Douro Valley is a family run restaurant, open since December 2014.

Here at Douro Valley we pride ourselves on using the best ingredients to create home-cooked traditional Portuguese food.

We serve a range of traditional Portuguese dishes including piri piri chicken, sea food rice, bacalhau (salted cod) and octopus, giving you a true experience of Portuguese cuisine.

Not only do we offer Portuguese dishes, but we also have a range of char-grilled steaks, grilled meat, and grilled fish, paellas and tapas dishes.

We are fairly frequent clients of this restaurant. Last night we took friends there, it was their first time! To quote their reaction to Duro Valley, they were "blown away"by it all. We are so pleased to have introduced them to this place. The whole evening lived up to expectations, good food, great service and a lovely calm atmosphere. This is my second time eating at douro Valley but first with children and we wasn't disappointed, we came with my two 8 year olds and were pleasantly surprised that you offered children's options, my fussy eater was so happy you served chicken nuggets, my other child is an adventurous eater and loved every thing that was put in front of her, my only quip would be that she shared my meal as one on her own would have been to much, is it possible to get children's sizes of the menu items? Not steak but maybe the chicken or fish skewers? But the food was delicious and we will definitely be back with and without the children.

We often visit Duro Valley because we can guarantee that the food will be delicious, beautifully cooked, well presented and served by friendly and professional staff. The menu is extensive and authentically Portuguese. The restaurant itself is nicely set out with white tablecloths, sparkling glasses and cutlery, soft lighting, very low background music and a lovely calm feeling. It is somewhere that you can happily take guests to.

I booked a table online as I live 200 miles away and was surprising family who lived locally. I had excellent communication with the restaurant prior to going. The meal was delicious and with excellent service. We brought a cake which was no trouble for the staff who happily brought this out whilst playing a happy birthday song in the restaurant. Highly recommended although I live too far away to be a regular myself.
