The Old School Tea Room at Carburton in Nottinghamshire is housed in an old schoolhouse, built in the 1930s. It was last used as a school in 1976. We have tried to keep the feel of the old school even though we have done some refurbishment. We serve breakfast, lunch and traditional and clotted cream teas. We serve illy coffee and our baristas are trained by illy caffé to their exacting standards. We also serve Punjana tea. All our scones are homemade on the day.

We had afternoon tea for two to celebrate my friend's birthday. The dining room is lovely, perfectly decorated, and everyone was welcoming. It was a cold, snowy day, and yet there were plenty of cars in the carpark, because the journey is worthwhile even in bad weather. The atmosphere is country-kitchen cosy. The menu choice was plentiful; the food arrived quickly and was delicious. I cannot think of anything that needs changing. Our lunch was simply a joy.

Lovely to see it open again, and the food was up to the usual high standard. This tea room is a regular place for my wife and I to visit , always good food and beverages before the lockdown, nothing’s changed since they have reopened except the COVID reopening measures , still good food and beverages in These challenging times , well done carburton tea rooms

Lovely Sunday lunch at the tea rooms. Friendly helpful staff. Reasonably priced food. Only suggestion would have been nice to have more full hot meal options other than the Sunday lunch. Was just that or the normal menu

On the online booking form it asked if there was a reason for our visit. I said birthday. The staff never mentioned or acknowledged the birthday so why put it on the form?
