Enjoy the talents of our students as they train to become chefs or hospitality professionals in Six Ninety One, the student-run restaurant. Named for the highway where Grayson College's Main Campus is located, "Six Ninety One" is a unique dining experience for the patron and the students who run the facility. Student chefs select a menu based on what skills are being taught that week, and student wait staff hone their fine dining serving skills while the guests enjoy a fine dining meal at a very reasonable price.

Let's see, the Library dosen't serve lunch and I haven't been to Thirty Four Bar & Bistyro yet, so I believe that Grayson County College's Six Ninety One Restaurant is the best choise for lunch in Grayson County. Currently open Wed and Fri fare is more than ample and always superbe. Even Escoffier would proud.

The recent reservation was cancelled by 691 because of icy weather, so we did not eat there then. We have eaten at 691 earlier and enjoyed the experience very much.

I had heard good reviews about this restaurant for a while and decided to take my mom out for a Mother's Day lunch. We both absolutely loved it! The food was delicious and the cheesecake was to die for! The waitress was friendly and made our experience a memorable one.

My experience was outstanding. The food and service were superb. I love experiencing new foods, prepared with the best ingredients, creativity, and the utmost in preparation and presentation. The food was wonderful. I don't know how, with the price of filet being what it is, that the paltry price of $15 per meal even covered the cost of the meat (and it was a generous portion) let alone the accompaniments. I had the scallops and they were also first rate. My wife and I are still hesitant to eat out, and our request for take-out was immediately honored, a win-win since we could then have a glass of wine with our meal in the comfort of our home. (It helps to live only 5 minutes from the restaurant.) We wish the program and the future chefs it is training all the best for the future.

Food was perfect. Liked the salad, muffins and bread pudding with ice cream best. Presentation perfect.
Waiter, Riley, was very nice, but he made a few minor serving mistakes:
Removed the butter plate before bringing an additional muffin.
Placed drink on left side instead of right.
Spoke too quitely to understand at times.
Wasn't sure what sugar-free drinks were available but quickly found out.
Suggestions:
Riley must overcome his shyness. May only be a lack of confidence. He will need a little coaching. I am confident that he will be a fantastic server with practice.
Riley's positive traits:
He has no traits that might impede his success.
He's attractive and takes care of himself - this will serve him well.
He has perfect timing, not hovering or inattentive.
He has manners.
He could smile a bit more to make customers comfortable.
Once he gains confidence and speaks a bit louder, there is nothing he needs to overcome. No odd hair, tatoos, piecings, etc. - nothing anyone might find objectionable.
I'll be back!

Overall the experience was great. I loved the salad and the burger. I also enjoyed the creme brulee. There was a bit of a hiccup with my not knowing that there were strawberries on the dessert, but I was pretty full already, and the part that I did eat was delicious. The wait staff was friendly and highly personable. The only issue I had service wise was that my waiter forgot to remove the dishes and silverware as the meal progressed. No big complaints though. Just teaching moments!!
