The Old School Tea Room at Carburton in Nottinghamshire is housed in an old schoolhouse, built in the 1930s. It was last used as a school in 1976. We have tried to keep the feel of the old school even though we have done some refurbishment. We serve breakfast, lunch and traditional and clotted cream teas. We serve illy coffee and our baristas are trained by illy caffé to their exacting standards. We also serve Punjana tea. All our scones are homemade on the day.

Traditional Sunday lunch which was exactly what all four of our party wanted. Service excellent - friendly and efficience but not rushing us. Particularly impressed by how the staff coped with late arrival of very large party of cyclists without impacting on the other parties.

We had afternoon tea for two to celebrate my friend's birthday. The dining room is lovely, perfectly decorated, and everyone was welcoming. It was a cold, snowy day, and yet there were plenty of cars in the carpark, because the journey is worthwhile even in bad weather. The atmosphere is country-kitchen cosy. The menu choice was plentiful; the food arrived quickly and was delicious. I cannot think of anything that needs changing. Our lunch was simply a joy.

Lovely to see it open again, and the food was up to the usual high standard. Perhaps ask if you want coleslaw then you can bring more than a thimbleful of it.
Asked for 2 glasses of water as it was a very warm day, didn’t get them but didn’t chase up as the staff looked busy when they did come into the food area and couldn’t catch their eye. Other than that had a fabulous delicious afternoon tea thank you.

We have been to the Old School Tearooms on 3 separate occasions recently and have enjoyed each visit during these testing and unprecedented times. A limited menu is in place but that does not deter from the selection that it is made available to guests including Sandwiches, Jacket Potatoes, Paninis as well as a good range of cakes and hot drinks. First time visit since the lockdown was eased... and to be fair a very normal-ish experience
Apart from the tables-being taped off to separate diners For social distancing

We arrived to have breakfast just after they opened. Generally excellent experience. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was very good. We have been there before and really like the place. The only small criticism was that the room was not very warm (it is a big room with a high ceiling) and was only heated by a log fire in one corner, so far as we could see. This also meant that the food cooled down quite quickly. However we do understand that it had only just opened, at present heating costs are exorbitant and we didn't ask about extra heating - this may have been available.

The place is lovely but the room was so cold they had a lovely log burner but unfortunately there was not enough heat . I know the weather has been really cold outside but you do not want to be cold going out for a meal.

Have been here a few times for lunch. As usual food was lovely,well presented and tasty. The menu has been modified a little, not offering as much choice as pre-covid, but still a varied selection. It was quite busy, but not too frantic as previous visits.
We booked a table as advised to avoid disappointment.
Overall an enjoyable experience and I would thoroughly recommend a visit here.
