I thought the whitebait was a little over cooked and the mussels were quite small. Fish and chips were good, lovely crunchy chips.

Our whole experience at the Black Bull was excellent. Head chef Rob cooks amazing food, Luke and all the other staff are helpful and friendly and the Black Bull itself is a great country pub. Heartily recommended.

The roast dinner was lovely, thank you. One thing, we both loved the thick gravy but other people may not want so much gravy on their plate. I recommend putting it in a jug .

Everything was excellent. A water bowl was even provided for the dog. We were a party of 6 including a five year old plus dog and were given a table in a cosy relaxing area which was perfect. The service was attentive and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. A perfect family lunch

Met up for lunch with my sister, picked the Black Bull as Balsham is halfway between us. And what a great pick!! Staff were lovely and service was great, the menu was varied and interesting and the quality was superb! Plus the setting was lovely, we sat outside because the weather was gorgeous, but all the inside seating looked comfortable and cosy too. We will come back

I visited with a friend who ordered the pie with mash, beans and gravy which they enjoyed. I ordered fish and chips. The batter was light and crispy but there was very little fish and it was quite greasy. The chips were very fat and oblong, which personally, I'm not keen on, preferring thinner chips that are crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside.
This is one of many visits I have made to the Black Bull and I will continue to be a customer!

Very comfortable stay with excellent food available.
Liked · We were very pleased with the room, especially having a superkingsized bed as that is what we are used to. Everything was very clean, and very well equipped. I liked the touch of having a lock on the bedside cabinet for valuables.
We had dinner there in the evening and the quality of food exceeded my expectations, and that was also true of the breakfast the following day.
Disliked · The only downside to the room would be the shower, it would benefit with a pump to make it more powerful.
The room had an information folder which was useful as it also contained a copy of the dinner menu. Having decided what we would have we then found that menu was 'an old one' which was a shame.

We had a lovely stay for 2 nights. Our meal was lovely. The rooms were nice but just two criticisms, one is that the room lighting is very poor, ladies cannot see to put makeup on, the other is that there was no plug socket near the table where the kettle was so we had to boil the kettle on the floor or under a lamp.
Luke the Manager was amazing, attentive, polite and very helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

What a fabulous pub. Right from the minute we walked in, staff were so friendly. The menu for Sunday lunch was excellent, a choice of roasts as well as a few other dishes.
The food was sublime. Service was great and the whole experience was so enjoyable. We will be back.

Super meal thanks. Lamb roast with enormous Yorkshire. Lamb cooked to perfection. The vegetables were perfect too, carrots not soft and not too hard, al dente perfect too. Delicious gravy.
Maybe a suggestion, bit more gravy needed when roast served with a Yorkshire. I’m being picky though.
Excellent friendly and efficient service. We sat outside and I thought it may be weird sitting so near the carpark but on a hot day it was fine in the shade. I’d have preferred to be in back garden but no umbrellas up. That seemed odd to me! Anyway overall an excellent experience thank you.

Really lovely and attentive staff. We had a 5yr old and a 1yr old in our party, we were all made very welcome. We had an early lunch booking, so our 1yr old could totter about for a bit. Beef Sunday Roast was amazing, huge Yorkshire, rare beef and lots of veg !
