This feedback is for the takeaway service during lockdown. We've used this three times in February: for Sunday roasts, and fish & chips, and pies. The arrangements are very efficient, with customers well spaced out for collection at different times, and the food served on time and hot so that it is still entirely warm enough to eat without reheating when one gets home. The food in each case was excellent -- most memorably the Sunday roasts, though the meat pies also deserve special mention.
Lovely Valentine's Day / Sunday lunch delivered. Tasty food. Will definitely book again.
All good! Can you charge me using the information I have sent you?
Excellent click & collect service. Delicious Sunday roast, the beef was melt in the mouth!
This was a takeaway during lockdown, so scores for e.g. ambience are related to suitability for the occasion. Excellent service, great food, very much appreciated
Great food, Covid safe, warm and welcoming staff
Really tasty meal good friendly service lovely place would definitely go again
Lovely evening. Helpful staff.
Lovely meal with lovely, helpful and friendly staff. Will definitely be back!!
What a fabulous lunchtime venue: welcoming, warming and well-catered. In these difficult times eating out has become so much more difficult - but the staff and the atmosphere at the Black Bull make it all so easy & enjoyable. Thank you!
As good as ever
We absolutely loved our Sunday lunch. Clean plates from us and 2 children. And amazing puddings too. Delicious! We shall be returning!
Nice place with the food being excellent as usual. Let down by the time waiting to be served.
Excellent Meal Lovely Environment Fantastic staff - nothing too much trouble for them
Lovely food and a good price because of eat out to help out scheme.
We use the sister pub at Hinxton frequently, but this was first experience of the Black bull loved it great pub looking forward to going again soon
Fabulous food and good service
I had a very special birthday meal yesterday. Food and service were outstanding. Many thanks to all. Debbie.
Very friendly and great service. Amazing location and amazing place
Lovely evening with family . The food was excellent. We went early as family had to drive back to London . Food was served swiftly. Service very friendly . Absolute bargain with Rishi discount . Will go again .
We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent
Great dining experience
Couldn’t fault a thing. Was such a lovely meal, fantastic service. Very friendly.
Great service, good food
An excellent pub. Good food, good service, friendly staff (nothing too much trouble). We will be back! Jerry and Alison Hayes
Great service, and delicious food. It's such a nice pub and plenty of space for social distancing.
All great just a bit quieter than usual but only due to the current crisis. Great evening though
Great food just for the price the probs aren't quite big enough
We love the Black Bull, but whilst the food was good, all of it was slightly overcooked, so on the tough side.
Really nice little country pub with excellent food and very attentive service. Highly recommend a visit
A very pleasant experience with courteous service and excellent food.
Always liked the food here.. and new chef doesn’t disappoint! Really delicious.
We were made very welcome and the food and service were excellent - thank you
Great to enjoy great food and evening at the Bull again. Everything felt very safe. Thanks to the whole team.
Great to be back... and the food was as good as ever. Thank you!
Wonderful to be able to clebrate a birthday with a mixed group of 6 in this heated outdoor space. Food was excellent. Service when it arrived was excellent but out in the marquee I think we were forgotten at times. It was a very very cold day and very cold in the marquee. Heaters were new in the marquee so hopefully it will get warmer and as people use it the service will be more attentive. The insulated floor is a very good idea and kept us in touch with our toes!
Very good food and service, just a bit chilly
Everything was great, it was a shame that the pub was more or less empty and for the meals all the food was cooked brilliantly. I’m always happy to support this pub because it is great for value.
It was the last day before lockdown and considering this everything we wanted on the menu was available . The quality of the food was good and this was all we could expect. The service was excellent and the only criticism I could make was that the temperature of the room was a little cool. Fortunately we were sat next to a radiator so it wasn’t bad.
The ice machine was not working and neither was the till. The food was good although my husband thought his main course looked smaller than mine. Given the space available we thought that the tables used for dining on the night of our visit were closer than necessary to each other.
Staff member friendly, & welcoming. Food tasty. A shame the pub was so quiet, but understandable under the circumstances.
A great new chef is at The Bull. We had a lovely family meal. Good mixed menu. Looking forward to see what else he can bring to the restaurant.
Beautiful pub, low ceilings that look the part, but are somewhat impractical for the taller folk such as my family and I. Also we felt this made the room slightly too dark. The service was amazing, and the two young lads looking after us made us feel so welcome. 2 out of 3 main course dishes were delicious (The burger and the pie) The vegetable tagine however was just carrots and raisins with boiled rice. Dessert surely made up for the lacking third main, with one of the best sticky toffee puddings I ever had! The dishes are quite pricey, and relatively small portions. However as I ate on a "eat out to help out" night, 50% was knocked off our bill, making it exceptional value for money.
It was all good, sat outside on the 50% Government Scheme. Wife disabled was ramp so ok not sure if designated disabled parking space at front though we parked ok. Need to offer something to keep customers coming in September, chatted about this with staff.
Good food, friendly service.
Very good meal served quickly and efficiently.
Well cooked and testy food but very restricted menu. When we arrived they were still awaiting the fish delivery which further restricted the choice. Apart from that the meal was very pleasant with service from a personable waitress and there was draught beer. Excellent!
Food and service always great. But when outside, I do think the ambience of the car-park could be improved.....less gravel, more garden?
1. Ale choice was a bit limited on the day we were there, but I know it's usually OK. 2. Value was obviously increased considerably by the last day of Eat Out to Help Out, but prices looked fine even without that. 3. Back garden not all it was cracked up to be.
Good all round.
