Tables cleared when we went to the toilet despite leaving our bags so staff knew we hadn’t left. Our sharing starter had not long been bought out along with our bottle of Prosecco which when we returned to the table both had gone. Food was taken off the bill by a member of staff after several discussions as she saw how full the plate was when it was cleared (unlike the manager who offered a 15% discount). Atmosphere was nice & welcoming to begin with but not sure we will be in a rush to return due to table being cleared!!

The waiters were polite and attentive but didn’t understand us several times.
They brought two alcohol drinks in error instead of Ayran yougert and had to replace it.
They brought the wrong starters but we ate them anyway.
We asked for a child’s French fries and ketchup but had to ask for the ketchup again.
We asked for Turkish tea but got one instead of four.
Having said that, everything was corrected quickly.
Also there was a black hair on my Starter plate !

I had the best Birthday and I was so happy to have spent it at Dem Shish with my friends! The staff were polite and accommodating, food was served promptly. The live singer was talented, and even though we sat right next to her, the music was not overbearing. The food was delicious, most of us had lamb, some had chicken dishes, but it was simply divine. And everyone surprised me by singing Happy Birthday, I was flattered, and the pistachio chocolate cake was delicious. Also came with a big sparkler! Thank you all so much for making my day so special! The only improvement I would suggest is to make the floor to the toilets a bit less slippery - my shoes had no grip and I was close to slipping as it's polished laminate. Otherwise, the restaurant's ambiance and décor were gorgeous, especially the malachite-inspired walls. :)

When we were on a mini break in Eastbourne, my partner and I ate at Dem Shish. The food was lovely, the atmosphere in the restaurant was just right and the great level of service added to what was a perfect evening. My ratings speak for themselves. I had the chicken shish and enjoyed the light smokey flavor. My partner had two mezes (falafel and sigura) and rated them both highly. The only negative on the evening was that the sound level of the music when we arrived was too high for our comfort, but the staff promptly turned the sound down and it was fine after. So I'd also add 10 for responsiveness.

This is an authentic Turkish restaurant with easy access from public transport and good on street parking.
The staff are very amiable, courteous and professional. The food is freshly prepared and delicious. The six of us cleared our plates!
They have live music in the evenings but unobtrusive music at lunchtime.
We will definitely be returning for another feast.

Overall experience was good, always a good vibe on a Saturday night there. However, we had to squish together on a smaller table as there was 7 of us. They were going to try and fit us on a bigger table but then another table of 7 walked in, so we were asked to squish. One of the waitresses knocked a drink on my friends lap, we didn't say anything at the time, but it was a bit messy and ruined her clothes a little. So would have been nice to get some sort of compensation for that.

The venue is lovely, but feel they have taken on to much with how many people they have in there. Everything felt very rushed, we had only been sat down for 5mins and we must have had a least 5 staff come over asking if we were ready to order! This is the second time we have been to Dem Shish and had a fabulous time . The food , staff and atmosphere is excellent. This place is a hidden gem. The food is absolutely sublime. We did visit at Eid the first time, and we were forgotten in their celebrations so the service was poor. HOWEVER! Ambience was awful - should have realized when I saw a music mixing deck by the bar that the music was going to be thumpingly too load and vastly inappropriate

Amazing meal for my birthday with amazing atmosphere. Had a magician roaming the restaurant stopping off at tables to entertain which was brilliant. Only critique is, waiters/waitresses didn’t check on table and one of my party members had to got to them for further side orders which was then only received when meal was finished. Shame but love the place and the food etc. amazing cocktails too.
