Down by the San Carlos beach on the edge of the pier, sits Osteria Al Mare (Restaurant at the sea, in Italian). Come enjoy the beautiful pier, sea lions, and the taste of the old country.
All of our ingredients are locally sourced and are as fresh as could be found. While our menu does change to reflect the freshest of ingredients, we offer such stables as Fritto Di Calamari, Stinco di Maiale alla Birra (beer braised pork shank) and our Pan-seared salmon. These items Maurizio perfected in Italy more than 30 years ago.

Great spot owner is awesome truly passionate about his craft. Staff was attentive quick and cheery. I love how they did not bash me for being a man who could demolish 2 appetizers 2 Entrees and 2 deserts. Loved all the food highly reccomend the braised short rib. Also took 2 paninis home for later and even cold they were thoroughly enjoyable

We're so glad that friends introduced us to this restaurant a few years ago. We've had consistently tasty meals every time. Highly recommend their pastas. One of my favorites are the sand dabs - lightly breaded and served on pesto linguine. Try to go when the sun's still up as the views of the water/wharf are terrific!

This was my first time at Osteria al Mare and I would definitely return. Three of us each tried the different specials for the evening and each bite was so delicious. Sand dabs, black cod, and sole were each well prepared and complemented with pasta, potatoes, and risotto, respectively. Service was friendly and efficient. It's on my "short list" of recommended restaurants in the Monterey Bay area.

The Caesar salad and calamari were perfect starters for us (party of 3). Two of us got the scallop with ravioli special and the other ordered the fettuccine al funghi and we all LOVED our dishes! Our server was funny and attentive and the rest of the staff was just as great. It was rainy so the view wasn’t the best it could be, but still beautiful in a different way. The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. We had the most tender fried calamari ever. Server was so gracious when we said we were celebrating our 55th Anniversary, presented us with a delicious Tiramisu with compliments. This restaurant was recommend by our hotel, Monterey Bay Inn and we were overwhelmed with the food and service. Will return on our next trip to Monterey.

What an amazing experience! The food is fresh and authentic Italian cuisine. The mussels were the best I’ve ever had and so was the Tiramisu. The service was also top notch! A definite must go to restaurant.
