The word “curry” has much more to offer than just an oversimplification of an Indian cuisine coined by the English. We arrived just after a large group do it took a while to order our food. There were just two waiters covering food and bar so weee short handed but did very well considering. They were very tolerant of my daughters three little children but they were past eating before the food arrived over an hour later. Food was excellent when it did come.

Our third visit to Mantra and a really lovely evening to get our celebration weekend in Bath off to a wonderful start. The lady who took our orders was extremely helpful in helping with the amount of rice/bread we would need to order. It would have been nicer to be seated in the restaurant area rather than the bar but I appreciate that, as there was 10 of us, that would have been difficult and we would have disturbed the other diners! Loved the delicious various dishes on the menu as they are so fresh and tasty. I tend to have 2 or 3 small dishes and mix it up with rice as I can never decide on one and never disappointed. Im veggie and partner eats meat so we’ve tried lots of different things on the menu too. My top favourite is the Okra and my partners is Chicken 65! Amazing work and lovely Team. Thank you all! X

Being from out of town we were concerned about safety on our first “staycation” but we had nothing to worry about here! Tables spaced and semi-outside due to bifold doors open to circulate air accompanied by all staff wearing masks gloves and using sanitizer (readily available around restaurant) ... food was great ... I mean really authentic and someone obviously knows how to use spices who cooks here. The menu was not your typical korma and madras, it was well thought out and worth looking at before you go if you are just after Bhuna and chips. Starters arrived swiftly and were well presented. Onion bhajis were small, light and tasty not oversized grease balls. The lamb shish was spiced to perfection. For main the butter chicken was warming and full of flavour with great spicing, and the lamb rogan josh was mild but again totally tasty. The mushroom rice had been well cooked and was not an afterthought. We had to wait a while for our mains but they were worth it. Would definitely come back

The food was quite excellent as usual and the service was impeccable. The only improvement needed is in respect of the loos; unfortunately a few guests make it unpleasant for the majority of us.

First time in Bath and chose Mantra for our evening meal. Very accommodating, food was tasteful and enjoyable Indian music in background.Only disappointment was the service between starters and mains. It took very long time and we had to eventually chase, not great when dining with young children, especially as it was getting late. But other than that would definitely recommend and visit again. We had a lovely evening at Mantra. We had one potentially tricky moment which fortunately was averted when a waitress realised that she had given a chicken dosa to the vegetarian in our party! Fortunately it was the first dish served and hadn't been touched whilst we waited for the other dishes to arrive. Otherwise excellent food and definitely to be recommended.

I went here on the basis of Trip Advisor and was slightly worried what it would be like - it was great! When we arrived it had only just opened for the night so we were almost the first in, as a consquence the large number of staff were almost too attentive, but it quickly filled up and the staff numbers were neeed to cope with a very busy restaurant. food was great, wine was great, I will definitely be back

The new chef has brought standards back to the previous best and the overall quality has been much improved.
