"Sushi and Salad is a beautiful little sushi bar and restaurant in the heart of Saffron Walden, Essex. Offering all things Sushi and complimentary hot dishes. Set in gorgeous surroundings giving the feel of a late 50s early 60 Japanese food bar, the atmosphere is very genuine and light hearted and only bettered by the food itself. I thought the food was delicious! I had a great time, the service was quick and efficient. What I loved the most was the live music as it made the restaurant such a nice environment to be in, but it also wasn't the main focus so you could still easily continue your conversation with tasteful entertainment in the background.

Really wonderful experience. The food was gorgeous. I had sushi which was delicious and my husband had pork and then chicken katsu curry as he's not a sushi fan. Really fab they can cater for both of us. Also all gluten and diary free for me, plus cocktails I could have and even a diary free hot chocolate, which was actually the nicest one I've ever had. So rich! It was our first time there on Saturday, the service was very friendly and helpful and such a lovely atmosphere, we will definitely go back.

We loved our meal. Food was delicious and service was great. I’d say best food and service in Saffron Walden. Even when there are problems they are dealt with in a friendly way, it doesn’t feel like they are drudging through a series of tasks. The interaction with the customer feels personal and they are always busy in a good way, no one’s slacking or avoiding customers! Excellent local restaurant.

My wife and I are pleased this restaurant has opened in Saffron Walden. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. The manager was very passionate about the food and very helpful.
One small complaint there was not a lot of choice for wine by the glass.

I called to say I was going to be 15 mins late. It was only at this point that I reapplied there was a time limit on the table. This meant that I felt rushed and unable to slowly and throughly look at the menu. I hastily chose something that I thought I would like.
I also said that I didn't have much experience with sushi. Sadly, at no point did they offer to help.
The cocktails were lovely and served by a lovely lady. The food was fantastic and I would go again (this was my 2nd visit).
I'm happy they were going to be busy that evening, I guess I felt that we were a hindrance.

Not welcomed in. Stood like lemons while waitress was on phone. Large glasses of wine were large in name and price only. No music. Have dined here before and had better experience. Had to send one dish back as it was poorly presented compared to last visit. There was no apology or follow up to see if we were happy. Very expensive.

Overall experience was ok. Unfortunately we couldn’t eat the peppered squid which was too over done. Staff was informed and the chef did cook us another lot. It was only slightly better but we still could not eat it. That’s was money wasted. 2 of the dishes were good but the other 2 were edible but not enjoyable.
