When we arrived the waiting staff were great but after getting our food that’s the last we saw of them.
The table next to us walked out with dessert menus on the table but just paid & left. So we got their menus & one of our table went to the bar & asked if we could order. Extra drinks seemed hard work. We went to pay our bill but the service once main meal is served goes down hill.

15 of us sat down to our Christmas party dinner. The pub was very busy. We had pre-ordered. The food came out, giving us an unhurried time between courses. That is meaning we weren't rushed, NOT that it took a long time between courses!!
Very friendly staff who coped well with the crowd. They were not frazzled!
The food was delicious, and certainly plentiful. We had such a great time and would love to come again for next year's party.

Staff helpful and kind but could have done with an additional person for the busy lunch period.
Nobody came back to see if everything was ok with our meals.
We needed to find somebody to get gravy for us.
Overall food was pretty good
Pie was rather over- cooked making the pastry hard & meat had become dry, unfortunately.
Portion smaller than on previous occasions.
Fish pie tasty, but needed more fish.
Lots of potato not enough fish.
Mash was really nice and buttery.
The size of the triple chocolate brownie was much smaller than on previous occasions. Half the size. It was nicely presented, but 2 pieces whereas previously we’ve had 4 similarly sized triangles.
However, the lemon sponge & custard was generous and very tasty.

We absolutely loved it, my daughter who's birthday we were there for had the best time. The staff where kind and nothing was to much. They even put candles in her cupcake and bought it out. This is my go to pub/restaurant when visiting family in Backwell. It has even improved since I was last there which I didn’t think possible. My wife is a coeliac and the menu is fantastic for gluten free dishes - well done. Service is very good too with very pleasant staff. See you again soon.
