The bar area, where dogs are welcome, has eight taps, including two rotational cask ales. Foresters Guild is dedicated to providing the best local and international real ale and regularly introduces new breweries and beers to the range.
The fridges and shelved selection are constantly being updated, so you’re bound to find that tipple you love. With coffee served until late, we cater to everyone’s needs.
The restaurant is open until 9pm 7 days a week, serving good Scottish home cooking, along with specials created by our creative team of Chefs. All meats and fish are sourced from Edinburgh and the local surrounding areas, and the menu is ever-evolving seasonally. First time eating out since lockdown, so was looking forward to a good experience. Wasn’t disappointed. All social distance and sanitising procedures in place, but this didn’t take away from the relaxed and cosy atmosphere. Great food and coffee and friendly attentive service.Will be back soon.

I’ve been to foresters so many times and I absolutely love it. However for whatever reason on this visit, I was disappointed. My friend and I had our table booked at 10:30 - I ordered Parmesan savoury french toast. The two meals did not arrive until 11:20, almost an hour after we had sat down and when it did eventually come the meal was quite disappointing in size....the portion of toast was very small and I don’t think overall that the meal was worth £7.50. I do understand that with current restrictions that things can be tough for businesses that usually operate in a different way...I just felt that our dining experience was very disappointing from a place that is always up to a high standard. Service was slow

We waited half an hour to be offered the menus then another fifteen minutes for the order to be taken.
Staff passed by as we were at the serving area but nobody actually acknowledged us. A quick reassurance about how busy they were, or any small comment would have been nice but we did feel ignored as staff continually passed us by.
Once the food came it was delicious.

First visit and I was impressed. It was a Tuesday, so it was quiet which suited my lunch companion and I very well. Attentive and vigilant staff, good food, good portions. Spotlessly clean. Lovely food and very nice and helpful waiters. The evening would have been perfect if we hadn’t been so close to the INCREDIBLY HOT food counter with the heat lamps blazing away. We could also see that the waiters were finding it extremely difficult to hold the plates because they were so hot. If they had swapped the ‘cool end’ and the ‘hot end’ that would have helped.

Have been before and the food was really good but this time it was quite disappointing. Waited a while for mains which the server did apologise for and it was a holiday Monday therefore busy to be fair. Starter of monkfish cheeks was excellent, main of mac n cheese very disappointing and well overpriced at £15. Cheesesteak burger was good, chips totally overdone. Great place, lovely ambience, would definitely return for drinks, the beach hits our back are fab.

We visited on a bank holiday and there was staffing issues .We waited an hour for our starter. To be fair staff member admitted mistake. We got a drink free of charge. When the main courses came one was just lukewarm which was a bit of a waste and disappointing after the hiccup with our starter.Hopefully if we return things will be better.

I love the beer garden and the beach huts. I love the staff even more! They are great! We mentioned that we were in the mood for scones, and even though they are not on the menu were told they DO have them. They arrived somewhat hot on the outside but still a bit frozen on the inside - so not fresh.
On the flipside - on another day I had lovely Fish and chips there with NOT mushy peas - yay! And the Sticky toffee pudding was so good and SOOOO big!
Hence the '8' as the Scones were just not good quality... (although the clotted cream that came with them :-)... It would be great to have a few options that are more 'lunchy' as I'd visit more often. Perhaps a couple of other salad options e.g. with chicken and hard boiled egg... or some such...
I will surely be back! Such great vibe and team.

I often meet friends for lunch in the Foresters Guild. It’s a favourite place for a relaxed lunchtime catch up. The menu is interesting and varied and the standards high. The.boxing day lunch was very very good. The full size fish actually 2 small pieces. Portions a bit it on small side. But very tasty fish in a superb batter.
Sticky toffee was ab excellent.
The young lady was cheerful and very efficient.
Having used.the..pub/ resturant over 40yrs previous owner plus. The new style is pleasing. Clean and normally welcoming.
But the b ground music shod have more enphasis on background.
THAT would be the only gripe.

The food we had was very good - fish & chips, steak, salmon and a burger - and nicely presented. Nothing outstanding, but certainly competent. Service was fine but the ambiance of the place on a Wednesday lunchtime was a bit lacking; perhaps that is no surprise. The final bill was a bit higher than we expected, but that is perhaps a reflection of escalating prices everywhere. Overall, it was a pleasant visit.

What a treat! Foresters Guild ‘a food was outstanding. The food was fresh and so tasty. We started with the cauliflower appetizer and then shared the 10oz. Rump steak. We also had the crusted macaroni and cheese as a side. Each dish was wonderful. One of the best meals we had in 3 weeks of travel in Scotland. Highly recommend and make sure you have a reservation!

Due to a mix up, we arrived after our booking time (my fault!). The guy on the door was super helpful and manage to find us a table. Staff were friendly without being all over you and the food was great. It is somewhere we have already spoken about taking visitors to over the summer.

Came here for the first time for lunch with my husband & niece. We sat in one of their Beach Huts which has a heater too. It was so nice. The food was lovely. I had the Fish Cakes & the others had Burgers which all had fries. We shared a stater which was Halloumi. It was so nice. Service was fab & really good value for money too. Great selection. Will definitely be back.

We were welcomed at the door by a friendly helpful member of staff& taken to our table. The reduced menu was good &Sunday roast was on offer. I opted for the roast beef which was delicious. My only small criticism is that the seat we were in was a bit draughty as we faced the door& it was a windy day. As a result our food cooled quickly. Having said that it was lovely & I would just ask to be seated elsewhere in future. Threat value for money.
