The bar area, where dogs are welcome, has eight taps, including two rotational cask ales. Foresters Guild is dedicated to providing the best local and international real ale and regularly introduces new breweries and beers to the range.
The fridges and shelved selection are constantly being updated, so you’re bound to find that tipple you love. With coffee served until late, we cater to everyone’s needs.
The restaurant is open until 9pm 7 days a week, serving good Scottish home cooking, along with specials created by our creative team of Chefs. All meats and fish are sourced from Edinburgh and the local surrounding areas, and the menu is ever-evolving seasonally. The bar does not have non spiced dark rum ie ovd, lambs, black heart or captain Morgans original.
Only had three barrels brandy.
No courvoisier, martel or hennessy.
Wine glasses are cheap and scratched.

We visited on a bank holiday and there was staffing issues .We waited an hour for our starter. To be fair staff member admitted mistake. We got a drink free of charge. When the main courses came one was just lukewarm which was a bit of a waste and disappointing after the hiccup with our starter.Hopefully if we return things will be better.

Really, REALLY poor! The best part of the evening was the greeting we received from a young waitress who then left, her shift over. Waited 24 minutes for drinks, nearly an hour for burgers (one of which was inedible) and fish, and then got told, when the dishes were removed, we should have mentioned this earlier, and what did we expect the kitchen staff to do now. We had difficulty in catching anyone's attention at any time that night. So, to sum up, mediocre venue, horrible food, shockingly poor staff and extremely disappointing overall. And it wasn't even busy!!

It was very busy.
Received our meal 90mins after reservation time. One of my friends vegetarian meal was burnt when she received it but would not return it as I suggested. My blue cheese burger was to be honest a bit over done and had no sign of blue cheese. It will be a while before I return. There was never an apology regarding the late serving of our meal. I suspect perhaps there was not enough staff to deal with the number of customers that day

Lovely food and very nice and helpful waiters. The evening would have been perfect if we hadn’t been so close to the INCREDIBLY HOT food counter with the heat lamps blazing away. We could also see that the waiters were finding it extremely difficult to hold the plates because they were so hot. If they had swapped the ‘cool end’ and the ‘hot end’ that would have helped.

We were greeted so warmly by the staff and the girls that looked after us could not have been more helpful and professional.
We had a bit of await for our food due to the large Christmas parties that were attending the restaurant but our waitresses came back to check on us regularly to make sure we were comfortable.

Booked for 7pm and was surprised at how busy the restaurant was for a Tuesday in November. Arrived slightly early was greeted at the door and shown to our table.
Atmosphere was great - room was warm and had a real buzz. Drinks order was quick but had to wait a wee while for food. No big deal - the two guys serving were very busy. All staff pleasant & helpful. Food was very tasty and good value for price paid.
Only small criticism was some items on menu were already not available to order and this was only 7pm!!
This limited choice and therefore had to rethink options chosen.
All in all good food in pleasant surroundings so will hopefully visit again next time in the area.

For a mid week late lunch it was lovely. Food was piping hot and tasted amazing. Service was great, and friendly too. Maybe slightly higher on prices than average but definitely worth it.

Fish and chips were not as good as previous times. Chips over cooked and dried out and fish not as crispy as usual. Service etc all great. Hopefully a one-off. Will still be back.

Went for brunch, table of 6 , took a while after ordering & some of the dishes were cold / other items were over cooked , easily rectified but a bit disappointing as wasn't busy . Wouldn't put me off going back , maybe just not for brunch .

I was very surprised that the waitresses were not wearing masks......the young man at the door did wear a mask and we wore masks until we were seated.....sorry !!!!!
