Mesob Ethiopian Restaurant of Montclair, NJ is a favorite for both vegans & meat lovers with its authentic Ethiopian food. Since we opened in October 2003 all of our foods are prepared with imported Ethiopian spices blended daily. Our produce is always fresh and our sauces are prepared as ordered. The friendly staff and warm décor makes Mesob the perfect place to relax with family and friends. Our Injera, a delicious sourdough Ethiopian flat bread that you wrap your food with, makes Mesob a favorite with kids, where it’s a treat to “eat with your hands.” (but we also have silverware, if you prefer!) Delicious food and lovely service. One of us had Doro Wat while the other had a sampler. We are every bite. Drove 1 1/2 hours to get there and it was so worth it. We’ll be back.

Brought 2 friends with me. One came with me last time and absolutely LOVED her first (and second) experience. She's been talking about how good it was for months to her husband. We felt very entreated and like we were part of the family. Everyone works smoothly together, all of the mixed meats and vegetables were delicious, we were offered more bread as we were running out, and we liked being able to take home the leftovers. It made a yummy lunch the next day. My wife was surprised by the happy birthday, and she loved the dessert. If we weren't about to move to the Trenton area, we would be back soon. Ever considered expanding your business and opening a location in the Princeton area?

I keep going back to this place over and over again. Always an amazing service from the staff and a friendly owner. Food is worth making the trip for. Parking is easy if you go to the YMCA lot. They will accommodate you for a big group too. It’s always more fun to share it with friends and family!

We have been eating at Mesob for over 20 years. It is our favorite Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant, and we’ve eaten at Ethiopian restaurants in other cities and countries. They have maintained the excellent food taste and quality over the years. The owners are always welcoming and friendly and make you feel at home. We were greeted promptly upon arriving and shown to the table we had reserved. In fact we were greeted before we even went in by a lovely woman who was outside and I believe is the owner. Our server made a timely check in to see if we had any questions about the menu. We actually did not but were still deciding sides that come with all entrees amongst ourselves so we could taste the most things. Our meal came out in good time and we were checked in with after to see if we needed anything. The place is beautifully decorated and seats a lot, the restaurant was full and it was moderately loud, but we had no problem hearing each other. I'm so sorry I did not get the owner's name. She came to our table both during and after dinner to look in on us and we had a wonderful conversation with her. She shared a personal story with us that made our whole experience just that much better. There is nothing better than that personal touch that makes dining out such a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend Mesob.

Everything was great. From the moment we walked in to the fantastic food and teas and the chocolate tort was the best we ever had anywhere. The service was bright and friendly and fast from the waiter to the food runner from the kitchen. We had an incredible dining experience at Mesob restaurant in Montclair NJ. The atmosphere was relaxing, the staff was very helpful and the food was delicious. We had one vegan sampler platter and one with meat options and both came separate which was very considerate. Highly recommend this establishment and cant wait to come back and try more.
