I got a confirmation email saying that our table had been booked for Friday night. We walked down to the restaurant for dinner after looking forward to it all day, and the restaurant was closed - despite being listed as open on Google AND being able to book a table through this website.
INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING! Everywhere else in Newport was booked out as it was late notice, so we ended up having to just walk home. Beyond annoying.

They were not open again ! We love this little restaurant but if you can't book you can,t enjoy. We tried calling , leaving messages and in the end went to another Japanese restaurant just up from Umami. come on Ray lift your game

I had been to Umami early in 2020 and I thought the food has greatly improved and become more authentic Japanese- my daughter was impressed and knew what to order! we enjoyed the meal very much!
when my son visits from Canberra I will try to come again.
