Roots Devon

First time at roots. Lovely independent cafe, food was lovely, staff friendly & obliging. We will visit again.

This was my second visit to Roots and on both occasions I’ve received really friendly, welcoming and professional service from all members of staff. The food was fresh and full of flavour and definitely on my list for a return visit! I’ve marked the atmosphere as an 8, although not a reflection on the restaurant, I love the fact it’s dog friendly but there were a couple of people who brought a dog in that ‘didn’t like other dogs!’ I thought it was unfair on the resident dog to be tethered as a result. I wondered how we would have had to adjust our lunch because of their anxious dog had my puppy been there? So my feeling is if your dog is likely to attack others through fear, please don’t put them through it or ruin other people’s enjoyment of eating out. Other than the loud couple and their dog it was a lovely lunch and I look forward to returning next time
