When I asked for a glass of wine they gave me a sample cup and filled it up. Understand if this is what is typical but should have let me know as it was quite expensive for like an inch and a half of wine in a small sample cup. Ambiance was beautiful .

The food truck had a 40 minute wait (which is half of the allocated time slot for a table reservation) & we had to resort to eating crackers and cheese for lunch. Perhaps The Winery could consider having more than one food truck available . Another option would be partnering with food truck vendors to take orders in advance so they are better prepared to service the winery's customers.

This visit took place during the COVID-19 pandemic. I do not think food was available for purchase. We did not have the level of service we have come to expect at the Winery at Bull Run due to restrictions and distancing because of the virus. We were disappointed with the restrictions, but understand the need for precautions. Hopefully we can visit again once these restrictions are lifted.

This past time the seating in the tent was not as nice and not as warm as the previous time when were in the patio area not far from the singer. I was chilled most of the time, so I did not enjoy it as much. On the bright side with the breeze blowing through the tent, there was plenty of fresh air. We were at table 78. The water was turned off in the bathrooms in the barn, that was inconvenient. I thought that was the bathroom for all the patrons were suppose to use, so not my best visit.

I was disappointed that my reservation to sit under heat lamps but they weren’t ready so we sat in the “barrel” room but there was no ambience it just felt like a basement with school room fold up tables. There was no service and no real staff interaction to see how things were going

We were so happy to bring our own picnic, look out at the gorgeous view, and safely sit far from others at a picnic table with easy opening umbrella and sip wine from our own glasses. Lovely setting!

Loved the whole experience at TWABR! We liked all their wines, except for one, which is pretty good for this area. The staff were friendly and down-to-earth. No snooty wine people here! The place is beautiful and relaxing, even with pandemic precautions in place. It was very busy the day we went, but you couldn't tell because they had so much space to spread groups out.

Great first experience sitting in the Production Barn. Great service, music and wine made for a wonderful afternoon. Sad to say, the food truck was very slow and he admitted he had not checked our online orders. It was over an hour, but delicious when received. Looking forward to the next visit!

We were randomly assigned a table under a tent, and when we requested to be moved to a table outside of the tent we were rudely told “no” by the ladies working at the checkin. It should be noted there were ~24 empty tables in our section, and many stayed empty throughout our stay. We could have been easily swapped.

The food truck never showed up. We asked 4 different employees what was going on, the 4th one finally said “I have to admit, it has broken down. They are doing all they can to get another one here. I know these things happen but honesty in a timely manner would’ve been appreciated. I had no problem running out and getting some food for my family, I just wish I had know sooner so I could’ve acted on that ASAP. Also, the website does not state that I could’ve requested to be seated under a tent, my 94 year old grandmother was with us and she would’ve been much more comfortable under some shade.

The family friendly heated patio cost $20 to reserve but essentially provided no heat since it was in such an open area with a single heater for the table. The staff made accommodations for us to move inside when we asked if there was space, of course this cost an extra $10 to do. The adult only heated patio and tent space was much nicer by comparison as there was protection from the wind and more enclosed to maintain heat, so it was frustrating knowing how much more comfortable we would have been in there. Would recommend just paying $10 for a non heated picnic table and bring plenty of blankets to keep warm since you'll need them anyway on the "heated" patio. Also, the food truck seemed understaffed as just one person was working it, which resulted in him seeming stressed and having too much to do/long food waits.

Lovely, socially distanced way to get outside. Tables were well spaced, Observed staff cleaning regularly, precautions for ordering were in place. Food from a food truck (Not sure if they have one every day) so check the Schedule before you go or bring your own picnic, only a couple Of snack items available from the bar.

I was very disappointed to find out that we could not bring water in. We were forced to buy overpriced water beverages. They did not tell us ahead of time or mention this on the website. We only found out when we drove up and the man gave us a paper. The security guard checking my bag made me open up the bottle in my bad to prove to him it was empty. I did not appreciate that. If I knew I would have to leave my drinks in the car and have my bags checked and water bottles examined I would not have chosen this place. Please let your customers know ahead of time. That way they can make the decision to come or not.

We love coming to this winery. We enjoy ourselves every time. With new social distancing rules, the experience is different, but still a great place to enjoy wine and the outdoors. The only thing to improve is the food. The food truck on Saturday 6/27/20 was not that great. We’ve had better food trucks at your venue in the past. We were disappointed with the food and price. We still enjoyed sitting in the family picnic area. I think next time will bring a picnic lunch. Looking forward to coming back soon this summer .

Very nice Friday night at the Winery. We took our own picnic and reserved a picnic table in the lawn. There was live music. I would suggest that you bring a table cloth and also some other cups/glasses. The small plastic cups that they give you for your wine are not good.

I had an amazing experience from beginning to end. It was my birthday celebration, so I was a little concerned about tables arrangement and weather. Amanda, Jennifer, and Emily ( always answering the phone so friendly) made sure my guests were very well accommodated, although it did not rain :) . Also, the whole experience during the event was great, from the reception to the way we were treated by the ladies working at the improvised bar under the tent. In addition, everyone did an amazing job in regarding keeping all safe with social distancing measures. We honestly couldn’t have had a better experience anywhere else, and I thank all of you very much!!! I love this place and I will make sure everyone knows how amazing this winery is!!! :)

My wife and I are regulars at Bull Run Winery and normally we’d rate the experience close to a 10. However, this time we lost more than 30 mins of a 2 hour time slot just walking through the parking area (which was very Dar), waiting in line, and getting situated. We suggest specialty parking for Generals Club members and maybe a separate line as well. Other than this, all went well.

We ran into trouble because we had to go back and forth to the front check-in a couple times because with each table we were given to sit down at, there was already someone there. The front check-in didn’t seem to have an answer why or were helpful. Eventually we did get a table, but it was clear people were switching tables on the fly or the front wasn’t keeping track.

I normally love Bull Run, but this was not a good experience. It's phase one so things are naturally upside down. However, they still made me not feel very welcome, even as a member. They asked us to use an order form and hold it up to the plexiglass. I did that, and the girl didnt get the order right at all. She also didnt ask for my member name so I had to pay full price, even after I gave her my $10 voucher (for the reservation fee), which she did not deduct. It was bizarre. And the order form (specific for phase one) offered a tasting poured at the table, or a tasting with 3 - 4 oz bottles. I ordered both, neither one happened. Instead, they gave 1 oz pours in plastic cups, in plastic trays. Unfortunately, the wind knocked mine over. It was the worst deal I've seen. Even the limited food was different, like I orderd the proscuitto and mozzerella cheese, and all I got was the proscuitto. The only reason to go to Bull Run right now is for the incredible property. Avoid the staff and ordering anything there as much as possible for the time being.

FYI if you book the family friendly heated patio online, they give you the option of reserving for up to 6. When we got there, the host let us know that the max # of people is 4 not 6. Wine was great!Loved the Viognier and Cab France. The food vendor had a very long line so we didn't get to eat until two hours in.

The reservation system appears to not work as designed. My reservation for the deck had zero open tables so I seated in open seating. This reservation system could use some work. Otherwise my visit was enjoyable.

As soon as we arrived and were directed into the overflow lot, my discomfort skyrocketed. There are TOO MANY PEOPLE being allowed on your premises! I assume the driving factor is your goal to bring in as much money as possible -- all at the expense of your customers' health. Just because your dozens of tables are 6 feet apart doesn't mean it's safe. You are encouraging groups of friends to sit together at your tables; those groups are not related families. We almost left but decided to go get our reservation filled because we drove more than 40 minutes to get there. Your check in progress was chaotic and two things became very clear. First, your reservation process online is a joke. Very poor descriptions about where seating areas are actually located. Second, making a reservation doesn't actually reserve a specific table anywhere. We were very unhappy with the "barn patio" as our backyard at home has better ambiance. One of the staff told me it was a cool thing to sit there and have music piped through the speakers to jam to and I almost laughed because the music was horrible. Thankfully she didn't care if we just moved to another area, because again the reservations are basically meaningless. So we found a much more scenic and secluded spot where we could enjoy our plastic cup wine more safely. You need to seriously rethink your strategy of letting hundreds of people in all in the name of profit. You should check out Potomac Point Winery. They are doing a fabulous job and it's crazy but when you make a reservation you actually have a table, a clear map of where you'll be, and their food is fabulous along with the wine. I don't think we'll be returning to Bull Run any time soon. Too many people. Your wine is ok but not enough to surpass the overall experience you're currently presenting. Do better.

I had an incredible day. I felt as though all the safety protocols were taken really seriously. The views, atmosphere, and wines were fantastic. My only feedback is that my friend and I did the tasting flight and then we were interested in buying a bottle of something that was not part of the tasting. We asked the person at the counter if we could have a taste of the wine we wanted to buy and she said no because she would have to open a new bottle which didn’t make sense to me because that wine is sold by the glass but I didn’t want to argue so I just bought a bottle of wine we had already tried. Other than that it was a fantastic day and I plan to return again.

Paying for water seemed a bit much, but the cheese we purchased (Champagne Cheddar) was delicious. My siblings did not buy wine on this occasion, because I recently diagnosed stage 4 pancreatic cancer and not drinking wine just now; they abstained in honor of me BUT in future we all will gladly try your wine.

Hello, It was a lovely visit. Our only complaint is the fact that more desirable tables sat empty the entire time we were there. We were on the courtyard in the sun and and asked to move under a fan, undercover. We were told people will show up. 3 tables sat empty under cover our entire visit, even after we strolled the property and looked at the vineyards for another hour. No one showed up. When we went to the wine bar, it was clear that many who made reservations did not show up for their picnic tables with a view, as well. Needless to say, we would have very happily moved back to our assigned table had the other guests shown up. I understand your booking process and the desire to accommodate folks with reservations. Might I suggest that you also remain flexible depending on attendance and weather.

My friends and I had a great time! I appreciate all the work the winery did to practice social distancing, and I actually liked that it wasn't TOO crowded. It was a great experience and I will definitely be back!

While we appreciate that the table fees were reduced, we were still not entirely happy that there was a fee to sit at a table and drink their wine which we had also paid for. Grateful for a place to enjoy being outdoors and enjoy the company of others.

Having to pay for a 2 hour reservation, which didn't include a glass of wine, that starts at 5 and is supposed to end at 7pm but then you're told you have to be off the property by 7pm is very disappointing. Not to mention them closing the bar for glasses of wine and food truck running out of food before 6pm. Not the best first impression.

Just too hot to sit on General's Deck; sun shades do little and umbrellas kept swinging in the wind. Should be a service person coming around to clean up and offer fresh ice for the bucket. Best to put up a permanent roof/sunsetter. Bring back the tastings for members, and not in tiny plastic cups. Did not eat from food truck so no review.

There could have been a bit more signage to communicate what to do and when, but wow - the staff went above and beyond to make this happen safely. The $20 reservation fee seemed high given that we're members and that it didn't become a credit to your food/beverages there. But we could see the amount of work done to make it happen and it helped us understand. Ally helped us solve a problem with another table, and graciously re-sat us and was simply the definition of perfect customer service. Thank you Ally! Thanks to Bull Run - we love you guys.

You should not be charging a reservation fee when no reservation is required in the first place. Thankfully I am a member and the reservation fee was refunded to me, but the way it was refunded in the form of money I still had to spend at the winery is a cheap way of running a place. Love the property. Hate how cheap the owner is. The wine is average, and over priced, The staff is well mannered, and aside from its location are the only 2 things saving this place.

The heaters in the open tent did not keep us warm. The $20 was a waste to reserve the picnic table! I had to wait 25 minutes for food from the food truck! Time away from the birthday party. The musician could not be heard. Save your money on entertainment so you can offer lower prices on the food. Ten dollars for gluten free crackers!!! Not an enjoyable time!

I think that the staff wasn't really attentive. You are giving 2 hour time blocks but lines to get wine were super long. You charge $10 for the reservation of the table but aren't really providing service. Been to 4 other wineries who have better protocol and more organized and none of them charge a reservation fee that doesn't get used as a credit for wine. I was okay with the reservatiom fee but thought things would be more organized and you wouldn't spend over 25 minutes in line for wine whenever you only have a 2 hour block. Also, noticed, staff not cleaning tables before they sat the next guest :(

Thank you for providing a beautiful outlet/get-a-way/experience during these times. I realize some of the limitations were in place to create a safe environment for all. I missed the baguette, but the meats/cheeses were very good quality. I like the reservation and we were give a fantastic location, the lower level of the covered patio looking out at the vineyards. I happen to be a brain injury survivor so I would have had difficulty if placed on the upper part with the series of tables. For future I do not know if there is a way to request the lower part, as I think it is the only area that would work for me. Sound is an issue as I cannot tune out any sound and I perceive it at a much higher volume that others and where I was...was excellent as the upper portion the music was way too loud for me. So this worked great... not sure if the tables will always have the same number assignment, would be good to know. I was not thrilled to have to pay for a table, but getting that location was worth it for now. I would have rather put it into more wine and food, but I get it and there is extra cleaning that needs to happen...so know it is appreciated. Getting there early was good for me as the parking was full when I left. Thank you so much for your thoughtful care in opening up. I look forward to returning soon. It was so good for my soul to be out in the country looking at nature. I am so grateful. Thank you!

There was no service to speak of even though we paid $20 per table for our group of 8 (2 tables). We reserved at the family "heated" patio space. But no one helped with the heaters or setting up the tables. We had to drag the heavy heaters ourselves and turn them on ourselves. Also, you can't get wine glasses unless you buy the glasses for $4 each. We weren't interested in buying the glasses so we had to use plastic cups that were flying away because of the wind. This is unfortunate because in previous visits, the experience was decent.

This facility needs to get recycling bins in place ASAP. There is a tremendous amount of plastic(bottles and cups)being discarded daily. It's quite traumatic to see this. I hope the winery can address this issue by being environmentally conscious and recycle their plastics, cans and bottles.

I wish that the $10 reservation fee had been used as a credit towards a purchase. Didn’t love having to pay to book. I can understand having the fee as a deposit and certainly keeping it for those that don’t show, but for those that do, a credit would have been kind. I was also disappointed by the no water rule. It is 100 degrees outside and you’re charging $2 for a bottle of water that I could purchase the entire 24 package for the same price. That’s ridiculous! I understand not wanting customers to bring in outside liquors and things filled in water bottles. I wish an unopened store bought bottle of water could have been considered. It is way too hot to not have patrons drinking water and the price of your water is far too high! Or, please consider complimentary water.

Overall experience was great! We had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary there. People were kind and helpful, wine was great, food was great, ambiance was great. The only thing to be improved is a source of water. When we entered, we were told to empty our water bottles and could refill them when we entered. But once we got in, the only place to refill them was the bathroom, which had very low water pressure and took too long. Small thing, though. We'll be coming back!
