- No, it's assistance dogs only due to the restricted space but dogs are welcome at our outdoor tables.

- We use an automated table allocation system, which allocates tables based on availability and party size. It fills the window seats first, so booking in advance means you are more likely to get a window table.
- Do you have vegan or vegetarian options?
- Yes, please ask your server for details.
- Do you have gluten-free options?
- Yes, please ask your server for details.
- How do I book a table?
- The quickest and easiest way to book a table is by using our online booking system. If you have a problem with it, then you could try calling but we are often too busy to answer the phone.
- Can I come just for a drink?
- Yes, if you just want drinks and nibbles that's fine. We have a good selection of wines, beers and cocktails.
- Can I see the menu?
- We are currently in the process of updating our menus but we will publish them soon.
- What time do you open?
- We are open for lunch from 12 noon. We may decide to open for breakfast at some point in the future.
- Do you do takeaway?
- Yes, we have a takeaway section offering a selection of fish and seafood. Oscar's multi award-winning gelato is also available for takeaway and we have great coffee.

We booked a table for my partner's birthday a few months in advance requesting a table with a view and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. We really had a lovely time and it was topped off by the host bringing a gelato with happy birthday written in Chocolate. I would highly recommend and if back in Edinburgh we would definitely revisit.

We enjoyed an amazing lunch with great views of the beach from a window table, fantastic very attentive service and lovely ambience. My friend had one dozen beautifully presented oysters, which she said were the best she's ever had, and a large dish of 6 langoustines with fresh bread which she said were delicious. My seafood chowder and fish and chips were outstanding too, and the portions very generous. A superb bottle of rose prosecco was a perfect choice, and liqueur coffees finished this truly memorable meal off perfectly.

Delighted to find this place so close to home exceeding our expectations. Stunning setting with panoramic views along the Forth (on a clear day anyway) & thoughtful, unfussy decor inside. Staff were both attentive & efficient yet naturally easy going & welcoming. Menu is well suited to the surroundings with the focus on seafood - all done especially well, judging from what our table of five ordered at least - but other dishes with some Mediterranean influence are thoughtfully added & very well prepped & presented… and above all very tasty indeed…

As usual Joppa Rocks met our high expectations in all aspects. Both waitresses were very attentive. The food was delicious. Even on a weekday evening there were enough people to ensure a nice atmosphere and on a cold night it was nice and warm, something that is not always the case in other restaurants. We will return.

Food was what we expected albeit couple of guests hoped for more Peas with their fish and chips .

A fantastic dining experience. My son and I had the Portugese fish dish between us, and honestly, there was enough for 3 people. The service was exceptional. The view is fantastic. Although we both had as much as we could eat,and a bottle of wine, we didn't feel bloated or any ill effects. I think that was because the food was so fresh,and the restaurant was relaxed and unhurried. The lovely walk back along the prom made it a perfect evening. Thank you Joppa Rocks

Our visit to Joppa Rocks, was really good. The food was lovely, and well worth what we paid for. The service was efficient. And our server was pleasant. The atmosphere and views made it even more enjoyable. Will definitely be back again

What a beautiful place. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Lovely staff, great location and tasteful decor. Only complaint is my ‘warm salmon salad’, salmon was cold. Was a bit disappointed. Also a slightly limited menu choice. Good to check a new place out, hope it improves.

Lovely experience, the young team are friendly and helpful. Decor is beautiful and the views to the forth are so peaceful. Quality of food was exceptional the oysters they were so fresh. Only deducted a point as the mussels and lamb were overcooked which was very slightly disappointing.
Thank you to all the staff and to Mr Murdochy for creating another lovely place to go in Portobello

This was a very enjoyable meal and sociable group meal with friends.
The table was a little cold when we arrived which you rectified with a heater. Although the view is good, as it was dark on balance we might have been more comfortable if located away from the windows which are cold.

As someone who is generally a fish eating vegetarian, although I didn't choose Falafels, I think seeing them in a wrap did not look appetising, better to have 2/3/4 of them separately, with the other ingredients on the plate, rather than in a wrap! I certainly wouldn't choose them the way they were presented!! This cuts down options as I don't eat seafood! But I still love coming to Joppa Rocks which has lovely ambience & friendly helpful staff!

A fantastic meal for a birthday celebration. The food was excellent and the service was super. They accommodated us bringing a birthday cake and even gave us plates to enjoy a piece after our meal. The birthday girl also go a free ice cream. I wasn’t keen on the chip shops chips as I don’t think they go well with anything other than chippy food. The starters were quite small for the price too.
Overall although we had a fantastic experience and would recommend. The view is worth it alone.

Only had a starter (scallops and green bean puree) which was tasty but the scallops were tiny, so felt expensive for what I got. My friend had the sea food chowder which she thought was delicious and value for money. The glasses of wine were competitively priced. The service was excellent. Although we didn't mind being the only ones upstairs it did mean there was a lack of atmosphere (on a wet Thursday lunchtime) - though the decor and views are really lovely. It is one of my local restaurants, so I will continue to support it and wish it well.

The meal was excellent. Sufficient choice to satisfy my daughter who loved her langustines as well as impressed she got chippy sauce as soon as she asked while my son and I enjoyed oysters and fish main courses. View lovely shame it was cloudy but can’t do anything about the weather! It was fairly quiet so ambience pleasant but not ‘stand out’
