's Chicken which was excellent ...but sadly, we were so
full we had no room for a desert. The breakfast was also excellent.

Visited when there was a large function in the adjacent village hall, the bar and restaurant staff were efficient and unflustered.
A few tourists were a bit upset that they could not take alcoholic drinks from bar into village hall.
Scottish law does not allow open containers off the premises, the beer garden IS part of the premises, but the village hall is not.
This was explained calmly and a few visitors had a very quick drink in the beer garden before the function started.

Our first time at the Black Bull and fully enjoyed the experience. Steak pie marginally too salty for one of our party. We intend to repeat the experience in the near future.

Lovely pub, great service - but the food was really not impressive. £22 for a fish course which was fish fingers, a couple of new potato’s and a few frozen veg sprinkled on. I wish I’d ordered something else.

It’s rare on holiday to find a pub where everyone is so welcoming, locals and staff alike. The food was delicious, and our need for a gluten free meal was easily accommodated. I enjoyed the beer on tap. We wish we lived closer so we could be part of this amazing community venture but will definitely visit again.
