It was all perfect, very attentive, great food, good beer and wine, and a lucky left over portion of lemon and lime cheesecake ( wife asked for something lemony as nothing on menu, and they magically produced some)

Can not recommend enough, great atmosphere, owners and staff very friendly, food is excellent home cooked food, decent portion size and dog friendly. We live 100m away from the rushbrooke arms which is absolutely dire in comparison. The Manger is everything it is not. Manger gets 5 stars from us.

Took my Mum for Christmas Eve lunch. Unpretentious excellent all home-cooked food, and the desserts are sooo delicious. Lovely atmospheric timbered building, plenty of space and welcoming for everyone, including dogs. But on top of that they go above and beyond, I phoned the day before to see if they would have roast bird, they did it especially for us! Staff all very friendly and conscientious. It’s not fancy-gastro, no trimmings and plates a little cold, but it’s good honest grub, very good value and we had a lovely time. Definitely recommended. The cocker spaniel breaking free and tearing down the bar to find the kitchen was a highlight ;)

Six of us met up for lunch at The Manger yesterday and we had a superb time. The staff are friendly and efficient, the table we were allocated was perfect and all our meals were extremely well prepared, well presented and delicious. We needed lots of "chatting time" and we didn't feel pressurised at all. Thank you for a most enjoyable outing. We have made a booking to meet up again in December.

(Table 12) Unfortunately we had quite a wait for our food (approx 50 mins). Another table that came in after us, had their food served & we then had to chase ours. Our roast potatoes were hard (difficult to cut) & my husbands lamb was overdone, chewy and gristly. The veg was lovely and my nut roast was really tasty. The puddings were absolutely delicious.
