Diane & Richard welcome you to The Royal Oak in the heart of the Peak District. We have been here since October 2018 working hard to give all our customers the very best experience. We are set in the white peaks area of the Peak District National Park where you can enjoy some of the most beautiful walks in the English countryside. We are just a cock stride from Thor’s cave and minutes away from Buxton, Bakewell, Hulme End, Ecton, Ilam, Alstonfield, Dove Dale, Matlock and for the more adventurous less than 30 minutes drive from Alton Towers… Our menus contains delicious real homemade dishes that have been specially prepared in our own kitchen for you to enjoy. Just perfect before, between or after a long walk. So if you are just visiting or staying in the area then pop in and you won’t be disappointed. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Beautiful setting with excellent food. The staff were incredibly friendly, and we felt very well looked after and valued. Given the current situation, we were still given excellent service and as such have told friends about it. We will be back!!
Loved our meal! enthusiastic helpful staff - i enjoyed the "special", great tasting lamb, but i would have loved more vegetables as i was hungry after walking.
Really good visit to the pub. Service a bit slow but understandable as it has been a while since it was open so pub having to find new ways of looking after the customer because of the pandemic. Can't wait to visit again as the food was good and staff friendly.
Little slow on the service, we had plenty of time so no issue but waited a long time to order
The area behind the pub needs to be tidied up.
We went on their first day of opening after lock down and I think this affected their organisation. We waited quite a long time for service and our food. However, all the staff were lovely and were clearly trying their best despite being over stretched. When the food arrived it was really good and we were lucky to be sat in the beer garden on a mild, sunny day which was great.
Staff were very friendly & helpful but were exceedingly busy at bank holiday weekend & we waited a while for our food. The sunshine gave way to a cold wind & rain ( not their fault!) so would like to have been a bit quicker! Food was tasty
