I would give more than 10/10 if it was possible! The service is first-rate, the food delicious, and we were so comfortable there we didn’t even realise we were the last people left in the restaurant. We felt bad at keeping them but the staff couldn’t have been lovelier. We’ve been here a few times over the past 25 years and had the same fabulous experience each time. What an amazing place. We’re so lucky to have it here in Brisbane!

The truly wonderful thing about The Continental Cafe is that it maintains its magic even after decades of welcoming people to meals every day of the week. When we arrived we had to wait for some time before the waitress came with the menu. Perhaps there was not enough staff there on our day. I chose coq au vin for lunch. The sauce was watery and fairly tasteless. The mushrooms and bacon seemed to have been fried separately and added afterwards. I was disappointed in this dish. The sauce should have had a more velvet-like consistency, with an aroma of Burgundy wine, with chicken stock and baby onions. The Affoggato coffee was excellent. My companion's sticky date pudding disappointed her, the cake being too fluffy (she prefers it more solid). The dish also caused the spoon handle to catch the sauce, making it sticky and difficult to use.

I've been coming to the Continental Café for years and they have never disappointed me, I've always had a wonderful experience and some of the best food I'll ever get anywhere. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, the staff are helpful and polite, the prices are more than reasonable (and worth it considering the generous portion sizes) and the food is always high quality and cooked perfectly. Amazing food. I don't understand why there weren't lines around the block when we went (albeit on a Monday at lunch). I understand it has been around a while - but instead of chasing the latest "hot table" this is the place to be. Excellent and consistently good food in a lovely area of New Farm. I had the seafood risotto which is the best I've ever had. Definitely a must visit every time I come back to Brisbane.

The Continental Cafe is an old favourite of many years, with consistently good quality food including modern dishes while retaining some of the old classics; it's 'european bistro' style and decor is comfortable and welcoming and the service efficient and friendly.
