- On weekends, we serve from both our Brunch menu which has a lot of regular lunch items, until 3PM. After that, from our Dinner menu.

The ratings bar stays at a 10 on every category. This was our first visit, the food was incredible, and our server was second to none. Very personable, and did an excellent job managing the room while working alone. She was quite busy but managed to get get every course out on time, with a very friendly, professional manner. Between the food and service we were very impressed. We will definitely be back!

Not sure you can make things any better. All was well. Katrina was enthusiastic, good sense of humor and most pleasant to chat with. The food was perfect. There was a table of 10 that did not show up and did not cancel, what a pity and a waste of resources. Not sure what can be done about this, hoping you keep track of this. This was one of the best restaurant experiences in recent memory. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We were a party of 10 and the service was as smooth and seamless as if we were a couple, and with one server! We will definitely think about Dickie Baxter for fine dining, as well as a place to celebrate family milestones! The wonderful art work of Heather Lohr also deserves special mention! First time here, the shared appetizer of olives and feta was delicious as were the haddock and tofu bowl (best tofu in NS). Also the chocolate mousse cake! Only comment would be a vegetarian option or two as a main- we were happy to be accommodated with the tofu though.

It felt very rushed from the minute we got there. It was our first visit. It was an okay visit. Servers were nice but rushed us along. Didn’t even get a chance to finish our Apps before Mains came out. Ordered the same thing, mine was chewy and underdone. My friends was excellent. Our server seemed like put off that we wanted desserts and had questions about them.
I will go back if a friend invites me to go. I won’t avoid going there, it just won’t be at the top of my list.

We were greeted nicely and directed to our table but could have been walked over. Quick service. Cassidy our wait staff was awesome. Our food came quickly and it was delicious!! Ambience was a little noisy because there were two large tables that came in and the high ceilings hold the noise. Maybe some sound absorption installed?? Nice to have local fare which escalates the price somewhat but overall, good value. Thank you to the kitchen chefs and staff!!

Fabulous!!!! The lobster risotto and salmon curry were excellent. The wine choices were very good. The decor was first rate. Totally unexpected for the little village of Canning. Interesting contrast between the outside of the building (very traditional) and the inside (totally updated with nice artwork. Looking forward to also trying the renovated Christany's Brassery.

It was very busy so we had to wait a long time even to get water, nevermind to get our food ordered. However, the food was excellent and always is everytime I go. We went back later in the day for a drink, and sat on the patio- the server barely checked on us, maybe she forgot there were people out there? We love everything about Dickie-Baxter. They tick all of the boxes: excellent and creative food offerings, completely lovely employees, and the venue is superb. We've never had a bad experience at Dickie-Baxter - it's one of our favourites.

The last two times my wife and I have gone we have had Katrina. There is not another place in the valley you can go, and get that level of service. She picked up that I didn’t use my straw or lime and didn’t bring one the next drink. Then when we went back a month later she remembered my drink. We were blown away. The food was amazing as always, but the service is what has us coming back. We have told everyone about it and look forward to booking another reservation again soon.

Dinner is expensive but delicious, love to see more vegan or vegetarian options on the supper menu. Service is always professional and personal. The restaurant is LOUD. Maybe needs some fabric to absorb some of the noise.

Our dinner was absolutely delicious as always and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our server was taxed with drink and food orders. I’m not sure if they expected such a busy Sunday night.

It is so refreshing to have a nice place to eat in the Village. The food was wonderful and tasty, and the atmosphere was cozy and quaint. The staff were very friendly and polite. I really enjoyed my evening.
