Jardin is located in the center of the historic beach town of Cape May, NJ, tucked into a charming French, Second Empire Victorian home serving French cuisine that is eco-friendly, with local ingredients, and 95% dairy free. We offer a pre-fix, 10 course tasting menu with a 6:30pm seating only. The dinner price does not include tax and gratuity. Jardin is a BYOB but also offers a wide variety of wines from local Hawk Haven Vineyard.

Think of the dinner Jardin at the Hughes as a full sensory experience. The chief certainly shows some serious cooking techniques especially infusing flavors from dehydrated veggies and fungi, sauces and artistry in food display. The service was efficient while providing a well paced yet leisurely meal. Especially enjoyed the faux foiegras, scallop and breads with carrot butter. Thought the English tea course while clever didn’t fit in the flow … might have worked better at the end. Don’t forget any drinks you desire alcoholic or otherwise as they only offered water

If you want to see just how well you can eat with a plant-based diet, look no further than the vegan option at Jardin at The Hugh. An exceptional culinary experience backed by great service and a lovely ambiance. NOT your typical resort town over-priced, under-delivered dining. This is an exceptional chef doing first class work. Folks on either side of our table had the “normal menu” that included scallops and duck and were equally impressed. Get a reservation before the wait list becomes endless.

My second time dining at Jardin and I'm looking forward to my third. Our evening started with enjoying the outside porch before we were brought in to our table. The inside porch at The Hugh is a lovely place for dinner.
We started with locally sourced crudites and from there we let the ten course journey begin. Each course was just wonderful and we all looked forward to the next. There were plenty of oohs and aahs as we were presented with plates that were beautiful and more importantly tasted amazing. This plant forward menu left us all in amazement. The aroma from the mushroom risotto, reminded me of when I was young, eating the wild mushrooms my grandfather would pick for us. I've never smelled them like that since and they tasted just as good. Our scallop course and duck course were also delicious. Each course was wonderfully explained when it was served and it was fun to sample all the tastes from all the details that were included in each dish. Chef Schultz came out to chat and check up on us, and service was impeccable. Our evening was to celebrate a birthday but sampling Jardin with the seasons is going to be our plan. Thank you for a memorable evening.

Everything was perfect! From the moment we arrived I knew it was going to be a very memorable experience. The owner, Sandy, personally came out and spent some time with us. So nice. Classy design, a New York City kinda vibe. Very relaxing. Very intimate dinning room. Oh and Chef Michael Shultz is awesome along with the staff. As each plate was served it was explained from ingredients to any story behind the preparation of it. Every plate was a work of art. Everything was cooked to perfection the flavors were amazing. Chef Michael visited each table to see if you are enjoying and if there were any questions. PLEASE if you visit Cape May this is a restaurant you don’t want to miss!

We cant say enough wonderful things about our meal!! With each course, it just got better and better. We couldn't even choose our favorite....Candace our server was also a sweetheart. Very knowledgeable and she also made the experience fun. Already looking forward next year!!
We also stayed at the Hugh, which was also amazing. Owners were so lovely and accommodating....and that bed!! Just heaven. Our new favorite place in Cape May!!

This was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. Foams, jellies, powders....all made from veggies. It was such a creative menu. We were asked to arrive by 6 pm for the 630 pm seating. It would have nice to have a complementary small glass of proseca while we waited. We were offered the opportunity to open our bottle of wine but that was brought to pair with dinner. The food was interesting, creative and very good. The presentations were equally well done.

The food was unusual and very creative. The evening was a little too long, though. We thought that it might be more effective if we were served family style. Since we are all served the same food, it might be more interesting to have more interaction with the staff in a communal setting, rather than have them constantly telling the same story about the next course to 10 different guests.

This dinner was fun but just wasn’t for us. We have done similar type of experiences before but this missed its mark with the food. The starting courses had a heavy focus on plants and veggies that I struggled with the textures and flavors. The seafood, meat, and dessert courses were good. Everything was presented beautifully but for the price, I would want to love it all. I found I disliked more than I liked. The staff was welcoming and the chef came to visit everyone’s table which is nice and personal. These types of experiences are fun and adventurous and create lasting memories. We love Cape May and their wonderful restaurants. This one just missed its mark for us.

Food was wonderful - creative & top quality ingredients. The problem was the unbearable noise level - we could not hear our server describe the dishes or easily converse across the table. I think the problem was mostly one very loud table, but they may need to consider installing some sound dampening materials. At that price, please, please serve coffee and tea with dessert.
