A lovely relaxed atmosphere and prompt friendly service. The food was delicious too!
Didn’t enjoy the food at all. The menu sounded amazing, sadly the food wasn’t enjoyable at all. I didn’t finish my burger, it smelled terrible and tasted worse.
Great food and service, great independent place, cakes too good !!!
Great food, lovely venue and friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more. Thank you!
Brilliant food & Brilliant service
First class as always
Amazing food and service. Staff really friendly and felt really safe too.
Well worth the visit
Our favourite place to go in thornbury, the staff are lovely the food is fantastic and always have a beautiful pint on tap, topped off this time with some live music outside in the sun, what more could you want
Our visit was the first for many months, we received a warm and friendly welcome, good food and great service. We felt absolutely safe with the COVID precautions taken by the owners.
We really enjoyed our evening at Hawkes House last night, our first family get together for months due to lockdown! The staff were all very friendly and the food was very good! Thank you!
Limited menu due to restrictions. Staff were excellent. Very clean and staff aware of procedures. All staff wore masks throughout. Very quiet, which meant there was plenty of space.
Tastiest falafels I’ve ever had. Really great food, and service. Will definitely return
Everything ran very smoothly, I love this local independent cafe and I was very pleased they were open again. The new covid system worked well. It was nice to return and feel like the old “normal” going out with a friend for brunch and a coffee.
Hawkes House was as always fabulous.
Service was very good, food arrived very quickly and the ambiance was lovely.
Excellent service, everything was in place to make us feel safe on our visit and very much looking forward to going back
Lovely food, staff really helpful and adhering to distancing at all times.
Friendly service, good food, nice atmosphere
Lovely place, food was great
Enjoyed a lovely evening with friends. Food was very good but little disappointed the menu has been limited. Ambience obviously quieter than before Covid but still had great time. Excellent service, very welcoming. Would definitely go again.
The roast potatoes were dry. The roast beef was in 1cm slices, so tough to eat and very chewy. Beef should be sliced thinly. The service was haphazard
Cosy environment with friendly staff. Have eaten here before and really loved it. This time it was just average. Maybe my expectations were too high as a first meal out since lockdown began. But enjoyable enough for me to be planning a return visit soon.
So good to eat out again!
Very friendly, efficient and helpful. A good experience, coming out of lockdown. Happy to return and recommend friends to visit.
Really friendly staff, happy to bring out extra sauces to go with our food. It would be great if they knew, or worked alongside, a local taxi firm.
It is great to see Hawkes House open again, they gave confidence with a safe operation from arrival to departure with great food and great service. If I was to be picky, we felt a little forgotten about on occasion, especially when it came to clearing plates from the main course and when serving desserts. I appreciate the style of service has changed, it’s now completely table service and does put more of strain on the service team, hopefully these were just teething issues they’ll soon iron out. All in all, I wish HH and the team the very best and we will continue to support this fantastic eatery
Warm welcome, food was ok for a mid week meal. Great value as we went during the government “eat out to help out promotion”
Chairs not very comfortable & the music was too loud .
Provide customer requests first time, eg for sauces Clean outside tables better
Adults food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Kids offering was disappointing; over priced for what was served. The hot dog roll was a very hard almost stale ciabatta roll that had been toasted to make it more appealing. The fish and chips was much smaller than expected and didn't fill our 6 year old.
Felt safe and taking hygiene very seriously.
Reduced choice on menu (completely understandable), we weren’t offered sauces, salt, vinegar. However staff were amazing.
Burgers need work - the patty was very dry and too fat compared to its diameter. Halloumi fries were a bit cold so the cheese was a bit too squeaky for my liking. Staff were very friendly and the service was quick.
Great to back! Food and atmosphere as good as ever. Well organised for social distancing and the table service is a big improvement on before.
I love Hawks House and have been here many times over the years. This was our first visit since it reopened and everything was perfectly fine however the food didn't seem to match it's previous standard? I ordered a Buddha bowl and whilst it was alright, it was the most definitely the smallest Buddha bowl I've ever had and certainly didnt feel like it was worth £9! Felt a but ripped off... buddha bowls are a simple food to create and the number one feature it's abundance of food (hence the name) the portion I had felt more like and attempt to not over feed a starving child somewhere in Africa... that said, I still love Hawks and will be back but I hope there will be a bit more of a consistency with the standard of food you guys produce- after all, that's why people come in... we're happy to support local businesses and appreciate how difficult times must have been and that everyone is doing the best they can... good luck with everything :)
No mayo in the coleslaw was poor. I thought the hot dog was not up to your usual standards. My girlfriend's steak was not cooked as requested. The vegan burger was very stodgy. Eaten here loads before and always a good experience. This was poor however. I guess it was first night back?
