Lovely waitress, great food especially the sea bass which I often have & this was definitely the best I’ve had in a restaurant Free bottle of Prosecco for my birthday was fabulous only reason I give a lower mark for ambience was there was only us & one other table occupied, otherwise a great evening

The experience was even better than last time. The setting was lovely, the food was delicious and the hosting was great. A couple of minor things for me would be to warm the plates for the main course and to heat up the brownie for pudding, but overall we really enjoyed it and would return.

Amazing service and absolutely fabulous food as always! We’re local to the Windmill and it’s been our family favourite for years. My extended family come to visit and we now take them here and they love it. Good food, good pricing & good staff!

First visit for many years and thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday lunch. Absolutely no complaints My only comment would be could we have a more varied selection of vegetables please. We had carrots, parsnips, red cabbage and also white cabbage mixed with a few peas and leeks. Maybe one type of cabbage is enough?

We found the venue and staff very warm and welcoming. The food was delicious and good value. One small disappointment. On the booking it asked for any special celebrations or requests and although I said it was my son in laws birthday, nothing was differant. I thought maybe a balloon on the table would have been a nice gesture.

Great Bank Holiday afternoon catch-up with old school friends. Tried the carvery for the first time and it was amazing! Will definitely be back to try again soon. Staff were great as usual. Excellent pub atmosphere!

We were staying at Ferry Meadows caravan park just about 1 mile from the Windmill. Our daughter recommended the Windmill to us as she had used it before. We ordered a carvery. I have to say, we were not disappointed, the chef asked which meat we would like, there was beef, turkey or gammon, I asked for beef and he cut me 3 thick slices , my wife had turkey and she got 3 thick slices too ! The Yorkshire puddings were huge, and the vegetables were cooked to perfection, not too hard and not over cooked either. Best Sunday carvery we've had for ages. The service was excelent, and the staff were all very pleasant and attentive. Full marks to the Windmill, we will certainly be back for a meal the next time we stay in the area.

We had 2 wonderful visits to the windmill over our New Year break. First on Friday 29th, excellent meal. The steak and ale pie...amazing. The pub is friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is beautifully set out, clean and fresh. Vicky our waitress, lovely and friendly. Nice to be able to have a bit of banter and conversation with her. Sunday new year's eve, went and had the Sunday roast...don't gave a starter..the roast us enormous, very tasty and hot. Served really well. Served by Max who was a very nice friendly young man. We will define back when we visit again. We stayed at ferrymeadows campsite and have left our recommendations to some of the other residents on site. A definite good find. Best wishes.x

What a fabulous spot. Off the beaten track by a tiny street but that’s no problem. Massive kids area outside - big tick from us. The dining area indoors is very elegant. And we were the ONLY ones in there which was fabulous for us!! The menu was varied and interesting, and our server allowed me to mix & match from entrees & extras to build my own lunch. My husband’s steak was only just inside the medium rare requirement, but he said it was tasty & tender. The 3 kids all gobbled down their burgers before dashing off outside….. again!! To top our dining experience off we all had a lovely dessert - full to bursting after that! Our server, a gentleman, had a great sense of humour and a delight towards the kids. A lovely NZ wine to compliment my meal too. Ten out of ten. No complaints from the six of us.

Excellent food, lovely waitress. Great fresh vegetables and the apple and pear crumble was fantastic and very large. We had a vegetarian in our party and she was so pleased to have a meal that was freshly prepared and not a pasta or rice dish. She loved the toasted stuffed red pepper with all the veg. Absolutely delighted with the Windmill. They have not over reached themselves by having a huge menu including the kitchen sink as many restaurants do! Instead they have concentrated on top quality delicious food, with excellent vegetarian and gluten free options, well presented with excellent service... 10/10 from me and my guests

The Windmill was a lucky find for us. We were staying a night at the nearby Premier Inn who were unable to put us in for dining. The staff at the Premier Inn recommended the Windmill. We will certainly be heading for the Windmill again whenever we are in the area.

Excellent carvery with choice of tender beautifully cooked meats and good selection of freshly prepared vegetables served in spacious comfortable updated restaurant seating area but would have also liked option of either mash , dauphinoise or new potatoes in addition to just roast , also cauliflower cheese offered as carvery optional veg instead of as an extra item at additional cost .

On arrival we felt cold and asked if they could close the hall door we soon found out after that the heating was not working and had to sit in our coats.We later went to the bar and it was really warm we just wished we had the option to sit there.

Really great place with fantastic home cooked food, a sensible, well priced wine list and great service. When we got there are booked table was not ready for 3. So the stuck to tables together , wish was great. However they had not cleaned them, so I went to the toilet and got paper roll and hand soap and cleaned them myself . I could see the staff were very busy. However I will go back. Regards B

Hi we went to the windmill Sunday11th feb for a carvery, took the family. It was lovely, food was great hot, tasty. Friendly staff . My only gripe was the cauliflower cheese was all gone by 2.45 . It was Very busy and we will defo go back

Unfortunately, whilst the fish and chips looked amazing, the fish was very dry, and the pureed peas were also dry. 3 of us had sticky toffee pudding, there was possibly the equivalent of a teaspoon of ice cream with it.

The decor and ambience were very nice. The food was good. The only thing was that the vegan burger (as stated on the menu) wasn't vegan as the buns were brioche. Our waitress was very good. However when we asked for dessert we were told this was OK as the kitchen was still open, which seemed strange as it was only 8pm. All in all a good experience, nice menu, good food. I would return.

Really lovely overall experience - friendly and welcoming staff. There were a couple of changes to the menu; pearly barley risotto was risotto and sprinkled with hazelnuts rather than pine nuts. Champagne was Prosecco and chocolate fondant was a chocolate pudding of some sort. None of which were a problem but needed to be stated on the menu. Despite the unexpected ingredients, my partner and, having not been before, would go again as we enjoyed the overall experience.

Really good experience. Lovely food and served at a comfortable pace. Venue was cold (people sitting with coats on) and wasn’t busy making it very quiet when talking!
