Frequently Asked Questions- How do I pay the deposit for my Afternoon Tea booking?
- Go to our online store https://dr-foxs-tearoom.sumup.link/afternoon-tea-deposit to pay £5 per guest. This will secure your booking. No deposit is required if you are redeeming a Gift Voucher - just put your Voucher code on the booking form.
- Why do you need 48 hours notice to book Afternoon Tea?
- All our Afternoon Teas are handmade to order. We are a small team and to ensure we have the best and freshest ingredients for your visit we need a bit of time to prepare and order in. This also helps us to avoid unnecessary waste.
- What sandwich fillings do you offer? Can I change them?
- Our standard fillings for Afternoon Tea for Two are: Egg & Rocket, Mature Cheddar & Red Onion Chutney, Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese and of course Cucumber! We also offer Beef and Ham for larger bookings but we're happy to make whatever makes you happy, just put it in the request box!
- Are you dog friendly?
- Well behaved dogs are always welcome at Dr Fox’s Tearoom. We ask that dogs are kept on a lead and are quiet!
- Are you Wheelchair accessible?
- Yes! There's a slight incline onto the Tearoom terrace and then level access via the right- hand doors. Our toilet facilities are also wheelchair accessible and suitable for less mobile guests.
- Is there parking nearby?
- Pay & Display parking is available on Knightstone Causeway and there are other car parks within a short walking distance from Dr Fox's Tearoom. Please check out North Somerset Council's website for up to date information on charges etc https://www.n-somerset.gov.uk/my-services/parking-travel-roads/parking-access/car-parks
- How do I let you know if I need a menu change?
- You can let us know any dietary information or specific sandwich filling requests on the booking form. Just put the information in the "request/occasion" box. If you miss this when you make your initial booking, you can go back and make changes using the "modify/cancel" link from your tableagent booking confirmation email. If all else fails, you can email us directly at [email protected] and we'll get back to you asap.
- What’s included in a child’s Afternoon Tea?
- Our children’s Afternoon Tea is available for those 12 years old and under. It includes everything in our standard Afternoon Tea except sandwiches as we find out younger guests are happy to pinch one or two finger sandwiches from the adults! If you are bringing more than one child you may wish to add an extra trio of finger sandwiches for an additional cost of £3.95. You can choose any filling but it will be the same for all 3 finger sandwiches. Let us know when booking please!

The scores speak for themselves; I always love coming here whenever there’s an occasion to celebrate. This time I’d booked afternoon tea at 3pm but was a bit shocked to find the doors shut & see a “closed” notice when we arrived. We nearly went away but were admitted after we tried the door (they stop serving at 3pm). Might I suggest the notice could say “closed -except for reservations” …

What a lovely time we had, thank you! It was my daughter's 60th birthday and the staff made a great effort to lay the table with banners and to include a candle in one of the cakes. The food was delicious and very fresh and the staff were charming. The building it is in is also fascinating.

such a lovely place! booked afternoon tea for 3 on a sunday afternoon for an early bday celebration. Our table was laid out really nicely with lovely unique china before we arrive so it was ready straight away, the staff were so attentive and very quick at refilling drinks/helping at all. It was honestly 10/10 for the tea room and staff alone but the scones, sandwiches + cakes were wonderful as well. Couldn’t recommend a tea room more :) plus they offered to bag up our uneaten cakes without us asking which was a thoughtful touch. will defo be back, thank you!

Amazing afternoon tea
We called with my parents to enjoy an amazing afternoon tea, we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome. The choice of drinks was great, the coffee was excellent and loose leaf tea was perfect. The selection of sandwiches was fabulous and we had more than enough, the scones are the best I’ve ever had and the cakes with lovely, light and delicious. The ambience of the tea room added to the whole experience. The disabled facilities were fantastic with easy access and great a toilet with lots of room. We had a wonderful time at Dr Foxes for my birthday cream tea. The food was excellent and I felt that we were consistently served and checked on - regardless of being short staffed that day! The staff did an amazing job regardless of this looking after ourselves and the outdoor customers (even those who chose to ignore the multiple, very clear signs asking to wait to be seated). Overall we had a lovely experience with gorgeous views - I do also have to mention they were wonderful changing out a few of the sandwiches for us to suit our taste! It was very appreciated and made us feel really welcome. Always worth stopping by here even for the standard menu available (I would 100% recommend the spring onion scones with Brie on top!)

Absolutely fantastic! I took my mum for afternoon tea for Mother’s Day and we couldn’t fault a single thing. Sandwiches were great and really appreciated the alternative filling you gave as we requested no salmon. Cake selection was lovely and everything tasted so fresh and light! It was a blustery day on the Causeway and we were seated near the doors (left open due to Covid) which would have been too chilly for my 91 year old father, however they kindly moved us to a cosy corner which was very comfortable.
Service was attentive but not intrusive, everything we needed was supplied on the table. A really lovely experience.

We used a gift voucher for Afternoon Tea. We were shown to our table already laid with traditional China. Good choice of teas, coffees or soft drinks. Our tea was brought on a traditional stand and all the food explained. Finger sandwiches with 4 different fillings, plain and fruit scones, jam, clotted cream, cup cakes and slices of Victoria sponge. All freshly made and homemade. Absolutely delicious. Great treat.

Wow !! What a wonderful tea room. The views are stunning, the décor is beautiful and the cakes, utterly delicious!! The staff were pleasant and friendly, and very helpful. Luckily, the talented baker Alison, had just freshly baked walnut, cinnamon and apple scones which were yummy!!

We had a lovely afternoon tea here, nice selection of sandwiches, mini scones so fresh with jam and cream, and a Chocolate cup cake and a slice of Victoria sponge also very fresh. Great service. Tea in a teapot. Portions very generous, go with an empty tummy!

We had a lovely afternoon tea, the food was delicious. Good and generous selection of sandwiches and cakes, I particularly liked the scones. We were lucky in that the weather was glorious and we sat outside overlooking the bay. The staff were pleasant and courteous. We will definitely be back.

Even in these difficult times of restrictions due to coronavirus we were made to feel welcome and we all felt very safe. We were two couples meeting together and they’d found us a big table So we could remain socially distance. All food was great the pie was exceptional!

Excellent service and rapport. The tea room had a one way system and the table service has been well thought out.
On booking I informed them it was my uncles first outing since lockdown and requested an outside table, the weather was a mixed so they also set a table up in the corner inside. They did not need to do this. Fortunately the weather was kind. The Guinness cake was superb. We could not have the mains we wanted as they had run out of most things but then again the staff adapted the dishes for my uncle. I have visited this tea room before lockdown and will definitely return. A great first outing for my uncle, well done Alyson and all the staff.

Had a weekend away in Weston with the girls, wanted to end the weekend with a lovely afternoon tea together and this afternoon tea did not disappoint. It was an absolute delight! A fussy trio.....Two of us are veggies, one doesn’t like fruit scones and one vegan. The staff could not have been more accommodating on dietary requirements...... the vegan afternoon tea was personalised and separate to the veggie ones, and still had the same amount of cakes and goodies as any normal afternoon tea! It was amazingly lovely from start to finish, will definitely be back and highly recommend. Prefect finish to a perfect weekend. :) xx
