I brought my dad here for his birthday. We both really enjoyed the experience - the chef was great and the food was delicious. It wasn't *a lot* of food, but we left feeling satiated. My only suggestion would be to improve the ambiance with better lighting and to play better music - the mainstream Christmas music just didn't fit with the experience, perhaps traditional Japanese music would have been more appropriate. I would definitely recommend coming here to try omakase for a reasonable price (my bill came to just over $200 with tip one tea and one soda).

Omakase at Kaito was a lovely intimate experience. I felt safe according to COVID protocols. The food was made and delivered to us with care. Delicious and complex. I'm looking forward to going again.

Because it is omakase service, I would train the server to be more proactive rather than reactive so chef can only interact with customers during the omakase time

This was a steal. They should charge double. The food was as good or better as other "fancier" places and a fraction of the cost. We stayed behind after our seating session and got another round.

The chef was very nice and courteous. It was little sweet for me for some reason. I think I am spoiled as I had omakase in Japan. Overall, it was a really good experience for all of us. I really loved the plug-in pot (hot sake, not sure what it's called) version! Soooo fancy. I really liked ponzu soy sauce with scallions. I would defintely go back when the covid numbers are lower

If the menu can add dessert(tamago, cake or ice cream) it would be perfect. I would love to eat uni sushi~~ Also, I expected dining time to be a bit longer, felt a little rushed even tho we were late 20 mins. The fish was fresh and it went really well with the rice. The sushi omakase price was reasonable compared to a lot of omakases out there. Will definitely go back! Chef can try to interact with customers more!

Overall, the experience was good, though I would counsel eaters to stick with the prix fixe menu and avoid add-ons. The sushi itself was amazing and it was a unique experience. The sushi was fantastic, with one exception: the Uni (sea urchin) was served improperly, which ruined it. To wit: it was served straight out of the icebox at almost freezing temperature, so it tasted like I was eating an ice cube. At $18 a piece I would expect it to be served properly. I remarked on the extreme coldness of the fish to the chef and how it made it hard to taste, he told me that the uni spoils quickly which is why it's stored so cold. I didn't wish to press the issue with a guest present, but it would have been appropriate for the chef to correct his mistake and offer a second portion after letting it warm enough to taste, or to remove that item from our bill. The ambiance left something to be desired, it's my opinion that the restaurant could stand to invest a bit in interior decoration as well as cleaning and maintenance. The washrooms needed a once over, and there was a fire alarm with a low battery which chirped every thirty seconds throughout the entire meal. I informed bot the hostess & the chef multiple times about the chirping fire alarm, and they thanked me kindly for informing them, but did not seem to understand that I was asking them to go fix it. In short, they're very good at making sushi here (with one exception), little attention is payed to aught else. I'd go again, but this time I'll avoid the add-ons and come prepared with some AAA batteries so I can dine in peace.

Food was flavourful although there was sand in my scallop sushi...I thought there was 12 pieces of sushi but I can only counted 11 including the appetizer (My count can be wrong though). $18 for a small piece of uni sushi is also a bit too pricy.

chef has nice techniques and the way the food is prepared is very innovating, but the affordable price also means some of the fish are not the highest grades. also since we are the only two dinning at the time, the close proximity to the chef felt a little bit rushed. however, great bang for your buck if you have never had omakasi before
