Came for a mid-week dinner and was glad to have made a reservation as it was busy. Received a warm welcome and our table was ready. Staff were helpful and attentive and the meal was delicious - we all had the fish and chips.
Good choice of drinks, including cocktails. Overall a lovely experience and will be back.

I’m a regular at The Spylaw Tavern in Colinton. This was my first visit to The Hermitage ( and I live locally!). We were very well looked after from arriving to leaving. Our waiter was friendly and professional. Fabulous menu - with lots of choice. We didn’t have starters, our mains were fish and chips, and chicken, leek and mushroom pie, with delicious veggies and new potatoes. I’m not a pie fan but on a cold, wet May Day this hit the spot!. The fish and chips did not disappoint either. Ample size portions. No room for desserts, just tea and coffee!. I’m looking forward to returning.

Hi, I have given top marks because the Hermitage did it all very well under COVID challenges.
Obviously ambience would be better at normal times- with music and more heat. ( it was rather cold but assume this is due to ventilation requirements ). Also - without alcohol it’s a bit less fun, but they did it really well. Bacon roll could have had a bit more bacon. Coffee could be hotter. But these are small things. Well Done All !!

Everything was wonderful - very friendly staff and severely satisfying food - I felt like I had xmas dinner by the time I was done! Hope these guys can make their way through this difficult time.

Waited 50 minutes for our food and when it arrived it wasn’t warm. I ordered the brisket burrito but it was too spicy. Nothing mentioned in the menu about it being spicy. Very poor overall

Staff very clearly explained social distancing guidelines in the bar. These seemed robust and well thought through. Food was tasty and hot and good value for money even more so with 'Eat out to help out'. Friendly but professional staff.
