it is a great venue - open and airy. The food choice is good and I was very pleased that I could choose a small portion of the macaroni cheese. It was tasty and the chips and salad that came with it were good - it would have been better if the food had been hotter temperature wise. The staff were helpful and cheerful. I would recommend a visit and will definitely be going back.

The Mains of Drum is a lovely place and the restaurant is roomy. The food was very good, however, the service is terrible! We booked before we came and were shown to our table and given the menu. Then we went and joined the 'long' queue to order our food! It took us 30 mins from joining the queue to reaching the till to pay and we only had the table for an hour an half. The food did arrive quickly after we got back to our table and was delicious. We went and had a look round the shop and garden centre then came back an hour later for a coffee, had to book a table again, and had the same 'long' wait in the queue to get a cup of coffee! We, therefore, felt that the service is very poor, none of the staff seemed in a hurry and it did spoil the experience a great deal. Unfortunately we would not be in a hurry to come back.

I was with my Nephew and his partner from Dornoch where the Mains of Drum is our favourite garden centre to visit. We can always be sure of a warm welcome from the friendly staff and plenty of variety in the menu, It's also a good place to shop if your looking for that special gift for someone. I make appoint of making regular visits during the year and I can't see next year being any different.

The queue for the teas and coffees was very slow due to the volume of customers. It would have been very helpful and convenient if the second till point where coffee can be served from was opened. I would have liked another cup of coffee but was not prepared to wait another 15 minutes to be served.
All of the staff where very pleasant and cheerful. It’s the system that needs improving.

Unfortunately one of the waitresses was extremely rude and needs training on how to approach customers. This rudeness occurred at the end of our time slot. She insisted that we had 10 minutes to finish our beverages. The restaurant manager was sent over to smooth the matter over which she did very well.

Lovely as always but they really need to speed up the coffee making it’s so slow and causes a long line waiting to be served. Don’t know if it the machine or if it the way they staff the machine and cash desk. There seems to be plenty staff so maybe just need to change the way they are used.

As I live on Deeside, the Mains of Drum is a convenient place to meet with friends from Aberdeen. The restaurant is roomy and airy, the tables well spaced. The cakes, scones and traybakes are nice. However, the service is poor. I have only ever seen one hot drink station open. This can mean waiting in the queue for 10 minutes or more during busy times, especially when only one member of staff is making specialist coffees.

We enjoyed our meal very much and even although we were half an hour late in arriving due to a puncture we were made welcome.
Coffee was lovely as were the scones and the Cullen skink delicious. The macaroni was slightly tasteless apparently - maybe requires a different cheese.

We visited the restaurant last Saturday 19th July. As always food (Cullen Skink) was amazing. We then ordered two desserts and waited at our table for almost 15 mins. My husband went up to enquire and was told they would be brought. It was another 5 mins before they came. They are pre prepared desserts so shouldn’t take that time. Disappointing end to a nice meal .

We really enjoy coming to Mains of Drum. This time however my husband ordered a sweet and then was brought out the wrong one, then told there was none left of what he had ordered - it felt a bit muddled and he waited ages to order it. Also my brother loved the roast beef but he often finds the vegetables are way to hard to eat. We love veggies. Please soften them up so they are not wasted. We pay for all the food not just the meat. The soups and scone were lovely.

One of my favourite places to meet friends. Staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. Perhaps a wee variation on the panini/sandwich fillings??? Coronation chicken maybe?? You used to do a lovely roast beef and red onion chutney filling. Maybe a pasta salad sometimes? Whatever you do i know it will be lovely. Thank you for all your hard work.

On-line booking worked a treat.
On our arrival a member of staff greeted us courteously and showed us to our table. Ordering of food was easy and it was certainly delivered in a timely manner. Everything which was cooked was piping hot and the sandwiches had a good filling in them. No complaints and we will take lunch here again in the future.
The restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere was unobtrusive. You cannot hear other diners conversations and they presumably cannot hear yours. Soft furnishings look good but also baffle noise and in this instance they certainly did what they were designed to do.

Reserving (and changing numbers) extremely easy on Table Agent and the Mains of Drum never disappoints with consistently good service and food. I like that we can reserve a table here, unlike the other garden centre in Banchory, as it means our aged parents can go straight to table. Drum gets 10/10 every visit from us.

Sadly The food service was extremely slow. Initially we were served quickly and shown to our table, the meet and greet was friendly and we didn’t queue for very long.
It then took just under half an hour to queue to order the food! The lady who was taking the orders kept wandering off to give soup to customers! why she didn’t continue taking orders and allowing other waitresses to deliver food, I don’t know.
Our booking was 1pm and we finally received our food at 1.35pm.
We were going to have a tea/coffee after our lunch but it would have meant queueing again. And by this time the queue was even longer than when we had joined it.

I was meeting 2 of my friends for coffee as we had not been to Drum for ages. We had lovely scones and coffee/tea. Very busy but got a nice table by a window. The staff are always polite and friendly. Really enjoyed our get-together.

I have given full marks from everything . I bought my family & all three generations thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas lunch . We were greeted in a courteous manner & were actually very early for our booking but not a problem at all . All the tables were spaced out & we were the only ones at the self service counter . Food was lovely thank you . I am so sorry that Covid is preventing you fill your dining area with happy & satisfied customers as we did miss the buzz of business . Happy Christmas to you all .
