This was the first time I visited The Manger. A traditional country village pub. Good selection of drinks. Staff were very friendly. Some of my friends were late yet we were not pressured to sit at our table. Menu was simple and there were enough choices. The food was all home made and was excellent. As Arnie say, I’ll be back!

This historic building has fed, watered and sheltered people for hundreds of years. Tradition runs deep in this place which brings a warm welcome, excellent menu choices, well kept beer, a selection of delicious cocktails, and exquisite home cooked food. We visited on a cold, wet evening; what a treat to step into the cosy, warm bar, which soon filled up with regulars and fellow diners. We will come back for seconds and thirds!!!

It was our first visit to the Manger and thought the food people definitely deserved 5 stars. ⭐️
We particularly liked when the lady took our plates away said that there was no rush to leave after we had eaten our food and we could keep the table for as long as we liked which made a very pleasant change.
If we are in the area again we wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Xx

We've always fancied popping in here as it looks so cosy whenever we drive past. We were really happy with our experience. One of us had some food allergies and it was dealt with brilliantly. Nothing was too much trouble. Very prompt and friendly service despite the pub and restaurant being full. The food was good, old-fashioned pub fare and we really enjoyed it. We'll definitely come back.

Took my Mum for Christmas Eve lunch. Unpretentious excellent all home-cooked food, and the desserts are sooo delicious. Lovely atmospheric timbered building, plenty of space and welcoming for everyone, including dogs. But on top of that they go above and beyond, I phoned the day before to see if they would have roast bird, they did it especially for us! Staff all very friendly and conscientious. It’s not fancy-gastro, no trimmings and plates a little cold, but it’s good honest grub, very good value and we had a lovely time. Definitely recommended. The cocker spaniel breaking free and tearing down the bar to find the kitchen was a highlight ;)

Six of us met up for lunch at The Manger yesterday and we had a superb time. The staff are friendly and efficient, the table we were allocated was perfect and all our meals were extremely well prepared, well presented and delicious. We always enjoy a lovely meal at The Manger but we were disappointed this time to be charged £1.50 for extra gravy as one of our roast dinners was quite dry so we asked for a little extra. We received a whole gravy boat which was unnecessary and if the lady had waited to find out rather than rushing off we could have shown her the dinner and explained that we only needed a small amount. If we were going to be charged I think it would have been nice to have been told not just had it added to our bill.

The food was excellent. The ambience great. We had been promising ourselves a visit for a long time. There was a bit of a wait between courses but that didn't spoil the day. We will certainly return, it has quality food and friendly staff. Well done

I felt the portions were a little small and the pub was not as warm as it could have been. Also, my colleague ordered steak and kidney pie and Wherry beer; both were not available and had to order substitutes. But overall a pleasant enough lunch.

We love our visits to the Manger.
The food is always outstanding and the staff are always very helpful.
We noticed on our recent visit that there were new members of staff who were all lovely and the service had definitely improved.

The Manger is a very well run pub, visited for Sunday lunch, very busy so had to wait about 40 minutes for food to arrive but the roast beef and pork was well worth the wait.
