Freshness comes first here—we make everything we can from scratch in our kitchen, and we haven’t begun cooking your pasta until the moment you order it. Our motto, “tutto fatto a mano” translates to mean “everything made by hand,” and we believe that the personal connection to the preparation process can be tasted on the plate.

Love this space and the food. Inspired by dishes you would enjoy in Rome, this is not spaghetti and meatballs to our delight. Cacio e pepe was laced with indulgent white truffle oil and is the ultimate Italian comfort food. Cheese is used as a compliment to lovely first courses of seasonal veggies. Carbonara, Gnocchi and cremini mushroom pasta were also delightful. Dessert ran the gammut of warm homemade cookies to a surprisingly flavor packed strawberry gelato with basil shortbread. Just plain yum!

This was our first time to Inizio for my friend’s birthday. K was our server and their service was perfection. When the second setting was laid, they saw that there was a slight smudge on a knife, and immediately whisked it away to be replaced within the next minute. The Bolognese was unctuous and fantastic. The crab dish was rich in flavor, but deliciously light in texture, and so good paired with the house Pinot Grigio. The hanger steak was perfectly cooked, rare to medium rare, (just how I like it!) tender, and flavorful. The smoky potatoes were a subtle nod to the grill and the saffron sauce was delightful. Overall, a wonderful experience, and I will certainly recommend Inizio to my friends and colleagues. And it can’t be said too many times; our server, and their service, was was absolutely impeccable. Thank you!
PS- Since you asked for feedback, I will say that the bruschetta toppings were tasty, but I felt a little lemon zest and fresh dill would have put it over the top for me. Thank you, again.

I was completely blown away by our dining experience at Inizio on Friday, 9/4. The ambiance was lovely, and each and every course we had was beyond amazing. One of the best dining experiences we've had in a very long time. I would say Inizio's is on par with San Marco, if not better. Their homemade farmer's cheese, bread and butter, made daily, was a meal in itself. The gnocchi contained just the right blend of spices, while the frutti di mare was chock full of delicious seafood. Cocktails and dessert were the perfect bookends to a wonderful evening. We can't wait to go back.

We had a lovely experience. Pan bread, salad, broccolini and pasta’s, all wonderful. Service was great. (Cleared empty glassware, i love that.) Two minor criticisms, food was a little bit salty for me, and the pour on the sangria was light. (Same line as wine but sangria is packed with ice.) So glad you exist!

I dined at Inizio for the first time recently. I regret, it was a disappointing experience. The service and food were sub par and the portions were meager making it overall a poor experience for the price. I had to park kind of far away and coming as a solo female, that stretch of Elmwood had some dicey people loitering and felt unsafe at night. The ambiance inside was lovely - warm and elegant. However, our server appeared hurried the whole time and gave us perfunctory service. My party had the zucchini and mushroom appetizer and bread and butter (the bread was great, but should have been served gratis, not charged $8 for as an “appetizer”and we were not given enough butter, had to scrape the little dish it came in to get enough for the bread), the cacio e pepe, vodka sauce pasta, and the gnocchi. The zucchini and mushrooms were undercooked almost raw zucchini on an overly salted bed of some kind of nubby dark paste with very stinky mushrooms - terrible! The gnocchi were pillowy and light but the rest was a disappointment. The gnocchi were described as being served with heirloom tomatoes garlic and olives. They were served in what can best be described as a flavorful runny broth with three tiny, mushy, mealy, chunks of tomato. The cacio e pepe was gummy and unflavorful, and the pasta with vodka sauce was dry and flavorless. And all the portions were extremely small. I’m a small eater and I felt hungry after I finished my little plate of gnocchi. We ordered peach cheesecake with caramel and crumble to share for dessert. It was delicious and well executed, but equally micro in size. We each maybe got two little bites of it. The overall meal and service was pretty dismal and not at all a good value. $34 for that tiny plate of gnocchi! I will not be dining at Inizio again.

I loved Inizio. I shared two small plates with my dinner guest —the beet dish and the mussels. Both were fabulous as were each of our pasta dishes. We had the strawberry short bread dessert which also was excellent. My son enjoyed his cocktail and my wine was very good. It was an excellent meal with fantastic service. I would highly recommend the restaurant and definitely plan on returning.

ABSOLUTELY loved the ambiance, the service was fantastic, and that free splash of Prosecco!!! Very classy!! It was clean and we had great service! Our waitress/service/hostess were very polite, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. She wished my friend a Happy Birthday. It was very sweet and special. I would only say that I wish the bolognese had more sauce/meat on the noodles. If you are paying $20 for a meal, you should definitely be getting what you’re paying for. The freshly made noodles were fabulous though! The strawberry goat cheese salad was refreshing and delicious! Overall, an amazing experience! I will definitely come back again.

Feng Shui over Customer Satisfaction. Outstandingly disappointing evening. It was planned to be a very joyful occasion to celebrate a birthday, a retirement, and new job. We had to book two tables for 4 and 2 because the online would not accommodate a booking for 6. We spoke on the telephone and asked if the tables could be adjacent. We were placed at two of three tables at opposite sides of in a unique space. Ludicrous explanation that the hostess was told she would lose her job if the tables were moved and it would destroy the ambiance of the space. There was absolutely no attempt to reconcile the situation so we ate split into two groups. Still astonished by the attempt at being ostentatious.

Everything was excellent! Our server was so knowledgeable about the wines and menu, she asked if we were on a time schedule (which we were) and made sure we were finished on time without feeling to he slightest bit rushed. Would recommend without hesitation and will be going again soon!

A fabulous meal in a comfortable and peaceful setting. Our party of four began with wonderful craft cocktails. One (very small) criticism is that the bar did not have the ingredients for a pretty common - though usually not in the evening - cocktail. High marks for our starters; the carpaccio was first rate and the mussels were pronounced outstanding. Our entree pastas were the highest quality. Perfectly cooked and sauced. One note - the Bolognese sauce could have used a touch more seasoning. We were too full on this visit to try dessert, but we will certainly be back. Five stars!

The host and waitstaff seemed snooty and unfriendly. We wanted to order appetizers first and then order the meal. That was not allowed. We ended up leaving because we did not feel welcomed or comfortable. I cannot comment on the food although it looked and smelled it delicious.
