Frequently Asked Questions- Why can't I reserve a booking for more than 6 people at a time online?
- For bookings over 6 people we ask that you make a reservation for 6 people and then follow up with an email to [email protected]. The number of guests we can have in one service is limited to 60 people with a waitlist, in order to accommodate bookings over 6 guests our staff needs to reserve tables that could otherwise be given to other guests.
- Is there a kids menu?
- Unfortunately, there is no kids menu. Our menu changes daily, with the seasons and as crops become available. Our menu is fine dining farm-to-table most suitable for romantic dinners, celebrations and date nights, however kids are welcome.
- When I try to make a reservation it tells me to call the Sunflower Cafe number, why?
- When the dining room is fully booked and we can no longer take reservations, you are prompted to call. However, if this message shows up, we are likely too busy with customers to answer so please email us or text us if it is urgent and we will do our best to get back to you within 24 hours. If you are trying to book a last minute reservation, we are fully booked and will not be able to accommodate anymore reservations for that service. We apologize for the inconvenience.
- Can I book a Gazebo with my reservation?
- The short answer is no. You can request one but we do not reserve them for guests. We only have 5 Gazebos and a dining capacity of 55 with 15 tables total. Most guests do request Gazebos but to maximize our seating capacity we must give those reservations with 6 guests first priority for Gazebos as they are meant for 5 - 7 guests, 7 being the maximum. We apologize if you request a Gazebo and we can not provide one. We do try our best and hope you will still enjoy your experience with us!

We had a perfect evening! Our server/bartender, was very knowledgeable in communicating the ingredients in each dish. Each uniquely flavorful with produce from farm to table. I really appreciated his wine knowledge and where/how the vineyards barreled each bottle. He even provided the family history. The off sales of the bottles of wine we had tasted in the pairings was a nice added touch too. All in all it was a 10/10 experience. Thank you!

My dinner of pasta,as well as my daughter’s dinner was not warm. That was also true on another occasion we attended where one meal was cold. It’s one thing to sit ina cold restaurant but cold food is not acceptable.

Amazing food, we experienced such clean, fresh and subtle flavours. Yes, we went out for supper at the sunflower Flower café and I tell you we had the best service the best food. We had a five course dinner. It was fabulous when it came to the desert we had to take it home we were so full. we definitely will be going again, and again, Love it

Very little constructive criticism, we had a great night. Of all the courses, the duck didn't hit quite as high (though 2/3 still completely finished the plate - I think it was cooked well, just personal preference on the dish). Otherwise, the dining area was a little cold by the end of the evening, though I know there are plans to improve the heating.

A wonderful experience but definitely on the pricey end of the scale when the tasting menu is ordered. At first, I thought we were paying for the full bill for 4 of us, but quickly realized that was the bill split in half.

It's a fantastic place.... it was a hot summer day, in the midst of a farm... and the food is so yummy. You can't ask for a better experience.
The only thing that I found a little curious... is the reservation was for happy hour (@3:15)... and really from the moment we go there we kept hearing..." kitchen is closing soon, please order now... and we will have to move you to the couches soon because we have to set for dinner". Honestly, our server said the last statement at least three times.... so we were cognisant of that throughout the whole time we were eating. So my suggestion to Sunflower is....maybe 315 is TOO late for a reservation because it backs up right against the dinner time?. We honestly could not totally relax because we felt that we needed to eat and drink fast. So while the overall experience was so sweet and lovely based on where the Sunflower Cafe is situated... we felt totally rushed. - Emily Renoe

Overall we had a good experience ambience was great service was great and very friendly. Our suggestions are that the appetizers weren't varied enough so that if you wanted to have a variety of appetizers and no main there were no meat options for shareable plates. The evening we were there there were no fish options left so it was either pork, beef tenderloin or gnocchi. The beef was excellent however the pork was overcooked too chewy and nothing special. The pomme puree was oversalted. Our other take was that if you were only having mains and no appetizers then the mains do not showcase the vegetables from the garden. There were only a few swiss chard leaves on the potatoes which were a very large serving. Less potato more vegetables. We were a family of 5 and our bill came to $630. Drinks for $16 were good but too many ice cubes not enough drink. Harvey wallbanger tasted a bit too much like orange juice. But overall a good experience and we loved the setting! thx

Outstanding!
Halibut was superb, the beef disappeared quickly and the gnocchi that I stole from another plate gave Italian pasta a solid competition.
(I was in Italy the month of May to attend a cooking school).

Minor observation for service - we were sitting in one of the charming gazebos, as DD I was drinking water. Our table only received one refill, while I watched the tables on the patio be refilled at least 3 times. I ended up drinking my husbands glass too.

Every bite was a delight! We’d been looking forward to trying out the cafe for awhile now, and were not disappointed. My husband took me there for my birthday. The servers are very attentive and personable. The food was delicious. We would have probably lingered longer, but the sun was right in my husband’s eyes so that wasn’t too pleasant. Also, would be nice if the bread was something that came complimentary. I wouldn’t mind even if the dinners were priced a bit higher just so you get something tasty brought to your table complimentary. Anyways, you know going into it the bill will be expensive, but it’s a wonderful experience and everything we had was excellent, so flavourful. And you feel really good about supporting local, true food made with excellence and care. Looking forward to coming back :)

We absolutely love the Sunflower Cafe! It is our favourite date night spot and the only place we have found a true farm to table experience in the fraser valley. The food is outstanding, the service is always lovely. We can’t wait for another date night this month!

This is our favourite place to go when treating ourselves in dining out. Yes, it is a bit pricier than many restaurants but we understand that…the costs are higher for the extremely high quality pure food. We really so enjoy it here! We rave to everyone about how they need to come here and eat and taste…the way food is supposed to taste! Thank you for such a special dining experience each time!

Simply outstanding. Our first time last week and we are going next week. How this place is a success in the middle of the forest that is Whonnock, eastern Maple Ridge is beyond me. We live about a three minute drive from the Sunflower and we plan to go often between now and the end of season.

My reservation was cancelled by the restaurant as they were not open on the 24th! I then scrambled to find another booking two weeks before Christmas, for the 24th. I just received an email, not even a telephone call with an apology, so I was not very impressed. I have been there for brunch previously and was very impressed with the food

This was our first time eating at Sunflower Cafe and although it wasn’t at the farm we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful romantic dinner. Every bite of every dish was absolute perfection, and the chef/staff were out of this world incredible. We’ve since recommended many friends and family and we will definitely be returning!

I hate to give away our little neighbourhood secret with such high ratings but this place is fantastic. Delicious food that we savoured all the more because we were looking out at the field in which most of the ingredients grew. Warm hospitality. We love coming here and it's been a 10 every time.
Remember to dress for the weather. You are eating under cover but outside!

We loved our first visit to this magical, beautiful restaurant and farm. The food, oh the food, was divine, perfectly presented and each morsel a pleasure on the palate. Underlying each bite was the understanding that what we were enjoying was grown, harvested and prepared at the farm that we were visiting. The collection of outdoor gazebos are charming and accomodate up to seven people. The pathways to the gazebos are lined with beautiful flowers. Needless to say the ambiance is charming and provides an added elegant dimension to the dining experience.
We will be back many, many times as there are not many restaurants with the calibre of this one in the Fraser Valley.
Our only suggestion would be to provide pillows for diners in the gazebos. It is uncomfortable to sit on hard wooden benches while enjoying such a delightful dining experience.
