I had lunch at Dill with my 10 year old son last Saturday. The experience was wonderful! My son was greeted appropriately and served as a young man. The food was delicious, incredibly powerful flavours and a wide variety. Staff knowledge was excellent too. It was good value for such high quality food.

Loved our meal there. Service was excellent, quality of food fantastic.
One suggestion; the main ceiling lights were still glaring when it became dark outside. Would suggest candles or dimming the lights just to make it less clinical and more comfortable. A minor thing, as thoroughly enjoyed our time. We’ll be back for sure. Many thanks!

Dill was a revelation, the food truly extraordinary - a delight for all the senses. Chef Theo was incredibly knowledgeable and genial and treated us to some wonderful insights into the provenance and preparation of the evening's menu. I would highly recommend a visit!

Sunday (19/11) was our first visit and we didn't fully understand how things worked in terms of dish sizes etc. Now know exactly how to order on our next visit. Food excellent, staff also, and very knowledgeable. Being a bit of a wino found the list a tad lacking but did enjoy the Beaujolais Blanc. Concluded that it would be more fun experiencing the fabulous dishes with 4 of us rather than 2. Will certainly return.

The food is absolutely amazing here and the service was very friendly. It’s a lovely lovely spot that I’ve already recommended to many. The only thing I’d flag is the noise levels from a speaker. It was far too loud as the acoustics in the restaurant aren’t good. We waited too long to ask for it to be moved/ turned down. We’ll be back!

Our party enjoyed the food, which is unusual, varied and very tasty. However, the restaurant runs a strange serving system where you can order three types of plates but if you order a large platter, you will have to wait (as we did) for over an hour and a half for it to arrive. As a result, my 82 year old father didn't get to eat at all until 10pm while our smaller plates arrived early on. The staff did say that the large platters would arrive after the small plates but if it is going to be over an hour and a half wait from the point of ordering, this really should be explained to the customers. It was quite stressful as a result. The staff themselves were lovely but the waiting time - or at least explaining the time to the customers at the point of ordering - really should be addressed.

Arrived for lunch at 1. A member of staff started grinding raw meat noisily on an adjacent counter. Beyond the hygine issue - it was near a serving area - this type of disruption to diners simply should not have occurred. We complained and were told they had a late delivery. This task could have been done after the lunch service concluded. We were offered free desserts and this was appreicated, so amends were made to a degree, but this is not really the point. We are fairly regular to Dill and it is usually informal but professional. The last two times we felt aspects in staffing esp have slipped. At its best it is a wonderfully inventive and well priced venue.

Dill is what Lewes has needed for decades. Creative yet unpretentious dishes using unusual ingredients and locally sourced produce, all made with care. You can taste the love! We couldn’t fault the food or decide on a favourite dish (we had 6 small plates between us) and felt that it was good value for such amazing food.
The only thing that would have improved the experience and ambience was more ambient music, or none at all. Can’t wait to go back.

We absolutely loved our meat at Dill. All the staff were super friendly and obviously love their jobs. My only reservation was the desserts. We had the pain perdu, which was not to our taste. The croissant was a bit stodgy and the cheese rather strong. The pear and almond pie, the pear didn’t taste of much and there was little taste of almond in the pie. I hate to criticise, but just thought I’d share our thoughts. But we will definitely be back

We had the best time here last Sunday. Theo treated us to a yummy wine tasting, and when our late guests arrived, another one! (Loved the orange wines.) The food was perfect - all I can say. We're clearly crap at mental arithmetic, cos when the bill came it was significantly lower than we were expecting.

We come to Dill because we love the unusual flavours of your food . Ambiance and service are good, albeit ( understandably ) tables are small and cramped . It would be better if you could serve food in sequence ( eg. Fish before meat), but again it is understandable given your kitchen arrangements . Not cheap , but we have paid more for this quality food in other restaurants . When recommending you to friends the word we use is “ eclectic”. Overall , we love your food and that’s what brings us back .

I love Dill and have been a few times with family and friends and the food is great, I did request this time well in advance that one of us was vegan but felt a little disappointed at the choice, maybe because it a summer menu so nothing substantial. Excellent food - highly recommend. Only downside was the wait at the beginning - an hour before we got our first dish, once the service started it was nicely timed. If they had given us an indication of the wait time we would have ordered some bread or snacks to be going on with.

Been once before, the menu remains like a list of components from which to construct a meal.
With only one person serving we didn’t receive any food for nearly an hour - two quail eggs - and there was another wait after that.
The sea bream platter was a fish on a plate with several bowls of accompaniments - tricky on a small table.
One of our party was vegetarian, one of their two small plates was forgotten and then assembled quickly. It showed.
Everything I ate was delicious, the server was friendly but somehow the experience was less than the sum of its parts.

Thank you so much for a wonderful meal! Everything was perfect, except for the fact that I ate too much and could barely walk home.
I love that you get to try flavours and ingredients you’d never have thought of, and they are always delicious. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff if you have any questions about the food or just want some advice choosing drinks.
I feel so lucky that we have Dill in Lewes!

A wonderful experience!
Absolutely amazing food and matched by the service and ambience. The cans of beer were very expensive, but that’s not exclusive to this place. Will definitely revisit!

Best restaurant in Lewes, easily. Incredible food - Best I've had for a long time. Service is fantastic. These people really care about all of it. Not cheap, but food this good shouldn't be. Wine list is reasonably priced though.

The food choices are excitingly different. However, some of the plates are insubstantial. I understand the ethos, but the wrong choice can leave one feeling hungry. The seats are uncomfortable and would benefit from cushions.

Fabulous food, but with everything cooked to order service is slow. The restaurant does not have a single soft surface, the pass is open to the dining area, and crockery is stacked on the dining side under the pass. The overall result is a punishingly noisy environment.

We've lived in lewes for 30 years or so and this really was the very best meal we've ever had when eating out. From start to finish we loved everything we had to eat and the buzzy atmosphere and vibrant staff made us feel totally relaxed and at ease. the only thing we thought might improve things would be to be able to order wine by the carafe ........

Lovely food, but a little bit uneven - starters teeny, mains and sharing then unexpectedly large - not really a problem, everything was delicious, but it would be easier to choose/order if one had a feeling of quantity. Slightly slow - starters came quickly then a long wait for mains. Standout puddings. Friendly, funny service, and a nice easygoing feel.
