Had a absolutely wonderful time the Sunday lunch was lovely even got mint sauce so I very happy I tried one of the special puddings, a whisky set custard with ginger and chocolate cake absolutely delicious I finished off with a vanilla latte as driving my partner sat under the whisky clock and had himself a few whiskies we were both very happy lovely warm friendly pub could not fault a single thing thank you

A very pleasant meal. Staff were helpful and attentive and gave us time to decide on what we would like. We both had fish dishes for starters and main course. All the fish was Fresh, perfectly cooked and very well presented with generous portions. We also managed deserts and once again, these were delicious.

The business is delightful, the food was excellent. Being dog welcoming was also a treat, as not everyone is. The beer was excellent as was the port and cheese. Overall a very pleasant experience. My sister thought it was very good value, I was less enthusiastic on this issue, as I’m tight. Lol

This is a delight of a place and we had a fabulous two visits for dinner during our holiday. Food is genuinely freshly prepared from high quality ingredients - the lamb chops, for instance, or the langoustine; simply delicious and deliciously simple. We were spoilt for choice - the specials board is especially attractive and varied (especially for fish dishes); we could have returned for several more, different meals very happily. The stand-out dish for me was a dessert: white chocolate and pistachio bread and butter pudding - I was initially sceptical of the flavour twist, but it was heaven on a plate (especially if, like me, you like your bread and butter pudding firmly stacked). For location, it's beautiful - sunset fell views from the restaurant windows. The service was perfect - helpful, friendly, and attentive without being at all intrusive, contributing to the cheerful ambience (the restaurant room is separate from the main bar area, so it is quieter, but not at all 'too quiet'). It all made for a 10/10 happy evening. We shall 100% return.

Hi We were a group of 9 & had booked but arrived early. Staff were really helpful & friendly. Food all came together as requested. The special burger was tasty & filling, quality of all the food was excellent our only disappointment was the sea trout being not such a hearty portion. Maybe bulk it out with more veg, salad or a slice of sour dough?

Unfortunately, there was a dog in the dining area with an extremely loud & repetitive bark. Our table was in a dimly lit corner & the bench seats were quite uncomfortable, with no back support.

Brook House Inn was great, big plates of food were perfect following a long day in the Fells. We had an issue with one of the meals served, but the fantastic staff were understanding, pleasant and swapped the dish without any fuss!!!

Overall this was a good dinner with a great brownie for pudding but some things let it down. The garlic bread was too hard in the middle and the one with cheese must have been cooked for longer as rock hard and a little heavy on the butter (mushroom starter too). The burger was not available so my husband was disappointed and although my daube of beef was really good I had to order a side of veg as there was so little on the plate which for a dish of nearly £20 could have been easily changed. The kids meals were a good portion, chips good, sausage and curry very tasty and the service good, rushed as they got very busy as expected! A nice place to eat but need to ensure everything is great for the price.

Food was well cooked though lacked a bit in the detail,my 'greens' with the sea trout were un impressive and the lemon sauce lacked enough tang for my taste.
Overall a good experience of decent value in todays market.

Quieter than we expected, shame they had run out of some of the specials. Full of eaters, atmosphere was fine given it was midweek and not so much happening.

The food was ok but we both agreed that 8 quid for cheese and pickle sarnie was far too expensive. Service was good and staff friendly but I doubt we would go back.
