We are a traditional country pub nestled in the delightful village of Great Ayton, on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. Originally a coaching inn, the pub dates back to the 17th century and oozes charm and character, with its original beams and cosy log fires.

Upstairs At Institution is a boutique cafe situated on the busy high street of Bedale and accessed via the Institution shop. Serving breakfast, lunch and more, the menus are made up of classic fresh dishes with a twist, served simply with the emphasis on quality ingredients. The cafe is also licensed, with a great wine list… a great place to relax as the world goes by, meet friends and take a little time for yourself.

At The Yorkshire Pie and Mash Shop, you will always receive a very warm Yorkshire welcome, whether dining alone or with your friends and family. You will be able to enjoy 'wholesome hospitality from a bygone era', enjoying the World War Two themed surroundings, relaxing and listening to those old favourite songs quietly playing in the background, while maybe reminiscing about childhood memories in a positive and reflective way, and celebrate the cohesiveness and spirit of Britain's population as they faced the challenge and resolution of the Second World War.
