In Japanese mythology, a Tanuki is a shapeshifting prankster, a playful creature with a big heart. We believe dining out should be a fun experience, serving up dishes that make you amused, inquisitive, and, most of all, happy. We love everything Japanese, but we also love the fun of modern American street food, so we did what we wanted to do... put them together for creations that are unique and unbelievably flavorful.

Waited 25 mins for a table despite my reservations.
Staff did not bother to attend to us. Eventually when he did, which was 15 minutes later. He told us that they were understaffed and could only attend to us after they attended to people who were already seated. Didn’t give me a chance to tell him that I had a reservation and he quickly walked away. It was strange as there were many empty seats and their kitchen staff had nothing to do. Even if we had to wait, please at least let us know what is happening.

Overall experience is good, however when we arrived we were told that they did not get our reservation although we showed them email confirmation. This is of course not the fault of the staff who was attending to us, in fact he got us seats right away. Just take note that this doesn’t happen again especially if you have customers making reservation for extremely important occasion like mine (wedding anniversary) and the restaurant is full house!

Service wise - Don was professional and friendly. Compliments to him. However, there was some technical issues with the system and my Changi Rewards could not go through. The telephone number (85904900) on Table Agent (and Tanuki Raw) is not working. Value-for-money, if I did not use my Changi staff pass and Jewel Voucher, then, it's slightly on the high side. We wanted to sake but Tanuki only had it as a cocktail or the 90ml glass with a big ice cube, which we found to be rather sweet. So that was a bit of disappointment. Staff service, generally friendly but I sense some were still a bit 'rusty' (or new) and thus not familiar. However, they were eager to serve so I'd applaud that and happy for the business as the restaurant was quite crowded.

Staffs were very attentive and pleasant. My reservation was at 7pm, however they are able to welcome us to our seats earlier as I happened to arrive early at 6.30pm. Our attending staff were very knowledgeable and even extend us happy hours deal despite the time period of the deal is almost over. Food serving were fantastic and it taste delicious. My first visit to the outlet and they will definitely be going to see me visiting quite frequent. Ambience is gorgeous and it's a great place for a date and/or a place to just chill with your loved ones.

I arrived early and was allocated a high chair to wait for my table is being prepared. Water was served. Had to wait awhile to order the food as the staff was busy.
Ordered the highball without indicating a non-alcoholic version and they had it replaced for 1 glass (which was really thoughtful).
Serving of the portion of rice can be a little bit more - otherwise all good! :)

Hoping to enjoy free sashimi so we open a bottle of white before HH. To our disappointment, they hv hit quota for the day. $2 oyster was so tiny and not juicy to our delight. Super disappointing as we went for this oyster promo. Menu very limited esp. choice of side dishes. Sashimi platter costly. Hard to pair side dishes with drinks. Don bowls will be too full for patrons who prefer just nibs with drinks. Wouldnt go or refer frens unless more choice of food or guaranteed HH entitlements. There seems to be shortage of manpower, I have a booking and queue at the entrance for 5mins, nobody came to ask about reservation or walk-in although table is already ready. For lunch the ambience is no good, too sunny, not enough umbrella shade for all tables. Staff was helpful enough to change my table to a shady table, otherwise, it really would spoilt my lunch. Food is value for money.

My wife and I chose Tanuki Raw - Jewel as our Wedding anniversary place of having a meal because we had a meal there once and it ticked all our boxes. Simply relaxing and amazing. While booking a reservation, we thought it would be fun to state that we were celebrating said occasion as the reservation form asked if there is an occasion. To our delight, we were served a complimentary item and it just really warms both our hearts so much, we deeply appreciate the gesture and the amazing attitude of each individual staff present that day.
It has since became our official Wedding anniversary meal restaurant. Keep doing what you do Tanuki Raw - and that is having excellently nurtured staff.

Enjoyed the beef bowl with foie gras and truffle. Realised they had happy hour and tried their cocktails which was nice. While we were having beer, cocktails and spritz, Robert the bartender made us a delicious southside and a new cocktail he was experimenting with milk oolong tea and raspberry shrub. Really good stuff! Thanks to his attentiveness and hospitality we left having had a memorable experience at Tanuki Raw.

Service was excellent. Really friendly and prompt service. The cocktails were also great. Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. Ordered the jewel truffle wagyu don with foie gras- there was no trace of truffle at all. Couldn’t even detect the slightest scent of it. The foie gras was overcooked so instead of being pleasantly soft and almost melt-in-your-mouth, it was hard and I’ve never had an overdone foie gras before. The truffle fries were also a let down as the seasoning was mostly salt more than anything, with the mushrooms on top being rather soggy, thus making the crisp fries soggy as well. for all these, I wouldn’t say that the price was worth it. Perhaps it’s just the Jewel outlet because I’ve had better food at the town outlet

My friends and I went for lunch, served by warm hospitality from EJ and his team. Service was prompt with appropriate dose of humour. Service team asked for feedback of food and drinks, and tried to see if there was anything needed to enhance our dining experience. Overall experience - fantastic.

I’m not quite sure if the oysters are fresh honestly. Some food ordered during the HH is charged normal price. Our bad for not checking prior to paying but I think shouldn’t happen in the first place

Waited 45 mins and realised that other tables which ordered later was served but ours still wasn’t. Upon checking with the staff the staff then realised that our order was left out unprocessed. Staff didn’t not manage to handle the situation well enough and left us hanging without the knowledge that we will still have to wait how long for food to be served. Need persistence reminder and prompting request for the kitchen to expedite on my order. No experience and initiative on handing such situation. Push the blame to the staff that did not processed the order. Overall experience was very bad.

It was pretty disappointing that the oysters were sold out which is supposed to be the highlight for the dinner. Restaurants should portion out food to avoid disappointment for customers.
Order the chirashi and added udon but turned out, it was linguine. The dish was on the tasteless side as well expect the refreshing part which I believe refers to chill

The uncooked items(starters) like the assorted sashimi and shucked oysters were forgotten/came later than the main dishes. The taste of milo vodka can be improved, can't really taste the milo flavour as the vodka taste was too overpowering.

I love the ambience! It's really nice to just sit there. I also thought the social distancing measures were done quite well and there was enough space between tables, leaving a table between each occupied one empty! Made me feel safer. Food was good too! And the staff were helpful and nice!

A little disappointed with the quality of food. The beef that they used is not good ( I have had good ones many times previously in the city branch). The food was also only Luke warm instead of piping hot.
Nevertheless, the service was good and the staff were all friendly & helpful.

Firstly they did not have my online reservation but fortunately there were plenty of vacant tables.
The food was just average.
The service was nonchalant. We gave feedback that the soup was way too saltish and just received a reply ‘oh ok’. No apologies or that they will inform the chef. We Told her that wanted to let the chef know so that he could perhaps do some adjustments to the rest of the soup.
The ambience is so lacking compared to the other eateries around them like artistique bistro which was just across from them.

I feel that the design of the tables and chairs of your restaurant can be nicer. It looks too simple, similar to those in a food court as compared to the other restaurants nearby. Overall, service & food are great! :)
