Food was very good. Two of our party had the steak pie and mustard mash which was tasty, one had fish and chips which was nice and fresh and the other had the sea bass which was cooked perfectly. All reasonably priced.
I would recommend eating here

Staff very friendly/helpful and informative. One member of our family was late back from hospital procedure so missed evening meal but staff made a sandwich for him to have in room. Very handy for park/ride to Cambridge. Would stay here again

This was my 2nd visit; the first visit was a chance encounter with some friends when we couldn’t get a table at another pub. We all fell in love with The Lord Byron and 3 out of 4of us had the fish and chips. I came back with another friend 2 days after Christmas and although fish and chips wasn’t available (fresh fish is always difficult to get after any weekend), the ham, duck’s eggs and chips were fantastic and the Sparta Ale was great. But the most important thing is that Michael creates such a friendly atmosphere that you want to come back for the experience. Although I live in Cambridge and work where I live, I’d be tempted to come for a 2-night break to enjoy the total experience, and I bet the breakfasts would be to die for!

Lovely varied menu. Especially lovely vegetable lasagna. Had a lovely table next to the log burner. Service was great but the poor barman had been a bit let down with staff and I think he was knackered, understandably. I will be back! Thank you.

Booked an early evening meal (6.30) arrived at the pub on time, ordered our meal within 10 minutes of sitting down but did not get our meal until 7-35, appreciate it was a Saturday and the weather was lovely so lots of people in the beer garden it wasn't until we received our meal that we were told that they are very busy, got one of our meals wrong and told us it would be another 20 minutes to change it to what we had ordered so ended up eating what they had brought, Hamburger instead of chicken, overall a lovely meal but could have done with more staff as the barman was also the waiter. This will not stop us going back.

The home-made steak pie was really good, excellent pastry and tasty filling although to nit-pick the pieces of meat could be larger and I would prefer the gravy served separately. The vegetables - cooked to perfection - came inclusive in the price. It was already very good value, before the 20% off January promotion.
The service was efficient and very friendly.
The pub is of the spit and sawdust variety, a bit tired looking but infinitely preferable to some of the soulless trendy places that abound.

We loved the characterful nature of the Inn with its interesting history. It had been well renovated without being superficially modern. We found the leather Chesterfields comfortable. And we particularly appreciated the friendly and attentive staff. The food was good and the Cambridge Black beer delicious.
We personally would have preferred the music to have been less noisy.
Altogether we had a most enjoyable outing to this lovely Inn and are looking forward to returning.

Nice people although short staffed nice food. accommodation needs updating and some TLC. outside area needs some improvements
