The familliar Greek menu-flaming cheese, lamb with vegetables, lamb chops, shish kebob, moussaka and spinach pie, plus a few Cypriot dishes-all done with a more refined touch than the usual in Greektown.

Back in the '70s, third-generation restaurateur James C. Kokas had a dream: to open an upscale restaurant in downtown Detroit. By the mid-'80s, all was in place: the transformation of an old taxi garage on East Larned Street into a fine dining restaurant called Opus One. From the building's updated facade to the meticulous interior details, the appearance of the restaurant is today a glowing reflection of that hard work and fine planning.

Cuisine features contemporary French-American "cuisine", classic French desserts and world class wines and spirits. Cuisine had the distinct honor of being named "Restaurant of the Year" by the Detroit Free Press in 2002.

A creative blending of influences from around the Mediterranean rim, the majority of dishes served are inspired from the cuisines of Italy, France, Morocco, Spain, Greece and the Middle East. Assaggi Bistro now offers a full liquor license and wine listing with a selection of over 120 wines from select vineyards around the world.
