Everything was great from the beer to the service and food. We were a group of five on a weekday lunchtime so there weren’t many people in there but the staff were so welcoming and willing to accommodate different options. I really don’t like brioche buns with burgers and so many places don’t offer alternatives but that wouldn’t have been a problem here. We’ll definitely be back.

We loved it! A friendly welcome and a nice atmosphere. We all had the same main course and all agreed it was superb. Imaginative food with so much flavour in every element. We did have different desserts but again agreed they were delicious. Very much a success

Very difficult to say anything was wrong. Good service, good food and drink. The upper tier dining area where we ate was quieter than the bar area where other tables were laid for food. Early booking is essential if you want to use the upper dining area.

WOW! What a wonderful experience we had at The Red Lion. I was recommended by a friend and was not disappointed. Such a friendly welcome with a choice of tables, drinks served efficiently & our order taken. Then the food appeared! Such a superb roast lunch with amazing vegetables (what did you do to those carrots?). Very nicely presented & gravy to die for! I had to have pudding & had the rhubarb with cheese cake & ginger crumb….delicious- can’t wait to come again as the food was divine served by such delightful well trained staff - thank you!

Really good restaurant quality food in a “pubby” atmosphere. Service was excellent, friendly and efficient. Couldn’t fault it. As always, everything about The Red Lion is just marvellous. We have been visiting 3 or 4 times a year for some time. The Red Lion is one of the reasons we return to the area. Yet to be disappointed, the staff, the food, the beer and wine.. They have it right, a first class establishment run by first class people. Extraordinary pub with lovely walks. It is difficult to find superlatives appropriate to describe the value you get for the quality of food available at the Red Lion. The menu is creative, accessible, and seasonal. The Red Lion is the first pub I would recommend to anybody visiting the local area. Service is friendly and funny, attentive and anticipatory. If you visit Gloucestershire, it is absolutely worth you time to visit Arlingham, and the Red Lion.

The reason I marked down food and value was only for the Beef Meal, it looked and presented perfectly but was a very small portion with the smallest portion of potato which my daughter thought was parsnip. Service was good but we waited way too long to be asked if we would like a sweet & time was very late but then you surprised my husband with a Birthday Treat which meant so much to him. Otherwise it was an amazing experience, very friendly & a very enjoyable evening. We will be back with our friends who unfortunately couldn’t make it due to Thank you

We loved the warm welcome and excellent service, and that my daughter's (very well behaved) puppy was also made so welcome. The food was delicious .......apart from the miso ice cream which was just not nice! The starters and main courses were acceptably priced for such lovely food but we felt that the desserts were a bit expensive - however, that didn't stop us ordering one each! One area that could do with improvement is the ladies' loo. The "romantic" lighting in both cubicles was not appreciated - the bulb had failed in the light fitting that served them both, and they and the handwashing area were generally a bit scruffy feeling (but they were clean). Having said that, we very much enjoyed our meal and would definitely go again despite it being such a long way off the main road that it feels like you are heading into the back of beyond!

We’ve visited the Red Lion many times. The service is excellent and the staff friendly & the food has always been excellent. There were 4 of us on Sunday & we were being treated by friends so my husband didn’t want to complain but his roast lamb was just fatty bits at the end of the leg we think. He mentioned it & it was exchanged without any hesitation but unfortunately the second lot was not much better and his dinner was only just warm. He didn’t want to make an issue of it so he ate it. Our friends both had lamb, one was proper slices but the other appeared to be bits too but he didn’t comment. They both said they enjoyed their dinners. I had the vegetarian option and that was lovely. Two of us had the chocolate ganache dessert & that was delicious.

Lovely cosy pub full of character. The menu options are quite small , but for us this is a sign of freshly cooked food, and the choices demonstrate a passionate chef with skill flair and imagination . We all thoroughly enjoyed the food we chose. Service was good , attentive and engaging . One suggestion… on the website there is no up to date menu, so had it not been for a personal recommendation to visit, this could stop some new people from booking .

We missed Rosita and, altho' the staff are very sweet and pleasant, they need someone to watch over them and guide them. There was no friendly welcome and we should have been told that the quiz was on and been offered a table away from it as we were trying to have a quiet meal.

Sunday dinner was amazing. Was a bit of a wait for food to arrive but was worth the wait as so gorgeous. Home made yorkshire puds for the win! Would highly recommend
