Inizio is a cozy, pasta-focused restaurant in beautiful Elmwood Village. Freshness comes first here—we make everything we can from scratch in our kitchen, and we haven’t begun cooking your pasta until the moment you order it. Our motto, “tutto fatto a mano” translates to mean “everything made by hand,” and we believe that the personal connection to the preparation process can be tasted on the plate.

The volume was a little loud where we were seated (area with the surrounding windows) and I would've preferred one of the empty tables inside the restaurant due to the noise of the other tables around us. They weren't even that loud but it was the fact that all the tables were talking and all of them were filled at the same time.

Had the melon prosciutto salad, pesto pasta with peas and pistachios, bread and butter and seafood pasta. Everything was delicious and fresh. Only complaint, guest ordered side of lump crab to be added to seafood pasta and it was barely noticeable in the dish.

Thank you for moving up our reservation when we called so that we could come in earlier. Our food was delicious. The mussels had such an incredible depth of flavor which the bread did justice to and the polenta and broccolini were a wonderful pairing. Our server was both efficient and welcoming.

This was our first time to Inizio for my friend’s birthday. K was our server and their service was perfection. When the second setting was laid, they saw that there was a slight smudge on a knife, and immediately whisked it away to be replaced within the next minute. The Bolognese was unctuous and fantastic. The crab dish was rich in flavor, but deliciously light in texture, and so good paired with the house Pinot Grigio. The hanger steak was perfectly cooked, rare to medium rare, (just how I like it!) tender, and flavorful. The smoky potatoes were a subtle nod to the grill and the saffron sauce was delightful. Overall, a wonderful experience, and I will certainly recommend Inizio to my friends and colleagues. And it can’t be said too many times; our server, and their service, was was absolutely impeccable. Thank you! PS- Since you asked for feedback, I will say that the bruschetta toppings were tasty, but I felt a little lemon zest and fresh dill would have put it over the top for me. Thank you, again.

A great meal. Super service. Brilliant cocktails. My only minor quibble would be the menu, first that we were encouraged to use our phones and then the layout of the menu itself. I would have preferred a real menu without being made to feel like I was putting the server out (this was not the server's fault; they offered, but it would have meant having them walk back to wherever to get it.)

Food and drinks were amazing! Have been coming since you’ve opened. My only negative comment would be the complimentary Prosecco glass we received was a sip, it used to be an actual glass. Overall a most satisfying experience. The food, the service was of the highest quality. My wife and I rated our dinner as one of the best we have ever enjoyed. My only negatives were the noise level was a bit high but certainly not unbearable. Top notch food and friendly, fast service, and the speed did not in any way take away from the high quality of the food. The appetizers themselves would be plenty for a meal with generous portions and lots of interesting options. The only feedback (which is personal preference) is that while we were seated by the window which helped with the lighting, the back of the restaurant definitely seemed very dimly lit, so when we go back (which we certainly will!), we’d probably try to reserve the seats where we can see better.
