Excellent Sunday roast. We eat here regularly for Sunday lunch. For the excellent quality food the price is appropriate. Consistently the best roast beef we have had. Staff are always friendly and helpful and very welcoming to our dogs.

Absolutely amazing Roasts, thanks! The brownie did have a funny taste, a bit like solvent glue. Not sure what would have given it that flavour but we all had a taste and thought the same. We'll be back for more roasts though!

I visited with a friend who ordered the pie with mash, beans and gravy which they enjoyed. I ordered fish and chips. The batter was light and crispy but there was very little fish and it was quite greasy. The chips were very fat and oblong, which personally, I'm not keen on, preferring thinner chips that are crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. This is one of many visits I have made to the Black Bull and I will continue to be a customer!

Very comfortable stay with excellent food available. Liked · We were very pleased with the room, especially having a superkingsized bed as that is what we are used to. Everything was very clean, and very well equipped. I liked the touch of having a lock on the bedside cabinet for valuables. We had dinner there in the evening and the quality of food exceeded my expectations, and that was also true of the breakfast the following day. Disliked · The only downside to the room would be the shower, it would benefit with a pump to make it more powerful. The room had an information folder which was useful as it also contained a copy of the dinner menu. Having decided what we would have we then found that menu was 'an old one' which was a shame.

First time I have visited this pub. Host was very welcoming. Seated in a nice window seat overlooking garden. Despite being early host took our order and it was served promptly. We had a lovely stay for 2 nights. Our meal was lovely. The rooms were nice but just two criticisms, one is that the room lighting is very poor, ladies cannot see to put makeup on, the other is that there was no plug socket near the table where the kettle was so we had to boil the kettle on the floor or under a lamp. Luke the Manager was amazing, attentive, polite and very helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Super meal thanks. Lamb roast with enormous Yorkshire. Lamb cooked to perfection. The vegetables were perfect too, carrots not soft and not too hard, al dente perfect too. Delicious gravy. Maybe a suggestion, bit more gravy needed when roast served with a Yorkshire. I’m being picky though. Excellent friendly and efficient service. We sat outside and I thought it may be weird sitting so near the carpark but on a hot day it was fine in the shade. I’d have preferred to be in back garden but no umbrellas up. That seemed odd to me! Anyway overall an excellent experience thank you.

Just got back from an overnight stay at the black bull! Wow wow wow. Pub so warm and cosy lovely real fire, lovely comfy seats! Rooms beautifully furnished, bed comfy shower great. Lovely selection of different teas, cafetière coffee and biscuits. Meal last night was cooked beautifully and presented so nicely! Breakfast very hot with quality ingredients. But what made our stay so lovely we’re the staff! Tommy greeted us with a big smile and showed us our rooms and explained all about breakfast times. The chef (sorry didn’t get his name) was so friendly as was sally the lovely in pub dog! We will def be returning! Nothing can be faulted about this lovely place! Thank you so much!

Brilliant food. We visited for a family Sunday Lunch and we had a fantastic meal. Alex, Tom, chef Rob and all the FOH and kitchen brigade make this a memorable and very enjoyable place to eat. We messed about with numbers a few times and bearing in mind this was on January 2nd, Tom and Alex juggled tables impressively and literally! I can certainly commend the excellent customer service. Proper old fashioned lovely village pub Sunday Lunch. Not a massive choice, it’s Sunday lunch, not a tasting menu, so do it well and don’t mess about! And that’s exactly what they do. Probably one of the best roast beef, Yorkie etc. lunches I’ve had in a pub…and I’ve had a few! Get the pork cheeks starter if it’s on the menu…that’s definitely a keeper! So…brilliant staff, fabulous food, great setting. I enjoyed a great evening here with my work colleagues a couple of nights before Christmas. It was a nice quiet time of year to go. Great ambience, good service and value for money. I had a very nice prawn dish to start followed by delicious salmon fillet for the main dish.
