Food is lovely but a tad expensive, having said that it's about the overall experience which was excellent. Just need to be aware the pie is just a pastry top. We've been a couple of times now and would certainly recommend. Parking is good

We had pork belly, sirloin roast and the pork and leak pie, all very very good along with balanced gravy and veggies. very good wine list even though missing some Italian reds :) amazing service and amazing puddings. A little pricy but well worth it

What a lovely cosy pub. Had a lovely Sunday Roast, can highly recommend. Excellent roast potatoes.
Super friendly bar staff and the best fire on the Marsh.

This is a gem of a find. We have been 4 times now and have never been disappointed. The staff are lovely, friendly and give a welcoming smile. The food itself is quite superb, even better when they have the fillet steak on special! The chef knows his stuff and cooks everything to perfection. He was quite concerned when I wanted salmon pan fried in oil (it was in a sauce on the menu) and sent the waitress out twice to voice his concern as he thought the “look” of the food would look bland and unappealing on the plate. Now that’s a chef with passion. Just one small point, I wish that they would add, say, steak and ale pie and maybe lamb shank to the mains - just an idea.
Keep up the high standard you have made and we will keep coming back!

Really enjoyed our trip to the Woolpack. Our only reservation would be the use of wooden platters. They’re not the easiest things to eat appetising food from! Had the Sunday roast -
Food was absolutely delicious but only thing was it was cold - only the cauli cheese was hot. We came at 2pm so decided we’d need to come earlier to get it hot. Will be back though as it was so tasty!

The Woolpack has new owners and has been refurbished. They’ve kept the character of the pub and it looks great. The fire in the bar area is still the cosy inglenook. The food was very good as was the choice of both food and drink. It was a bonus that the pub was open on Monday. The site allows you to easily book online. We’ll definitely be back.

Our second visit. Good service, excellent ambience and value. The one disappointment was the "Pie of the Day." A pie should have a top, sides and a bottom and not simply a pastry top over the contents served in a small individual dish.
What was served was tasty but put bluntly contravened the Trades Description Act.
Next time we visit I will order the pie but send it back if it does not confirm to the general understanding of what a pie should consist of.......Sorry for the "rant."

Nice renovated pub tastefully done.
Food very good but over expensive. £18 for Ham, Egg & Chips is pretty expensive compared with similar in the area. Sausage & Mash no fresh vegetables which was surprising.
Compromised by the added 10% service charge which is always aggravating. Normally leave our own tip depending on Service.
Overall, staff excellent, food very good if not slightly over priced. Good to see the pub back in action but would ask the landlord to review the service charge. Customers do not like to feel embarrassed by challenging it.

The new owner should have given much more thought before painting over the original oak beams, doors etc of an historic, unique, 15th century, listed, smugglers' inn on the Marsh. The heart has sadly been ripped out of the place that previous owners always did their best to preserve. The Woolpack was far from being a gentrified, chichi, N.London gastro pub and never should be. There you have it!

Two of our party had the roast dinner, well, hunt for the vegetables!!! One broccoli spear, one parsnip and a little carrot, all smothered in gravy, which I think should be served separately. For the price we were very disappointed so will not be returning.

Roast Chicken Leg was raw inside. Yorkshire Pudding when replacement meal came out was like crisps. 10% service charge added to the bill which i wouldnt have seen if i hadnt checked it. Shame as other meals were 10/10, i will right it off as a bad day in the kitchen
