We went for Sunday lunch and were the last sitting. We were served by Zak, who was very polite and had a bit of a laugh with us. We weren't rushed at all and the atmosphere was relaxed, the setting was stunning. The food was delicious and great portions. The cheesecake was divine and my dad loved his custard! Will definitely be returning. Great service, great food and perfect setting.

We had the most wonderful evening meal. Food was delicious, well cooked and presented. The staff were attentive and friendly. It was a good value meal. The only thing we all commented on was whether it would be possible to have some solar movement lights for when you cross over the river bridge.

Went here for dad's 88th birthday on our night. A lovely warm welcome and delicious food but lost a pint because the chips weren't cooked in bed dripping as advertised! Won't stop us going back! Easy to book on line and a unique setting.

We booked quite late on a Thursday evening but we're lucky to find a table available. It's a bit of an adventure finding the place, a long winding narrow lane and then crossing the canal and railway by foot. Thursday night is pie night. It was busy and our order was a while but not too bad. The food was excellent. My husband had a pie which was full of meatand I had the vegetarian lasagne. The boys had a superburger and a steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and they were happy to leave out all the bits with the burger that our other son didn't want. It was a great atmosphere. There is artwork on the walls that is for sale and I was tempted by a badger print. I can imagine it gets very busy in the Summer and evening booking is essential.

Absolutely amazing, Everything from the location, food , service, prices and of course the friendly and accommodating staff was amazing about the Black Lion ( plus their own ciders and warm pork scratching), would we go back? Absolutely definitely yes . It was our first visit but definitely not our last.
