The restaurant opened on June 9 and my wife and I visited on June 10. This is a brand new location, so we certainly expected a few rough spots. I will start with the positives. The ambiance is excellent -- beautiful building exterior and interior and perhaps the nicest outdoor dining area in South Bend. The food was quite good overall, but I hope that it will improve as the owners, cooks, wait staff get more acquainted with the facilities and the clientele. Cocktails were decent, but need work. My prickly pear mojito did not taste much like a mojito (no rum flavor at all) and had almost no fresh mint, but it was refreshing oh a hot evening. Salad was excellent, appetizer (Brussels Sprouts with bacon) very yummy, taco trío was good (though pork taco was very dry), and Pork pot roast was just OK. Service was really poor -- just completely disorganized and slow. We waited about 25 minutes for our drink and, despite asking many times, did not even see a dinner menu until 30 minutes after sitting down (the restaurant was not particularly busy). Salad, appetizers and one of the dinner plate came out all at once (while we were still enjoying our cocktails), second dinner came several minutes later. In general the wait staff seemed very inexperienced and confused. This is the main issue that will have to be sorted out in the near future or this restaurant, which clearly has amazing potential, will have a hard time succeeding in the South Bend market. Prices would be reasonable if the service were outstanding, but we left feeling a bit disappointed with what we got for $110. Will come back in several weeks to see how things are going. If problems continue for too long I don't think we will go often.
