Excellent service. Very smooth and straight forward from booking the table to leaving the pub. Very friendly efficient staff. Felt very safe throughout
Very good all round and excellent food although food was very rich so a bit too much for me.
Food was excellent .our friend found veg a little hard alas this is a matter of choice..The service was excellent , especially as they were so busy .
Lovely pub and great food, good value. Highly recommend!
Lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere
I could not fault my whole experience at the jolly sailor under the circumstances of social distancing, it was really busy and food was coming to the tables 30-45 minutes late but it wasn’t a problem as we all knew the pressure the staff were under. The staff could not of been more accommodating and apologetic to us, the food was amazing and I will be definitely coming back again soon to enjoy this lovely pub once again
Lovely setting. Really good food. Staff were very welcoming and provided excellent service.
Was nervous about visiting due to previous posts absolutely nothing to worry about. We were bought a voucher for Xmas decided at the start of lockdown easing to use it to celebrate our wedding anniversary which happened to be a Wednesday was able to use it during eat out to help out. There was a very good menu selection customer service was excellent owner came over and spoke to us personally. Will definitely visit again and highly recommend.
I have nothing to say, except that everything was perfect
The food was amazing and the service was friendly and very quick. I would recommend to others
Excellent setting, service especially good and food enjoyed.
Went recently when the social distancing measures had been put in place, really quick to get served, food came out within 10 mins (very surprised as the garden was full!), staff very helpful and overall great visit! Thank you for being open!
Lovely people very tentative great food but a little pricey but overall great time
Fantastic experienced, and felt very comfortable even with social distancing in place
I can't comment upon the food as the three of us only drank and had crisps but it was a really nice gesture to give me a birthday G & T; most grateful. Love the Jolly's setting and is fantastic on a sunny day/evening. Unfortunately for me, the sun never shines on my birthday (in the middle of July) and so it bucketed it down - although we were nice and dry under the large umbrella that covered the table.
Friendly staff, good food, lovely setting by the river. Did a brilliant job considering the covid19 situation. Thank you
Lovely food- great service.
Great service even though bar manager was on his own that day. Pub has such a lovely position right by the Weir but feel outdoor area could do with a bit of a refresh especially the path from car park to make more accessible and attractive.
Lovely setting. Friendly owner and staff. Good food. Only negative don't serve steak on the summer menu. Shame. One of my favourite places to eat. Would recommend.
Fab experience. Nice to be out again to something near normal. The guys that run the Jolly Sailor are friendly, efficient and welcoming. Food was good and reasonably priced. Menus were a bit grubby but otherwise a great place.
Really friendly manager/ owner ? and staff, great Sunday lunches and plenty of it. Decor a bit tired and tatty so not a dressy, special occasion type place but will certainly be going back and happy to recommend. Thank you for looking after us
Had a fantastic time. Will definitely come back
Excellent service despite being extremely crowded evening.
Incredibly busy hot lunchtime Staff coped well Parking a problem Got blocked in
We sat outside and it was lovely. Socially distanced queuing to order food and drinks at the bar, and one way entry/exit system. The staff were lovely. The only real issue we had was the toilets. The ladies’ smelled very bad and floors/cubicles were dirty. We were at the pub for 5-6 hours and don’t think the toilets were cleaned at all during that time. Not sure how covid safe that is.
Very enjoyable visit, much helped by sunshine. Very heloful staff.
With all the customers and the beautiful location a little bit of effort to produce food of decent quality would really do this place well. Unfortunately, the food is just frozen and deep fried. The sunday roasts looked bland.
The staff were very attentive and kindly gave my husband a free pint of beer, having picked up that it was his birthday. My chicken korma was lovely but there wasn’t any korma in it at all. It wasn’t just mild, I think the korma had been left out completely. However, it was melt in the mouth so I didn’t complain. One of our party had a coronation chicken jacket potato but was disappointed that the filling was cold. She wasn’t sure if that’s par for the course, so she didn’t say anything. One of our party asked for salt and sauce with her meal and was a bit frustrated that drinks orders and deliveries were concentrated on whilst she was still waiting and well through her meal before they came. The first two dessert choices were unavailable so we had to take third choice. That said, we did have a lovely time and were allowed to move our tables around to suit us. I appreciate that the restaurant is newly re-opened so it’s early days for the busy staff to get used to everything. We were asked a few times if everything was good and we said yes because overall everything was great. This review is nit picking but you did ask!
Eating at an outside table on a cold day is never so good as an inside one, but that’s Covid! The food and drinks were what we expected and service, given the circumstances , was prompt and there was probably a smile behind the mask. Had to ask for a another black coffee as it was not up to scratch but the replacement was brought out immediately and with an apology.
My meal was very good; my husband’s meal mediocre. We had to wait a very long time between first & second course. My husband described the pub as “Tatty”; could do with some TLC especially ladies loo which was not very clean.
Lovely food but waited almost 1 hour for it
Making a table reservation online was straight forward. On arrival we were told to pick any table. After sitting at our table for a while with our drinks we were asked to move due to another reservation. We moved to a table in a nice location by the river but it was sticky and covered in ants. Cigarette butts littered the paving. The food arrived in good time and was splendid. All in all in a mixed bag but prompt service, nice location and very good food.
Overall experience good but rating pulled down by nanbread for my guest not cooked all way through plus the milk jug (for the coffee) was cracked and I pointed it out to our waitress who was very attentive. The service was efficient and spacing in the conservatory good.
Efficient social distancing and staff were wearing masks so that was reassuring. However, the state of the menus was tatty, didn't look as if they'd been changed since before Covid! Chicken Korma was nice though perhaps not so creamy as usual. Grandson said his burger was rather greasy. Excellent service including water for our dog. Good value for money.
